The influence of complex rehabilitation on motor function was studied in 120 patients with dorsopathy of the lumbar spine operated on for radicular compression syndromes caused by herniated discs L4-L5, L5-S1, randomly divided into two groups. Group 1 (main) included 60 patients, the basic rehabilitation complex was optimized by stabilometric training and special physical exercises in the pre- and postoperative periods. Group 2 (comparison) consisted of 60 patients, in whom only the basic rehabilitation complex was used. A prospective 180-day follow-up showed that in patients of group 1, the positive dynamics of the pain syndrome assessment occurred in a shorter period, differing from the initial values by 2.5 times, while the indicators of group 2 differed by 1.7 times. The dynamics of balance assessment in patients of group 1 had statistically significant differences, differing from the initial values by 1.2 times, while in patients of group 2 the indicators differed by 1.1 times. The dynamics of the assessment of the quality of life in patients of group 1 had higher indicators and differed from the initial values by 1.7 times, while in patients of group 2 the indicators differed by 1.5 times. The dynamics of locomotor function in patients of group 1 differed from the initial values by 4.9 times, while patients of group 2 had indicators that differed from the baseline values by 2.3 times.

Introduction. Due to the fact that almost all residents live in residential premises on a certain area, as well as the fact that the impact of living space on the mental health of the population remains understudied, it seems important to conduct a survey on this topic. Target. To study the impact of residents' provision with living space on their mental health, as well as on individual nosological forms of mental disorders and the severity of the course of mental illness, followed by the development of preventive measures. Materials and methods. On a voluntary basis, a survey of 1038 adult residents (510 mentally ill and 528 healthy people) was completed. The questionnaire consisted of several sections and included 67 questions, one of which was a question characterizing the average living space provision per family member. All individuals with mental illness, depending on the main diagnosis, type of registration and disability group presence, answered the survey questions. Results. The impact of the average provision with the living space on the mental health of the population has been established. It has been proven that insufficient housing provision is one of the provoking (trigger) factors in the onset or development of exacerbations of mental and behavioral disorders, in particular schizophrenia, schizoaffective and schizotypal disorders, and can also affect behavioral disorders in mental retardation. The unfavorable impact of low residential space on the severity of mental illness was revealed in the study of groups of registration of mentally ill people and a disability group presence. Conclusing. According to the results of the study, preventive measures are recommended.

The study involved 45 men and women aged 35 to 55 years with a verified diagnosis according to the CEAP classification: varicose vein disease, C2, 3s, Ep, As, p, Pr, with complaints of pain, swelling of the lower extremities in the evening, fatigue, signs of varicose dilation of the saphenous veins. The participants were divided into 3 groups: in group 1 (n = 25), the basic treatment complex was optimized by magnetophoresis with chitosan gel Ankitrom with the venom of the Siberian pit viper and taurine on the lower extremities, and the patients were also recommended to apply the gel to the painful areas before going to bed; in group 2 (n = 10), in addition to standard treatment, placebo magnetophoresis procedures were performed; in group 3 (n = 10), in addition to basic therapy, Ankitrom gel was rubbed into the skin of legs and feet in the morning and evening. According to the results of the study, it was found that magnetophoresis with Ankitrom gel on the legs and feet helps to reduce the severity of pain syndrome, reduce the time of systolic blood filling of vessels on the legs and feet by 1.3 times, and increase the rate of emptying of venous vessels of the extremity, as evidenced by the decrease in venous outflow by 1.2 times from the initial values, which significantly differed from similar indicators in the comparison groups.

Based on the analysis of the literature and our own ideas using general logical methods of analysis and synthesis, information is presented on the advisability of a broad interpretation of the content of the term "epidemiology", which at the present stage includes two sections with a uniform research methodology: the epidemiology of infectious diseases and the epidemiology of non-infectious diseases. The features that distinguish the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases from classical infectious epidemiology are shown. Attention is paid to evidence-based medicine, the theoretical basis of which is clinical epidemiology. Proposals on the need to introduce a course of epidemiology of non-infectious pathology into the educational process of training specialists in biomedical profile are substantiated as a perspective of epidemiology and the epidemiological method of research in modern conditions.

The research work deals with the problem of the use of nicotine-containing products (NCP) by means of various pods and other electronic nicotine delivery systems by adolescents in the Novosibirsk region. The composition of nicotine-containing liquids was analyzed, chemical elements, including heavy metals, were identified, and their concentrations in aerosols of popular NCP brands were quantified. A comparison of certain elements between the brands of disposable NCP and conventional cigarettes was carried out. On the basis of a one-time random sample consisting of 4900 students of colleges and higher educational institutions, as well as students of secon¬dary educational schools in the districts of the Novosibirsk region and the city of Novosibirsk, the gender and age component was determined. The article reveals the problems of addiction, multiplicity of consumption, as well as measures to limit the use of electronic NCP. The colossal widespread use of such products among young people is stated. Based on the information and experiences studied, the need for scientific and educational work for adolescents was identified, as well as the need for assistance in quitting the NCP use.

A case of observation and treatment of a 30-year-old patient from a married couple with infertility in marriage for 2 years is described. At the time of consulting a doctor, the patient was revealed the abnormal parameters of the ejaculate in the form of hyperviscosity, asthenoteratozoospermia, and an increase in the sperm DNA fragmentation index. The patient underwent combination therapy, including periodic proteolytic enzyme therapy (Longidase) for 11 months, followed by spontaneous pregnancy.

The hepatoprotective effect of aqueous alcoholic extracts obtained from the raw materials of native birch bark (NBBE) and previously dispersed to a particle size of 100–300 nm (DBBE) was studied in male rats. The animals were divided into 14 groups of 10 animals each. Groups 1, 2 — intact; 3, 4 — control (carbon tetrachloride); 5, 6 — previously, for 5 days, NBBE was injected once intragastrically at a dose of 50 mg/kg, on the 6th day, a 50 % oil solution of CC14 was injected at a dose of 0,2 ml/100 g abdominally; 7, 8 — DBBE at a dose of 50 mg/kg + CC14; 9, 10 — NBBE at a dose of 100 mg/kg + CC14; 11, 12 — DBBE at a dose of 100 mg/kg + CC14; 13, 14 — the comparison drug carsil was injected at a dose of 100 mg/kg + CC14. On the 4th and 7th day after the injection of CC14, the animals were removed from the experiment. The data obtained indicate the hepatoprotective effect of NBBE and DBBE in carbon tetrachloride intoxication, which was expressed in the necrosis volume density decrease due to their preliminary preventive injection. NBBE at a dose of 100 mg/kg has a more significant protective effect compared to Carsil. Prophylactic injection of DBBE at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg not only prevented the development of necrosis in the liver, but unlike Carsil, it activated intracellular processes of reparative regeneration in the recovery period, which is confirmed by an increase in the number density of binuclear hepatocytes.
