While prior research has provided insights into challenges and capabilities related to effective Big Data use, much of this contribution has been conceptual in nature. The aim of this study is to explore such challenges and capabilities through an empirical approach. Accordingly, this paper reports on a multiple case study approach, involving eight organizations from the private and public sectors. The study provides empirical support for capabilities and challenges identified through prior research and identifies additional insights viz. problem-driven approach, time to value, data readiness, data literacy, data misuse, operational agility, and organizational maturity assessment.

Business processes take an essential role in creating strategic goals for every company. However, It is not easy things in current condition. In the business process, every company has many vulnerable activities to risk. This research was conducted in the company engaged in the manufacturing industry that produces and supplies metalworking oils & fluids. So far, the company has experienced risk events such as late production and late delivery. This research aims to analyse and design the risk mitigation strategies of the company’s supply chain by using House of Risk and Fishbone Diagram approaches. By integrating these two methods, the root of the risk agent can be specifically identified and make it easier to design risk mitigation strategies. The purpose of this research is to analyse and design a risk mitigation strategy using the integrated HOR and Fishbone Diagram approach in the supply chain of a metalworking oils & fluids company. This research indicates twenty risk events, six priority risk agents, sixteen root of risk agents, and six priority mitigation strategies. The six priority mitigation strategies include implementing reward and punishment for better SOP, starting with briefing every day before activities, providing regular training to the employees, hiring great employees, establishing employee performance appraisal effectively, and maintaining machines preventively.

PT. Karya Utama Pratiwi is a company that produces socks from yarn to socks. This company has two parts: the manufacture of socks and the heating section. There are still manual processes in the heating section, or there is still much human intervention. On the contrary, what happens in the sock-making section, which has many machines. The problem that occurs today is that the achievement of production targets is not always achieved, namely as many as 520 finish goods (18720 socks), so the root of the problem is sought. It was found that the production capacity measurement was never carried out, so it becomes the background of research in this study to measure production capacity in the heating section. Capacity measurement begins with measurements at each work station using a predetermined time standard system by paying attention to work movements using the MTM-1 method as input to the ProModel. Initial system simulation results produced an average of 478 in 30 replications. In addition, there are entities experiencing login delays of 10.36 and 21.20 minutes. In some locations, it was seen that they experienced idle time. For example, the oven was 56.97%, above 50%. So, there need to be improvements in order to achieve the target. These things become the basis for making SOPs achieve targets; SOPs are designed and run with ProModel simulations based on possible assumptions. Based on the SOP simulation results, increase production by 2% from the maximum initial simulation conditions from 579 to 594. SOPs will help meet targets and are well executed.
PT.

This study aimed to evaluate the usability of a popular online shopping site. For usability testing, a number of 10 university students were recruited as participants. They were asked to perform two simulation tasks related to online shopping behaviour. Their responses were measured using Tobii Eye-Tracker and Noldus FaceReader. The results showed that the shopping online site under study could be classified as good usability with a high level of effectiveness and efficienty in using the site. The Tobii Eye-Tracker results showed that eye movement as the user's focus was on the product type, specifications, and price. Meanwhile, the FaceReader showed that most participants have neutral facial expression while runningon the site. This study also suggested that improving the performance of shopping sites can be done by focusing more on product types, specifications and prices.

PT. XYZ is a company that produces X shoes. To meet customer needs, it is necessary to design an effective and efficient production line. The problem experienced by the company is that the production target has not been achieved, which is 80 pairs per hour. The daily output that is achieved is less than the predetermined production target, so it is necessary to analyze the line balance. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the causes of not achieving production targets, to determine the value of line efficiency, balanced delay, and smoothness index for each method and to get the right proposal for the company. The research was conducted by describing precedence diagrams and collecting time data from each work element then testing and calculating the standard time, following which line balancing was carried out using the Ranked Positional Weight and Moodie-young. From the calculation results, the results obtained a better line balance using the Moodie-young method, namely, an increase in line efficiency by 27.45% from 57.67% to 85.12%, a decrease in balanced delay by 25.09% from 39.97%. to 14.88%, and a decrease in the smoothness index of 39.55 from 62.62 to 23.08. In addition, there was a decrease in the number of operators working by 2 people, from 16 operators to 14 operators and a reduction in the existing work stations (SK) by 4 SK, from 12 SK to 8 SK.

This research was conducted at PT. FIM which is a manufacturing company that produces food packaging made of plastic (plastic food grade packaging), which has ineffective and inefficient material handling problems. The main objective of this research is to design the facilities layout of PT.FIM to improve the efficiency of material handling. In this research, the integration of the conventional layout method and the CORELAP algorithm was used to determine the optimal work station layout. The research stage begins with calculation of the routing sheet based on the OPC, calculation of the floor area and making of ARC in the production area using the CORELAP algorithm method, while for other facility areas using the conventional layout method. The next stage is making ARD and AAD, and conducting MHPS analysis. From the results of this research obtained a layout design that requires the addition of 6 injection machines, a production floor area of 922m2, a raw material warehouse of 26.65m2, a finished materials warehouse of 63.96m2, a work-in-process warehouse of 85.28m2, supporting materials warehouse of 14.34m2, office area and other facilities area of 462m2. The resulting layout design has a material handling distance difference of 49.3m, and a cost difference of Rp.51,978, with a material handling cost efficiency of 78.67%.","PeriodicalId":402087,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal METRIS","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121541367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
