Analysis of the psychometric properties of the Parental Monitoring Questionnaire Parental monitoring has been associated with academic performance, social competence, self-esteem, and adjustment in children and adolescents. The objective of the study was to study the psychometric properties of the Parental Monitoring Questionnaire (PMQ). In a prospective study performed in public schools, with students of the 5th (n=415) and the 6th years (n=379), the PMQ, the Brazil Test, the Self-Concept Assessment Questionnaire and the Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Children were applied, with two collections. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were carried out to evaluate the fit of the structural model. The EFA indicated two factors, paternal monitoring and maternal monitoring, confirmed in the CFA, with acceptable indicators of internal consistency and stability. The PMQ was associated with performance in Portuguese, self-concept and satisfaction with life, particularly regarding the family. Preliminary evidence of instrument reliability and associations suggestive of predictive validity justify further research to validate the PMQ.

This study aimed to verify the effects of developmental variables as age, school grade and gender in the performance of the Test for Identification of Signs of Dyslexia (TISD). In particular from the analysis of the first two, it was also sought to verify validity evidence based on external variables. Participants were 515 children, randomly selected, ages between six and 13 years old (Average=8.46; SD=1.52) and 52% of males. Through the Univariate Analysis of Variance, only effects of age and school grade were found. It was observed that TISD was able to differentiate groups of six, seven, and eight years old and the school grade of the 1st to 4th grade of elementary school. From these results, it was possible to add positive validity evidence to the instrument, in order to motivate the conduction of other research studies of its psychometric qualities.

Performance in Raven's test: Differences between children-adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Reading Disabilities This study compared the performance of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Reading Disabilites (RD) in the Raven's Colored Progressive Matrix Test (RCPM). A total of 70 children and adolescents aged 7 to 14 years, with ASD (n=16), with RD (n=19) and with typical development (TD, n=35) participated. Controlling the effect of age, the results indicated superior performance of the ASD group. The DL group presented inferior performance than the other groups in Part A and in the total test score when compared to the DT group. The performance of the TEA group was discussed from the Theory of Weak Central Coherence, while the performance of the DL group, based on the hypothesis of multiple deficits in dyslexia and considering the impact of less access to written materials in visuospatial skills. Studies of this nature may help in the cognitive characterization of children/adolescents with ASD and DL.

Validity of the Interview Script of Educational Practices for Teachers (RE-HSE-Pr) In the school context, social skills in teachers and children, as well as child behavioral problems, contribute to the social development and learning of the students, however, there is no instrument that evaluates these variables in an integrated way. Therefore, the aim was to investigate the validation of the Interview Script of Educational Practices for Teachers (RE-HSE-Pr) instrument. The RE-HSEPr was developed in a similar way to other pre-existing instruments in which parents are the information source. After validation, it had 9 guide-questions organized on three information axes: Communication, Affection and Establishment of Limits. Participants were teachers of 283 pre-school and school age children, who answered both the RE-HSE-Pr and Teacher's Report Form (TRF). Evaluations of the construct and discriminant validity and reliability were performed, according to technical procedures. Two factors with adequate alpha (positive total; negative total) were identified, and discriminant analyses discriminated cases from non-cases; boys from girls and pre-school children from school children. Psychometric indicators were satisfactory.

Purpose in Life Test: Psychometric Properties and Validity Evidence The meaning of life is the central assumption of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis and the PIL-Test (Purpose in Life Test) has been consolidated as one of the most relevant instruments for its assessment. This study examined the instrument’s factorial structure, whose analyses still sustain a controversy on the most reliable fit to explain it. A total of 200 Psychology students participated in the study, with average age of 23.62 years (SD=7.071). Besides investigating the discriminant power, homogeneity and internal consistency of the instrument’s items, an exploratory factorial analysis was conducted based on the polychoric correlation matrix and the DWLS estimation. The study gathered satisfactory psychometric evidence, indicating a one-factor structure for the matrix of the items with acceptable fit indices, as well as corroborating previous suggestions regarding the exclusion of certain items aimed at a smaller and more parsimonious structure.
生命的意义是意义治疗和存在分析的中心假设,而生活目的测试(PIL-Test, Purpose in Life Test)已被巩固为最相关的评估工具之一。

Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Children: Revision and Standards The Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Children (MLSS-C) assesses life satisfaction in children aged between seven and 12 years, through 50 items distributed among six dimensions. The aim of this study was to revise the psychometric properties of the MLSS-C and create standards for its use. The sample was composed of data from 1181 children aged seven to 13 years (M=10.43; SD=1.78) from studies conducted in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to evaluate the quality of the model fit. The reliability was estimated using Cronbach's alpha and McDonald’s omega. Results showed good model fit after the exclusion of 18 items, the Non-Violence dimension was also removed. Results indicated an improvement of its indexes after psychometric revision and an increase in the internal consistency of the subscales. Percentile standards according to participants’ sex and school year are provided for clinical and research use.
