This era of education drives English learners, especially in learning phrasal verbs (PVs), seek the way of learning suitable with their situation. Based on the survey conducted for 115 respondents, it can be gained that more than 90% need an interactive application that is not only easy to use but also provides exercises and grades of achievement. The application they need should be flexible to be accessed every time and everywhere. We accepted the challenge of developing a prototype application that provides PVs material. This paper describes the business process of creating the application that provides interactive learning. The methods used in this research are a survey to seek the respondents’ needs on the application in learning English PVs and a process model of prototyping implementation that accommodates English learners’ needs. The results are the PeVe application prototype which consists of three levels of learning PVs: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Every level contains material, exercises, and quizzes.

The complexity of the current teaching-learning activities is significantly elevated due to the sudden shift from face-to-face and hybrid to fully online experience. Reflective practice (RP) is a chance for teachers to make sense of the sudden shift process in a virtual setting. The trials and errors that might occur indeed become the catalyst of teacher change. This study offers an ecological perspective of RP in a virtual setting. The elaboration shall embrace the exosystem, mesosystem, and micro system of RP ecology. In the end, the exploration reveals aligned support of RP as the source of teacher change. Among the levels, the differences are on the praxis. At exosystem, RP is embedded in a certification program, while meso system includes RP as part of quality assurance system. Implementation of RP itself helps teachers to figure out the new definition of an interactive classroom in an online classroom. Moreover, they find a dialogical reflection based on peers, and their teaching recording support critical RP.

The evaluation process to teachers is a method to ensure that instruction quality has been delivered to various stakeholders. Assessing the performance of faculty members is now an integral part of the educational system as it aims to assess faculty performance using sets of criteria and provide necessary academic intervention program anchored in the development of comprehensive faculty development program. With this, the researchers developed faculty evaluation system integrating decision support mechanism that can provide automatic report generation in terms of evaluation. In addition, a rule-based engine has been integrated as a mean to provide decision support mechanism in terms of automatic development plan. The evolutionary prototyping model was used in the development of the system. Based on expert evaluation result, using the ISO selected criteria, the system recorded a grand mean 4.31 which has an interpretation of “Very Satisfactory” This means that the system is ready for deployment.

Argumentation is an essential aspect of scientific thinking and plays an important role in the research and practice of science education. In recent years, argumentation in the context of socio-scientific issues (SSI) has attracted extensive attention of educational researchers. The purpose of this study is to explore the argumentation characteristics of SSIs in online video learning website. The content analysis method was used to conduct coding and discourse analysis of 112 argumentation discourses in the discussion area of online video learning websites, and revealed the argumentation characteristics of high-likes comments and the different argumentation performances of high-quality and low-quality arguments. The results showed that in the discussion area, Data and Warrant account for the largest proportion, while Rebuttal and Qualifier account for the least. High-quality arguments have more sufficient Claim, Data and Warrant, can proposed difficult Qualifier as well. Low-quality arguments mainly propose Data, with more Off-topic and Rebuttals, which mostly deviates from the argumentation content and lacks logic and scientificity.

Estimating dense depth map from one image is a challenging task for computer vision. Because the same image can correspond to the infinite variety of 3D spaces. Neural networks have gradually achieved reasonable results on this task with the continuous development of deep learning. But the depth estimation method based on monocular cameras still has a gap in accuracy compared with multi-view or sensor-based methods. Thus, this paper proposes to supplement a limited number of sparse 3D point clouds combined with transformer processing to increase the accuracy of the monocular depth estimation model. The sparse 3D point clouds are used as supplementary geometric information and the 3D point clouds are input into the network with the RGB image. After five times integration, the multi-scale features are extracted, and then the swin transformer block is used to process the output feature map of the main network, further improving the accuracy. Experiments demonstrate that our network achieves better results than the best method on the current most commonly used dataset for monocular depth estimation, NYU Depth V2. However, the qualitative results are also better than the best method.

Research has shown that gender inclusive collaborations have higher quality of science. Therefore, to promote increased gender equity and collaboration across the genders proper efforts and policies should be put in place to provide equitable and mixed gender or heterogenous representation. This study quantifies the importance of gender representation by employing a bibliometric analysis of female and male faculty engagement in research in the scholarly area of engineering and technology. The case study is of the Lebanese American University and respective scholarly publications; due to its unique dichotomy of being an American-charted university, with liberal American policies in a patriarchal Middle Eastern country. Our findings demonstrate that policies protecting against discrimination and ensuring equitable gender representation are insufficient and unable to penetrate the last bastion of masculinity within engineering. Female authors remain at a disadvantage within the field, with basically no single author publications or significant all-female homogenous teams works compared to their prolific male counterparts. This case study finds that mixed gender collaboration provides an equitable and comparable scholarly impact for both genders.

In this study, a learning assistant system based on OpenPose and fuzzy technologies is studied for self-practice dynamic Yoga at home. The skeleton information of the human body is extracted through OpenPose. In the pre-processing, the initial frame and key frames of the instructor are selected with Euclidean distance. In the system processing, the initial frame and key frames are used to determine the difference between the instructor and the user. The vector and the angle are calculated with the key points of the instructor and the user. The angle differences between them are used as the inputs of the scoring system based on fuzzy theory to calculate each score. This system synchronizes the time domain of the instructor and the user to effectively, and it correctly selects the user's corresponding frame, and then the system greatly reduces the amount of calculations without losing accuracy. The experimental results show that the proposed system can effectively detect and score the corresponding video frames between the user and the instructor.
