The emergence of information technology used in all factors of our everyday lives has exponentially increased the amount of unstructured data. This huge quantity of records is a great source for finding and thus, may be used for extracting actionable information. In the academe, for instance, teachers and school administrators can adjust their approach to teaching/learning by getting feedback from students through a Learning Management System that can automatically analyze the semantic orientation of words and contextual polarity of these feedbacks - categorizing them into positive and negative. Identifying and classifying words expressed in the students' feedback about learning materials can provide structured information that can guide the teacher, impact its design and target the students' needs. This study implemented a lexicon-based strategy for automatic sentiment analysis using VADER as a model. Student feedbacks are extracted from an LMS developed to demonstrate the usability and effectiveness of the adopted approach; among other features of LMS that will help teachers improve its implementation. Results of the LMS sentiment analysis are compared to human-annotated sentiments to verify and validate the output, as well as, check its accuracy using Confusion Matrix. It aims to create a structured representation of student sentiments through LMS to help teachers improve the design of learning materials.

The Covid-19 pandemic changed the teaching modality from blended to fully online for Basic IsiZulu, a second language (L2) module at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In an attempt to compensate for the removal of face-to-face contact, seven video lectures were posted on the Moodle platform. While research into online video lectures reports that students perceive value in the tool, quantitative studies on engagement with online video lectures remain contentious. This study uses the Moodle learning analytics data to quantify student engagement with video lectures and obtain insight into usage. Additionally, survey feedback informs on student satisfaction and aspects of instructional design. The results reveal that for Basic IsiZulu, an average of 35% of the cohort engaged with the online video lectures. In terms of satisfaction, students record high levels of satisfaction and positive perceptions of the instructional design of video lectures. These findings reflect instructional design strategies and concomitant methods to enhance engagement with online video lectures.

Professional master education is oriented by professional practice and aims to cultivate high-level application-oriented talents with strong professional ability. Practice base is an important carrier of professional postgraduate practice education. The teaching system of practice base is an important factor to guarantee the teaching quality of engineering master. Based on the progressive thinking, this paper puts forward three stages of practical teaching system, namely “practice basis management”, “practice mode management” and “practice process management”, and explores the implementation of the integration of industry and education. The practice mode management of “case teaching”, “school project practice”, “innovation competition practice” and “enterprise project practice” is constructed. It has proved that the implementation of practice mode management improves students' practical ability and innovation ability, and meets the needs of economic and social talent development.

With the application and penetration of Internet, artificial intelligence and other technologies in education, promote the development of education to the direction of intelligence. Information & communication technology (ICT) ability is a necessary professional ability for teachers in the era of wisdom education. In this study, a six-factor structure model of teachers' ICT ability was constructed. This study takes primary and secondary school teachers in X District, X City, a demonstration area of smart education, as the research object to explore the influence of gender, age, teaching age, professional title and educational background on teachers' ICT ability. The results show that age, teaching age and professional title have significant influence on teachers' ICT ability. The number of information-based training and teaching and research affects teachers' ICT ability. On this basis, suggestions are put forward to improve teachers' ICT ability, aiming at improving teachers' ICT ability in intelligent environment from various aspects.

Web-Based educational games are a highly interdisciplinary field of research. This paper focused on techniques to go through when developing web-based games, what technologies need to use, what theoretical background needs to follow when developing a web-based educational game. And also we are discussing here the development process of the web-based game that support to exchange and refresh the knowledge of students either inside or outside the classroom. These measures have been a great help for the game players to use this type of game without any restriction. The players do not have to upgrade their system or download the extra plug-in to play the game. At the same time, they don't have to worry about the internet and data limit.

This paper discusses the resource-constrained project scheduling problem with discounted cash flows. Building on a rich literature on this topic, this paper proposes a new set of genetic algorithm (GA) operators. All three crossover and mutation operators are constructed to minimize the process idle time. The variable insertion neighborhood search (VINS) is employed as a mutation operator. Moreover, the elitism and roulette strategies are utilized besides diversifying the population by random generation of additional chromosomes before applying the population update to control the required size. Taguchi Design of Experiment (DOE) is employed to determine the suitable parameter values of GA. The proposed GA is tested on well-known 17,280 standard benchmark projects ranging from 25 to 100 activities. The proposed GA implemented in Julia Language outperforms well-known state-of-art standalone meta-heuristic techniques which may outperform existing hybrid systems if our GA is hybridized.

Panoramic video, as an emerging media presentation technology with low cost and low technical requirements, has the potential of wide application. However, the current empirical studies on the application of panoramic video in education are relatively scattered, lacking systematic analysis of literature in this field, and it is difficult to understand the research focus and trend. Therefore, this study used EBSCO, Web of Science, Elsevier Science Direct Online and Springer database as data sources. A total of 58 high-quality English empirical research articles published between 2011 and 2021 on panoramic video in education were selected as the research samples to conduct co-word analysis and social network analysis for keywords. The results show that the research emphases and trends of the application of panoramic video in education mainly focus on the development and application of panoramic video based on virtual reality, panoramic video technology and the optimization of learner experience. Finally, some suggestions for future research are proposed.

The purpose of this work is to implement a Digital Twin (DT) of a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS), to guarantee student' learning and competence development at specialized labs. In the development of this project two software were employed. The first one is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) to digitalize the physical advanced manufacturing lab. The second one is a Simulation Process Software (SPS) to create the DT and to simulate the virtual fabrication system. This allowed to replicate physical conditions in a digital world, simulate the manufacturing process and finally link the DT to the physical FMS. Results associated to this experiment suggest that digitalizing a physical environment allowed students to: i) comprehend the configuration and equipment movement within a FMS, ii) perform safe free practices with specialized equipment, iii) optimize the functions and movements of industrial robots, and iv) foster the development of competences related to the automation of FMS.

Taking ESP course of International Engineering English as a case study, this article aims to enhance language teaching efficiency via optimizing the teaching design assisted by the Rain Classroom mobile learning platform. The research findings show that the effective improvement of teaching effectiveness can be achieved through three aspects: the in-depth analysis of the course characteristics and teaching objectives, combining with the Rain Classroom to carry out diversified teaching, and adopting the whole process quantitative assessment mechanism. This study provides a feasible approach to reform the ESP language teaching for cultivating interdisciplinary talents in the field of international engineering in China.
