Comics are an indisputable part of popular culture. But compared to any other audiovisual media products, the production of this form of entertainment is relatively cheap. Thus, on this fact alone comic book artform could be used to fill the demand for local historical genre in popular culture and, in turn, to contribute significantly to the formation of a modern national identity among the youngest generations of the country. However, that is not the only or even the best superpower of the medium when it comes to production of fictional historical epics for entertainment purposes. In this article, the author explores comic medium’s creative aspects that could be used to effectively communicate the various visual aspects of the past. Findings suggest that the most important visual medium’s communicative tool that creates a unique and immersive experience is stylisation, in tandem with spatial and temporal systems. Additionally, the author discusses the challenges and opportunities for comic media to emerge in an educational context.

Creativity is a multifaceted construct that can be defined both in terms of process (e.g.,divergent thinking) and product (e.g., a poem). Across years, it has been related to different cognitive and personality variables, including cognitive styles. The current systematic review aimed to summarize the literature on the relationships between field dependence–independence and creativity, considering both the creative process and creative production approaches. We selected eight studies using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses rules. Findings revealed that a consistent number of studies focused on creative process mainly in terms of divergent thinking instead of convergent thinking, also providing misleading results. Additionally, only two studies focused on creative production, showing that field independents were more creative than field dependents. Given the contradictory results and the paucity of studies, we concluded that the association between field dependence–independence and creativity needs to be further investigated by more accurate empirical explorations. Limitations and future research directions are discussed.

Progressive technologization of society has an impact on an innovative approach to art and culture. New media play an important role in this context by shaping the environments of creative people who refer to regional resources in their work. The main purpose of the paper is to analyse selected theoretical concepts covering the issues of the use of new media art in the context of a symbiotic relationship with the creative environment of the region. The authors use the method of literature analysis and an interdisciplinary synthesis of the achievements of social sciences and humanities. The theoretical assumptions presented before are illustrated by the reference to a part of wider authors’ sociological research – expert debates in the environment of regional creators of new media art. The conclusions indicate potential development trends and especially promising directions for further activities in the field of using new media in shaping the creative environment.

Socio-emotional education is sometimes referred to as the missing part that links academic knowledge to success in school, family, community, workplace, and life. Emotion intelligence is basically a construct that has gained rather great interest nowadays, especially its influence on interpersonal relationships by contributing to optimal social functioning. Recent events both in the country and in the world show how dangerous it is when children do not acquire a solid moral foundation in acquiring knowledge. Meanwhile, socio-emotional education linked to academic teaching helps to solve this issue. Recently, there has been more and more discussions about socio-emotional education and its positive impact on children’s psychological health. Socio-emotional abilities (so-called “emotional intelligence”, “social intelligence”) are the abilities to work together with others, to learn productively, to play the most important roles in the family, community, workplace. Success not only in school but also in later life phases accompanies those students who: a) realistically evaluates oneself and one’s possibilities (self-awareness); b) properly manages their feelings and controls their behavior (self-control); c) accurately interprets the signs of the social environment (social awareness); d) effectively resolves interpersonal conflicts (communication skills); e) makes good decisions in the face of day-to-day difficulties (responsible decision making). Therefore, this paper discusses on how to identify the knowledge and skills of students in socio-emotional education and at the same time to identify certain areas where some gaps still exist.

The study highlights the creative use of deviation as a stylistic device for presenting linguistic innovations in the novel Duty Free (originally published in 2011) written in English by a Pakistani writer Moni Mohsin. It has been explored how and to what extent the eight types of deviation, such as lexical, grammatical, semantic, phonological, graphological, dialectal, deviation of register, and deviation of historical period suggested by Geoffrey N. Leech have been employed by Moni Mohsin in her novel. By identifying how morphological, compound, and idiomatic neologisms have been created, words from native languages have been borrowed, and innovative similes, metaphors, and tautologies rooted in Pakistani culture have been employed, the study helps in understanding the extent to which novel uses of English language create unique stylistic effects, add to the richness and vitality of English, and cause variation simultaneously. Deviation of historical period and certain subcategories of phonological deviation have not been found. The study has implications for Pakistani English, lexicology, stylistic foregrounding, and creative writing in English.

Based on the qualitative data, this paper aims to disclose the role of creativity in the therapeutic process from the perspective of dance and movement therapists in Lithuania. The literature on the concept of creativity and its interlinks with communication and the role of creativity is discussed. Based on the semi-structured interviews with dance and movement therapy practitioners, empirical findings reveal the role and meaning of creativity in the therapeutic process and discuss the elements of creativity in dance and movement therapy: game, spontaneity, and imagination. The practitioners of dance and movement therapy tend to conceptualize creativity broader than the classical definitions suggest. The role of creativity subjectively is interpreted as fundamental in the therapeutic process. It binds all other elements of the therapeutic process (such as movement, dance, and a therapeutic relationship); it is seen as a part of the communicative process between the therapist and a client. More specific identifications of the role of creativity foresee creativity as allowing to make a distance from emotionally painful situations and emotions.

To be digitally responsible, one should be aware of the current issues in the digital world; therefore, raising awareness on digital responsibility and data privacy is important in the public and private sectors. This study aimed to raise awareness on digital responsibility and help students understand the importance of utilizing the design thinking process for generating creative ideas. The authors facilitated a design thinking workshop where 62 students from different cultural backgrounds (Korean and Swiss) and majors collaboratively explored data privacy issues and presented their novel, creative solutions. The data gathered from observations and interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. These students of the digital age developed remarkable ones, such as keeping data safe from social networking services and protecting voice data from being recorded by a third party. The cross-cultural, interdisciplinary team rapidly implemented their creative and globally applicable solutions with visually feasible, diagrammed prototypes, which is an effective tool of the design thinking process. The article demonstrates how design thinking techniques could be applied in university classes and could inspire teachers to use the five stages of design thinking in their teaching.

The 21st century is characterized by challenges and opportunities and become the century of creativity. This is because the individuals develop creative tools to confront the changes that they are living. In this sense the study of attitudes towards creative persons is relevant, especially in the education context, because it permits to develop intervention programs that foster better attitudes on teachers and students. For that reason, the main objective of this research is to develop a questionnaire that allows to measure the attitudes of university students towards creative persons, and, to gather evidence about its reliability and validity. This research was made through an instrumental analytical study, with a sample of students pertaining to several faculties of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. At first, exploratory factor analysis, with a random half of the sample, was made. Secondly, the previous structure was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. The results confirm the three-dimensional structure (behavioral, affective, and cognitive dimensions). The final model exhibits an optimal fit and adequate reliability. The proposed instrument is a valid and reliable measure of the attitudes of the university students towards the creative persons.
