Communication is a key social component of the human life. The electronic communication plays an important role in the media- and information-oriented society. The evolution of electronic communication results in the appearance of numerous forms of communication that define space-time limits of public communication and cause the qualitative transformations in the communicative processes. The article gives the attention to the matters of the German users’ communicative behavior in such popular communicative environments as: WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. The peculiarities of the communication services studied increase the technical possibilities of the communication process, i.e. they allow to integrate photo, audio, and video in the message text that changes the text parameters. The text that is functioning in the electronic space is characterized by the concise information presenting and gives an insight into the important social, cultural, and political processes in the society. The conciseness as a significant stylistic characteristic of electronic communication texts, in particular: SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, Twitter messages, Instagram messages is achieved by the heavier weight of linguistic means as well as elimination of repetition and unessential details.

Medical translation and interpreting are often viewed as a field of collision for the discourse expectations, values and stereotypes of source and target culture representatives’ discourse behavior. However, the latter are deeply enmeshed in the discourse situation directly impacting their health and well-being, namely during the epidemic flare-ups, influx of contagious diseases etc. Under these conditions, the medical translator/interpreter is supposed to act as an information-sharing intermediary, a link between the experts (physicians, infectiologists, epidemiologists etc.) and non-experts (patients) whose mastery of an array of specialized information clusters demonstrates a culture-specific, contextual and lexico-semantic variation. Our study is aimed at revealing strategies and tactics of rendering epidemic–related medical texts’ discourse features, taking into account their universal and culture-specific linguosemiotic components, addressee’s pragmatic expectations, as well as domain-specific text-constructing norms and stereotypes of the recipient culture. Our study was performed on the material of 251 contexts of biomedical concepts belonging to the “epidemic” and “contagion” domains, among them 83 being in Ukrainian and 168 in English, along with their translation equivalents. Discourse of epidemics was proved to be a platform for realization of biomedical concepts with a pronounced emotive component. Moreover, comparative translation analysis of epidemic-related texts, oriented towards an unprofessional recipient, proves to be a tool of cross-cultural research as an emotive component has different representations in various cultures and gives rise to a number of texts and discourses marked with a transgeneric interference and adaptation. The adaptation’s final stage is assimilation, i.e. a complete subjugation of the generic and stylistic characteristics to the extant target audience’s expectations, or a generic transplantation, i.e. a transfer of generic norms from a source to a target culture.

The article presents a synthesis of the results of many years of research conducted in the framework of my thesis project in the field of audiovisual perception, strategies and difficulties in understanding of audiovisual text. Participants of the study (24 persons) were students learning German, from Kyiv, Ukraine. Two reports, which were pre-selected and analyzed from the Deutsche Welle media portal were used as a research material. The research was conducted on the edge of different spheres of science and is based on the empirical work of media linguistics and psycholinguistics, as well as theoretical and empirical studies of the sphere of audiovisual perception of the theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language and the second native language. The article deals with the term "competency of audiovisual perception", its definition and three target levels. The paper analyzes the results of empirical and theoretical work on difficulties and strategies aimed at overcoming them during audiovisual perception, and shows the differences between the difficulties and strategies of the members of the group of audiovisual perception and listening comprehension. Based on the detailed description of the scientific-theoretical work and the results of empirical research, conclusions are drawn on the subject of the research, namely, the difficulties and strategies of audiovisual perception. The results of the analysis are presented in the light of the novelty and relevance of the research, identified in the introduction. Scientifically-theoretical classifications of visual and audiovisual comprehension strategies were not suitable for use in empirical studies. Visual and audiovisual strategies were generated inductively with retrospective data collected and used as objective categories for the analysis of these data. In addition, the aspects of audiovisual perception that are interesting for further research are explained and discussed.

The article deals with the analysis of the peculiarities of the use of vocabulary and stylistic means in the literary texts of English literature, in particular presented in the stories Dublin es by James Joyce. The main purpose of the article is to highlight the main vocabulary and stylistic tools used by the author and to analyze their pragmatic effect. The analysis of vocabulary and syntactic techniques has been carried out, which shows that these tools are widely used by the author in the texts of Dublin es to create a pragmatic effect: giving the language emotional and expressive coloring, emphasizing and refining the readings, accentuating on important content details. It is noted that the use of different stylistic means is not uniform, which is explained by their peculiarities of expression of the conceptual sphere. Analyzing the frequency of such funds in the texts of the collection Dublin es , we noted the active use of metaphor, epithet, hyperbole, personification, as well as capitalization and rhetorical questions in a comprehensive description of subjects, people, life situations. It is emphasized that the use of metaphor as a reinforcing element and a certain stylistic emphasis in the studied texts of the collection is of particular importance, which is explained by the author’s desire to transfer his own understanding of different situations and to achieve an aesthetic impression. The study of artistic language involves the allocation of a set of labeled elements in the text of a poetic work and the study of those relationships that are established by the linguistic units relevant to identifying characteristics of the work. Such a language analysis is conducted by allocating lexical groups of different volumes (semantic field, lexico-semantic group), which are characteristic of this work in terms of linguistic and extra-linguistic factors. Stylistic analysis is not only broadens the theoretical horizons of a language learner but it also teaches the latter the skills of competent reading, on one hand, and proprieties of situational language usage, on the other. The stories Dublin es are rich in various lexical-stylistic means, which have a positive effect on the verbal content of the work. Moreover, their use is appropriate for conducting descriptions, explanations, refinements, etc.

The article reveals and characterizes the structural, semiotic and narrative aspects of the category of coherence in English multimodal literary fairy tales written by Philip Ardagh that determine its textual character. The communicative and pragmatic meaning of contaminated coherence in the text of English multimodal literary fairy tales written by Philip Ardagh has been realized by micro inclusions (56%), mesoinclusions (33%) and macro inclusions (11%). The communicative and pragmatic meaning of contaminated coherence is based on the explicit and implicit levels of reading the identical information encoded by the addresser Philip Ardagh in the text of English multimodal literary fairy tales. Explicit / fairy-tale level of reading English multimodal literary fairy tale provides information for the children’s audience and is based on a parallel correlation between verbal and iconic components. The implicit / latent philosophical level of reading English multimodal literary fairy tale is aimed at an adult audience and consists of a paragraphemic / graphic component that contributes connotative semantic or prosodic nuances to the meaning of the verbal component. The focus of the text of English multimodal literary fairy tale on two recipients signals the origin of the game which combines simultaneously the subjectivity (inherent to a child recipient) and the objectivity (characteristic of an adult recipient) concerning perception of “magic” events. Symbiosis of verbal and nonverbal channels concerning sensory perception of information performs the function of a multimodal marker / quantum which influences the interpreting capabilities of two distinct recipients decoding their levels of reading the text of English multimodal literary fairy tale.

This article is devoted to the investigation of the main problems encountered by technical translatorswhile translating engineering texts and provision of an alternative solution for them to eliminate translation weaknesses, improve quality, and optimize translation itself. The article defines features of a good quality translation and its requirements. In addition, the ways to overcome various translation difficulties at syntactic, semantic and structural levels are given in the form of recommended translation techniqueswhich are classifiedaccording to specified criteria. The research paperalso provides a practical example of technical translation, the analysis which gives wide opportunities for studying a corpus as an alternative solution for improving thequality of the translation. The article presents types and criteria for a good corpus compilation. Practical usage of a corpus with examples is suggested to outline its main functions and opportunities which can assist any translator in achieving the closest equivalency and adequate translation. The following paper shares experience of developing the Nuclear Corpus and its successful implementationwhile using the most user-friendly corpus managers. The article also demonstrates the advantages of corpus application during translation compared to other modern technologies used in the process of translation. This research encouragesthe idea of further corpus development for the specific translation needs in order to make target texts equivalent at the highest level and meet expectations of the addressees. At the same time, the article makes it possible to study the issue of a corpus further with the purpose to identify new useful opportunities it can provide to facilitate the work of a translator.

The paper highlights the experience of Polish technical universities in students’ foreign languages training quality improvement by different methods and approaches application. The models of studies and varieties of courses of foreign languages training that are used in modern educational environment of Poland are exposed. It is found out on the basis of analysis, that in the process of students’ foreign languages training the Polish tutors use combination of methods and approaches, that correlate the participants of educational process with the character of inter-person cooperation. Taking into account the modern approaches to the educational environment functioning, it is important to mark the features of foreign languages technologies planning in Polish vocational education, which include also the introduction of students differentiation due to the level of foreign language mastering, realization of material understanding verifications, permanent exchange by experience between teachers and scientists that work on introduction of new technologies both in Polish and foreign higher educational establishment, the initiation of research and extra-mural student’s work. It is grounded that aspiration of the Polish teachers to optimize the process of foreign languages training stipulated the improvement of students’ foreign languages training quality. The process of foreign languages studies in the technical universities of Poland takes place with the use of different models and varieties of courses of students’ learning activity organization. In modern terms the efficiency of forms of studies is mostly estimated from the point of assistance to students’ active work at lectures, their way of thinking and imagination development, their responsibility for the studies and collaboration in a group. The practical value of research consists in possibility of positive Polish experience application in domestic higher educational establishments.

The problem of creativity has an interdisciplinary character. Psychologists, philosophers, culturologists, educators, sociologists, literary critics and linguists are engaged in the study of creativity. Different epochs have their distinctive theories on creativity. In antiquity creativity was considered as a special kind of being. Creativity was understood as a human desire for the reproduction of perfect patterns, as God-like art. Only God could create ex nihilo (“from nothing”).
