This paper presents the development of a virtual reality simulator for the management of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) focused on improving the quality of life of grown-up people. The present research has collected characteristics of gestures and physical movements from users made by other related research in order to study the same interaction within a virtual world. Through this research a smaller number of gestures were created improving the user learning curve without affecting the usability. The following implementation uses a client-server architecture composed of 2 Raspberry Pi devices and a Smartphone acting as a server the communication between them was achieved by employing Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The immersive virtual experience is accomplished by using Unity 3D and Google VR tools that allowed the design and display of a playful virtual environment as an approach to promote physical and cognitive skills such as spatial thinking and hand-eye coordination. By performing maneuvers through an aerial circuit filled with obstacles the proposed UAV simulator encourages motor and mental activity while the user is being entertained. The result is the improvement of the user quality of life by avoiding cognitive and physical sedentarism.

The study of mechanisms to faciliate the economic development of social groups is of vital importance to social scientists. One of the major contributions to development is the creation of economic clusters that are used together to achieve specific objectives. This consists of identifying business groups, companies, or muncipalities that are spacely disseminated. In this research, we propose a methodolgy, focuses on the results of thematic space analysis to obtain dynamic clusters that have a direct relationship with social associations. The results shows that there is a direct relationship between business potential and centroid groups, which are not excusively tied to distances between places. Although this work is only in its development stages, one of the primary conclusions is that it is possile to take advantage of the centroid space for group collaboration, which will help us to carry out future researchs in this field, and which will be addressed in other lab work.

Higher Education (HE) teachers are aware that the evolution of technology changed the way students build their knowledge. New forms of access to information and new means of communication allowed creating specialized learning tools. It is now important to understand how the students' interaction with learning technologies influences their learning success. For that purpose, data referring to the use of a learning management system (LMS) supporting a specific course was collected and analyzed. Results indicate that a minor correlation exists between the effective use of those tools and student success.

This document proposes to make a contribution to the conceptualization and implementation of data recovery techniques through the abstraction of recovery methodologies and aspects that influence the process, relating human motivation to research needs, whether these are for the Auditing or computer science, allowing to generate classification of recovery techniques in the absence of the metadata provided by the filesystem, in this sense have been proposed to file carving techniques as a solution option. Finally, it is revealed that while many file carving techniques are being implemented in other tools, they are still in the research phase.

Improving the quality in organizations is carried out through improving their processes. So, it is of vital importance to maintain the knowledge of these processes (assets). One way of doing it is using a process asset library (PAL), although there are some problems when defining effective PALs. In this paper, a new practical approach and a brief case study (focused on IT capacity management) are presented.

Cloud computing platforms provide easy and transparent access to a company's storage infrastructure through services. Commonly known as Storage as a Service (STaaS), it allows users to store their data at remote disks and access them anytime from any place. On the other hand, with the deployment of Electronic Document Management (EDM) to manage the insertion, sharing, and retrieval of information assigned to a digital document it is necessary that the processes of searching, indexing and storage of digital documents are carried out efficiently. Besides the use of computational tools focused on archiving digital documents, the storage solution must provide reliability and authenticity on the availability of digital documents. In this scenario, this paper addresses the deployment project of a content-addressable storage infrastructure in a large company and conducts performance evaluation to measure the gains in availability, r/w access and scalability of the proposed solution.

Soil arching effect is a physical phenomenon that allows self-retain to the soil by mean of discontinuous earth retaining structures used to the construction of foundation piles for high-rise buildings. To analyze this phenomenon, a two-dimensional (2D) simplified analysis is currently used, although it offers a mathematical approximation to the solution of the problem, their results significantly reduce the accuracy of the physical model. This article shows an algorithm developed to model the three — dimensional (3D) soil arching effect on the gravel of Santiago de Chile. The algorithm is implemented in a finite element software. This methodology provides more accurate results in the models, which considerably reduces the risk of landslides and optimizes the use of resources in the construction of discontinuous retaining structures. With this contribution it is also possible to establish a new design algorithm for the use of structural engineers that are more accuracy in their results with greater precision in calculations, due to the three-dimensional (3D) model developed. Thus, it can be seen that technology is engaged in everyday activities of structural engineers, providing high reliability information for the decision making respect to the structural design of retaining structures.

Nowadays, the synthesis and characterization of novel zeolites is a significant area in which chemical engineers are working on. The zeolite structure determination is crucial for designing and understanding these materials so as to use them as adsorbents and catalysts. Modern diffraction techniques can normally obtain the cell parameters of zeolites, but they are not capable of solving the location of their atoms, especially for complex zeolites. Here, we propose a novel approach for determining the zeolite structure based on Genetic Algorithms of artificial intelligence area. This proposal takes into account the specific features of the problem domain for designing a suitable fitness function. Moreover, unlike typical genetic algorithm applications, our approach also includes these specific features of the problem when generating the initial generation and when applying the crossover operator, with relevant results. With this proposal, some representative zeolite structures have been found.

The domain of the mother tongue is essential for human communication and for its involvement in society. Oral communication takes on special importance in this relationship with others. The teaching of the Portuguese language has been the subject of discussion in order to improve the education of the language of the country highlighting the fundamental role that schools have in the process. In view of the evolution and ease of access to the technologies, we started a study to identify its potential in the teaching-learning support of the Portuguese language. We focus on the 3rd cycle of basic education where we created the course called "TAEP" (Technologies to Support Portuguese Teaching) where we carry out numerous experiments based on activities related to the curricular goals of the official program of the discipline.

Augmented reality has seen a fast-growing gain of interest in the last few decades. Due to technological advances, smartphones are now devices that allow to experience augmented reality systems, anytime and anywhere. Although its emerging success among users, some problems AR have been reported inhibiting its full acceptance in our digital society. The aim of this paper is to present a study about techniques to implement augmented reality systems in the cultural heritage context, including a prototype to test the technology which, based on physical objects that belong to the landscape, present an effective and accurate augmented reality approach, overlaying 3D virtual models aligned over the real images, using a smartphone's camera.
