The purpose of the article is to analyze the main areas of research work of tea chers of Vinnytsia and Kamianets-Podilskyi Pedagogical Institutes during the years of Khrushchov’s “thaw” on the basis of archival sources and periodical press materials. Th e methodological basis of the research is the principles of historicism, systematicity and comprehensiveness, problem- chronological and diachronic methods. Th e scientifi c novelty of the article is determined by the comprehensive analysis of the subject of scientifi c research works of the teachers at the above- mentioned pedagogical institutes, their preparation of dissertation studies, scientifi c works, and participation in conferences. Conclusions. Research work was an important activity area of the Vinnytsia and Kamianets-Podilskyi Pedagogical Institutes. Th e primary responsibility for its implementation rested with the teaching corporation, which in its research paid the main atten- tion to pedagogical issues aimed at improving educational and methodological work in higher education institutions and schools. An important area of the pedagogical universities’ activity was the preparation of doctoral and candidate dissertations by teachers. In order to activate the process, the institution’s management used diff erent ways (targeted and one-year postgraduate studies, creative vacations, reduction of the academic load, etc.). However, a number of scientists were unable to defend their works, primarily due to the lack of a mechanism for coordinating scientifi c research. Teachers prepared monographic studies, textbooks, and manuals, articles, some of which appeared in prestigious scientifi c journals. However, the total number of works of higher education teachers was insignifi cant (an average of 45 works were issued per institute each year). Most of them were published in collections of scientifi c works of pedagogical insti- tutes (“Scientifi c notes”). Report scientifi c conferences (sessions) of teachers were held annually.

Physical preparedness is a basic type of athletes’ preparedness in all versions of taekwon-do. Attention to physical preparation remains fixed and actual at various stages of multi-year sports improvement. Researchers and methodological papers mostly present specifics of training and competition activity in taekwon-do WTF and to a lesser extent taekwon-do ITF and GTF. This calls for specification of the set of information means for control of specialized physical preparedness of athletes aged 12–13. The aim of the paper is to substantiate parameters of control of specialized physical preparedness of athletes aged 12–13 in taekwon-do ITF. Materials and methods. The following methods have been used: the method of theoretical analysis and academic and methodological references data generalization; analysis of documented materials; the method of expert polling; methods of mathematical and statistical data processing. The structure and content of Training programs in taekwon-do ITF, WTF, rules of competitions in taekwon-do ITF have been studied. 24 coaches in taekwon-do ITF were involved in expert polling; presentation group of young athletes aged 12-14 (15 persons) whose training experience in taekwon-do ITF was over 5 years were additionally involved. The questions were related to determination of time spells priority for control of athletes’ special speed qualities; time spells for control of athletes’ special power endurance; kicks and punches as well as combination of two-three hits that can be used for control of athletes’ special physical preparedness. Polling results processing was done via ranking of the suggested variants by shares of respondents’ answers. Results. It has been revealed that when elaborating the program of testing of special physical preparedness of athletes aged 12–13 in taekwon-do ITF it is reasonable to rely on the use of actions in two modes: speed and power mode (acting for 10-30 seconds), and speed and power endurance (90–120 seconds). Execution of single punches in control of physical preparedness must include hand actions: jab, upper-cut or cross, and kicks: Dollyo Chagi, Yop Chagi, or Naeryo Chagi. Execution of combination of two hits, according to expert recommendations, should be done in: “Dollyo Chagi-cross” and “Yop Chagi-hook”, while combination of three hits – “hook-Dollyo Chagi-dwi chagi” and “jab – Yop Chagi-hook”. Conclusions. Parameters of control have been substantiated for the first time; use of single kicks and punches, execution of two and three hits for control of special physical preparedness of athletes aged 12–13 in taekwon-do ITF have been specified

Mature women are active consumers of various fitness industry services. The main goals of such classes are to obtain a healing effect, as well as physical improvement, expressed in the development of physical qualities, increasing efficiency and the ability to perform basic human movements. A variety of fitness areas also implies a difference in their effect on the body of those involved. Recently, functional training has become increasingly popular, during which exercises with a specific motor task are used.Research results. The purpose of the study is to study the impact of functional training on the health status of women of mature age. Research results. One-hour functional training in group classes for women of mature age (47-55 years old), used three times a week for one year, has a positive effect on the health of those involved: performance in functional exercises of a speed-strength and coordination character is significantly improved, as well as in flexibility exercises. Functional training also contributes to the adaptation of the cardiovascular system to physical activity. Conclusions. 1. An experiment involving 23 people showed that regular group training for one hour three times a week for one year, including functional exercises, improves the response of the cardiovascular system to physical activity in women of mature age 47-55 years old, leading a sedentary Lifestyle. 2. The use of functional exercises for an hour three times a week for one year contributes to the improvement of speed-strength indicators, coordination of movements, flexibility in women of mature age 47-55 years. 3. Effective functional training should include continuous exercises in a standing position, complex coordination exercises, strength exercises in a functional format. Classes should be conducted to music (no more than 132 beats / min). Classes should be of coordination complexity for those involved, and programs should be constantly updated

The relevance of the research topic. The paper presents the results of the assessment of physical condition indicators in 60-70-year-old men. The aim of the study was to identify the characteristics of physical condition indicators in senior men. Methods: theoretical analysis of special scientific and methodological literature, anthropometric and medical biological methods, and mathematical statistics. The study was conducted at the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (Rivne, Ukraine). The ascertaining pedagogical experiment involved 50 senior men (with an average age of 65.06 ± 3.06 years). Results. Physical condition indicators characterizing physical development and functional status of the cardiorespiratory system were identified. Regressive changes at the morphological level were found: a trend to the increase in certain somatometric parameters and decrease in physiometric indicators of senior men. A significant decrease in the cardiorespiratory capacities of the studied subjects was revealed: 84 % of elderly men needed treatment to improve the functional state of the cardiovascular system. The majority (60 %) of respondents were diagnosed with high blood pressure. The obtained results also indicated decreased adaptation potential and increased tension of the regulatory systems. Satisfactory adaptation of the cardiovascular system was found in 8 %; tension of the adaptation mechanisms – in 20 %; unsatisfactory adaptation – in 40 %; and failure of adaptation – in 32 % of senior men. Conclusions. Based on the results of the study, the physical condition indicators of senior men were assessed. It was found that most of the indicators have certain deviations from the normal range, which should be taken into account when developing a comprehensive program based on the use of means of health-enhancing recreational physical activity.

The long-term experience of physical training of the Armed Forces of foreign countries convincingly proves that hand-to-hand combat, with appropriate organization and conduct, can serve as an effective means of educating personnel in the spirit of devotion, contribute to instilling in servicemen a sense of responsibility, camaraderie and mutual assistance, loyalty to one’s duty, collectivism and cohesion. Today, when our servicemen take part in the defense of the state, it is especially important to use all possible means for the psychological readiness of servicemen in order to perform their assigned tasks in a high-quality manner. The successful performance of military tasks and the future fate of our country depend on the psychological preparedness of military personnel. The purpose of the research was to determine modern technologies and methods of improving hand-to-hand combat techniques to improve the combat and psychological training of servicemen. Research methods. To conduct the research, the methods of theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, questionnaires among experts (15 people) and cadets-future officers (120 cadets) were used, regarding the effectiveness of the application of the training model for future officers in hand-to-hand combat in the system of physical training. The methods of theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature were used to conduct the research. In total, more than 60 sources of information were analyzed, after which a final review was conducted and 34 literature sources were singled out, the material of which was processed using general scientific methods. The results. According to the results of the study, it was established that special physical training as an educational discipline aims to provide training of military personnel and specialists of power structures with a high level of versatile physical and psychological readiness, capable of effectively and qualitatively solving assigned tasks, to withstand mental, neuropsychological and physical stress without reducing the effectiveness of military professional activity, mastering the skills of using means of physical influence and self-defense, as well as minimizing the negative impact of the factors of the real situation on the general efficiency and combat readiness of personnel, which becomes especially relevant in the conditions of long, continuous combat operations. Conclusions. The need for the process of training the future personnel of military personnel and specialists of the security forces of Ukraine for complex forms of pedagogical activity, in which medical-biological, psychophysiological, and organizational-methodical approaches are integrated, is determined. Accounting for all the mentioned approaches in a complex is the most important condition for increasing the effectiveness of the learning process

Th e purpose of the article is the analysis of a separate document from the 39th Book of Records of the Lithuanian Metricа, which concerns the participation of Volyn nobi- lity delegation at the session of Wilno Sejm (Sejm Wileński) in January 1566. Th e methodo- logical foundations of the research are based on the fundamental dogmas of historicism and objecti vity. At the same time, the principle of systematicity was used for a comprehensive study of the document content. Analytical and synthesizing methods were used to generalize the obtained information. Th e scientifi c novelty consists in conducting analytical work with the content of the presented document and its corresponding publication at the end of the article. Conclusions. A delegation from Volyn nobility arrived at Wilno Sejm which had been held early in 1566. Th e ambassadors had the authority to inform the Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund II Augustus about various problems in the region and to obtain appropriate solutions to them. Actually, it was structured like this: fi rst the message of the ambassadors, and then the resolution of the ruler. Th e total of 14 positions ("prozb") were presented. Currently, the principle of distri- bution of these “prozb” remains unknown from the document: arbitrary or regular. In terms of content we can establish that the raised issues were related to: military service, payment of cer- tain taxes and implementation of duties, administrative positions, criminal off enses and the stay of military mercenaries in Volyn. Th e analyzed document vividly illustrates one of the aspects of the General Sejm (Sejm Walny) functioning and its competence. Sigismund II August did not ignore any of Volyn ambassadors’ "prozb". However not all of them received an immediate solution. Th e total of 14 positions (\"prozb\") were presented. Sigismund II August did not ignore any of Volyn ambassadors’ \"prozb\". However not all of them received an immediate solution. The purpose of the study is to analyze the activities of Russophile societies and their infl uence on the Russophile movement in the city of Przemysl, as well as to establish and highlight the reasons for their decline. Th e research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity, comprehensiveness, integrity, systematicity, as well as the use of the methods of analysis and synthesis, historical-comparative, historical-typological, and problem-chronological. Th e scientifi c novelty lies in the fact that, for the fi rst time, the activity of Russophile societies in the city of Przemysl has been systematically analyzed, and the reasons for their decline clarifi ed. Conclusions. In the course of the research, it has been identifi ed that in the city of Przemysl in the second half of the 19th – at the beginning of the 20th century, the Russophile movement did not have a large number of supporters, in general, it was rep- resented by several cultural and educational societies. Among the most active champions of Russophile ideas were gymnasium professor Mykola Antonevich (1840-1919) and lawyer Kyrylo Cherlyunchakevych (1869-1950). Th e following reasons led to the decline of Russophile societies and the movement in general: 1) the main Russophile organizations, such as the Stavropygian Institute, the Galician-Russian Motherland, the Lviv People’s House, did not have branches and were not represented in Przemysl; 2) Ukrainophile cultural and educational societies predomi- nated quantitatively, their activities encompassed the educational, cultural, artistic, economic, and spiritual life of the city community, in particular such societies as “Prosvita”, Ukrainian Pedagogical Society, “Teachers’ Community”, “Mutual Aid of Ukrainian Teachers”, “Petro Mohyla Society of Scientifi c Lectures”, “Union of Ukrainian Women”; 3) the city’s pro-Ukrainian intelligentsia founded the “People’s House” society, which became a center for patriotic activists, and also provided locations for hosting various societies, holding cultural, educational and ar- tistic events; 4) Ukrainophiles had an advantage in mass media; 5) in one of the oldest societies “Ruska Besida” at the end of the 19th century, Narodovites began to prevail, who later com- pletely mastered this society; 6) representatives of the M. Kachovsky Society lost their positions in the Diet of Galicia and the Vienna Parliament; 7) during the First World War, many supporters of Russophilism were imprisoned or destroyed. Th e reasons above led to the complete decline of Russophile cultural and educational societies in Przemysl even before the Second World War.

Th e study aims is to systematize and analyze the publications about church-parochial schooling in the Uman district, which were found in the provincial newspapers «Kievskoe Slovo», «Kievlyanin», «Life and Art» in order to fi nd out the nature of the coverage of the topic by the secular press within the limits of the micro-historical approach. Th e research methodolo- gy involved the use of the principles of historicism, scientifi c objectivity, systematicity and com plexity. Th e article uses such methods as problem-chronological, descriptive, systematization, heuristic-search. Th e scientifi c novelty lies in the fact that the used sources not only expand the range of knowledge about church-parish schooling, but also convey information about critical aspects of the overall positive assessment of this link of education. Having a secular character, the examined provincial newspapers published information from correspondents, which combined offi cial data and echoes of public opinion. Conclusions. In the years of the rise of church-parish schooling, the secular press of the Kyiv province paid attention to this important matter. Th is was due to the improvement of the informational and legal basis of the functioning of this link of the education of the people, the parish schools of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 19th century. 20th century one and a half dozen publications were devoted to only one Uman district. Th eir thematic direction in a generalized form can be defi ned as follows: statistics of the school network, reports on the state of schools based on the results of visits by offi cials, criticism of the methods of auditing schools, the results of student examinations, the care of Orthodox clergy by schools. Publications have value both as sources of information and as a refl ection of evaluative judgments of that time.

Th e purpose of the study is to characterize the activities of the Podebrady centre of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine in interwar Czechoslovakia. Th e research methodology is based on the principles of concrete-historical, problem-chronological approaches, objectivity, and integrity, as well as the use of methods of analysis and synthesis. Th e scientifi c novelty lies in refl ecting the solution of Ukrainian emigration to the issue of the Ukrainianization of the Church. Conclusions. Th e Podebrady Ukrainian Orthodox movement was represented by three separate groups of believers. Th e fi rst belonged to the canonical ju- risdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Church under Archbishop Gorazd (Pavlika, 1879–1942). The second, mostly “autocephalists”, – the Supreme Church Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for emigration on the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic, headed by the famous politician Serhii Shelukhin (1864–1938) and the connoisseur of Ukrainian church life, specialist historian Vasyl Bidnov (1874–1935) – it was subordinate to the Constantinople to the patriarch. Archbishop Savvatii was the head of the group of “Ukrainian Praguers” (Vrabets, 1880–1952). Th e third group of Ukrainian emigrants joined the Russian Orthodox parish and recognized the authority of Bishop Serhii (Korolyova, 1881–1952). Th e emigration “autocephalous” centre arose in the resort town of Podebrady, 20 km from Prague, and had 182 Ukrainian Academy of Economics students and 51 teachers. From 1924 to 1939, Hryhoriy Melnyk (1893 – aft er 1939) was the Podebrady “autocephalists” pastor. Th e members of the Orthodox Brotherhood, named aft er Saints Cyril and Methodius, were active participants in the life of the Ukrainian emigration community in interwar Czechoslovakia. Th ey left the most noticeable mark not only in main- taining high morale but also in the material support of other exiles and their families in the fi ght against drunkenness, suicide, and eugenics.
