The research aimed to identify the Critical Success Factors (CSF) related to the Product Development Process (PDP) and adopted by the technology-based companies that form the Associacao Polo Tecnologico do Oeste Catarinense (DEATEC). Therefore, an exploratory research with a quantitative approach was applied to 25 companies participating in the hub. The diagnosis of these includes data about the organizational profile, the PDP and, finally, the analysis of CSF. The results revealed that the management of the PDP in the surveyed companies should include more planned and formal actions, including the CSF, since 60% of these do not use such practices. There is a focus on innovation and adequacy of products to the target market. However, many points are still explored in an ineffective and/or superficial way. In the discussions, the practical implications are presented and the limitations of the research and future research possibilities are pointed out.

This research investigated how graduate companies from incubators establish their knowledge sharing processes to achieve organizational innovativeness. As data collection techniques, individual in-depth interviews, non-participation observation and secondary sources were used. For this purpose, we investigated four graduated companies in an incubator in Caxias do Sul - RS. Content analysis was used as analysis technique. The results indicate that knowledge sharing is not a structured process in all companies and there is a need to transform or take the opportunities it offers to innovations, through collaboration/cooperation with the incubator and other agents in its sector, and to generate competitive advantage - organizational innovativeness. Therefore, in order for this interaction between knowledge sharing and organizational innovation to be effectively established in the companies researched and other companies in the branches and characteristics similar to these - technology-based micro and small enterprises, it is suggested that they align the development of knowledge sharing means to strategic planning, which can facilitate a culture focused on innovation in this sector.

Due to the changes occurred in the industrial environment and the increase in competitiveness among companies, there has been a search for improvements in the management models used for production of products. Among the methodologies used, Lean Six Sigma stands out. It is implemented in different factory environments, aiming variability reduction and defects elimination, which consequently create positive results in relation to customer satisfaction and productivity increase, besides revenue increase. In this context, the present work aims at conducting a study on the implementation of the Lean Six Sigma methodology in an industry of the chemical sector, thus, being characterized as a case study. In order to achieve this purpose, the DMAIC methodology was used, incorporating quality and Six Sigma tools to identify and propose improvements in those parts of the productive process that had shown failures. Overproduction in the organizational context was the kind of wastage studied by this work, and it totalled 285,16 kg of finished product within 2 months of analysis, which corresponds to R$ 905,75 in financial terms. Therefore, the annual cost of the leftovers is equivalent to R$ 5.434,50. The solutions provided for the problem were organized with the support of the 5W2H tool and they are mostly related to the correct measuring of the production supplies and water used in the process.

This article aimed to identify how HRM has been operating in companies in Brazil, in the perception of its internal customers. The HRM Four Faces model, characterized as the executor, builder, change partner and navigator was used. A descriptive survey was conducted using a questionnaire to a sample of 332 employees from companies located in Brazil. The data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate statistics. The results indicated an average assessment on the quality of the HRM, with the face of the executor HRM standing out, which indicates a functionalist performance, centered on operational activities and disconnected from each other and / or from the organization's strategy. Also highlighted was the face of the builder which, likewise, reveals an action centered on HR functions. The comparison with a survey carried out in 2010 shows that there has been no change in HRM performance in companies in Brazil. These results also made it possible to confirm that the construct made up of the four faces allows to assess the quality of HRM as well as to describe and analyze the performance of HRM in different companies.

The importance of innovation management is growing in the context of public policy development. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of public policy instruments for innovation and Innovation Management (IM) in the industrial sector of the state of Alagoas. Specifically, it aims to analyze the performance of industries in relation to the development of an IM methodology, examine the maturity of industrial companies in relation to IM practices, and map the public policy instruments accessed by these industries. For that purpose, exploratory and descriptive research was used, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The study was conducted with 19 (nineteen) industries participating in the IM project, with industries as research units. Regarding the results, the participation in the project and the IM methodology used enabled new practices in the studied units. It was identified that there is an indirect relationship between access to public policy instruments and IM in companies. It was also found that the project contributed to the understanding of the importance of IM. Finally, the results showed that the access of industries to public policy instruments in the nineteen companies surveyed is limited, since only three used the instruments mentioned.

Taking into account the dimension that machines and equipment reached worldwide and the importance of this sector for the state of Santa Catarina, this research seeks to characterize the technological matrix of the industrial sector of machines and equipment by performing a temporal cut in the 2019. The sample was made by representativeness, dividing the Santa Catarina territory into 6 mesoregions (Metropolitana (metropolitan), Norte (North), Oeste (West), Planalto Serrano (Mountainous plateau), Sul (South), Vale do Itajai (Itajai Valley). It sought to describe the interviewees' perspectives in the context of technological innovation and development. The approach made it possible to collect multiple sources of evidence and describe the innovation development process in Santa Catarina, thus forming a rich information framework. The research included 7 micro companies, 8 small companies, 6 medium companies and 6 large companies, totaling 27 semi-structured interviews with key agents. It was concluded that in most cases, a reactive action occurs when searching for and selecting innovation. It was also observed that there is a relationship between the training of the employee and the role played within the organization. As for routines, it is concluded that both formal routines and informal routines aim to institutionalize knowledge, perpetuate actions that generate benefits to the company, prospecting for search and selection of actions and strengthening continuous improvement. Also, in a complementary way, the existence of 5 types of external partnerships within the analyzed ecosystem was detected: customers, suppliers, entities that promote the specialization of the workforce and advice, universities and entities that provide credit.
考虑到机器和设备在世界范围内的规模以及该部门对圣卡塔琳娜州的重要性,本研究试图通过在2019年进行时间切割来描述机器和设备工业部门的技术矩阵。样本采用代表性方法,将圣卡塔琳娜州划分为6个中部地区(Metropolitana(大都市区)、Norte(北部)、Oeste(西部)、Planalto Serrano(山地高原)、Sul(南部)、Vale do Itajai(伊塔贾伊山谷)。

This study aims to identify which quality-related lean practices are more likely to reduce the scrap index to less than 5%. A survey was applied to collect data from professionals who coordinate production areas or those responsible for quality programs of 92 manufacturing industries in the State of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. Descriptive statistics and the logistic regression technique were used to analyze the practices that most affect the company's scrap index. As a result, it was identified that more mature levels of use of error-proof devices in the manufacturing processes (poka-yokes) and standardization of activities increase the likelihood of the scrap index being below 5%. The most mature practices are standardization and inspection. Still, most of the companies surveyed are at an early stage of adopting lean practices related to quality. This research brings a new look on the subject so that managers can prioritize quality practices with the most significant effect in reducing waste. Although limited to a single Brazilian state, the study shows results that can help industrial managers choose lean practices that improve the scrap rate and, consequently, increase quality and reduce failure costs.

Society has been demanding greater participation of public organizations in the management and stricter monitoring of the quality of services, creating the need for new ways of bringing governments closer to society, and with social networks being a means of communication between these actors. So this study aimed to compare the average virtual activity of Rio Grande do Sul municipalities on Facebook considering demographic, financial and political factors. For this purpose, 60 municipalities in the Rio Grande do Sul were investigated. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test for independent samples and Mann-Whitney test. The main results indicate that for the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, the virtual activity on Facebook, on average, is different according to the number of page fans, the population size, the number of elderly people, the number of people with higher education, the economic capacity and electoral participation of municipalities (p 0.05). Municipal managers can use these results to develop new publishing practices on their social networks, capable of promoting activities that cover the public service more dynamically and attractively.

The use of predictive machine learning models for big data is today one of the main trends to be explored by data science. Its application to the business world for a search of competitive differential is directly related to Business Intelligence so companies can make more assertive decisions. Thus, this paper proposes to apply a machine learning technique to create a product recommendation system based on customers' purchase profile, modeled for a product distribution company. For this purpose, the K-means clustering algorithm was used to group customers based on their purchase profile. Finally, the recommendation system's principle is based on a comparative analysis between customers in the same cluster and based on their geographic distances to recommend that item that sells well in one point of sales but does not perform so well in another. At the end of the application 70 clusters were generated for the entire range of customers of the company focused in the present study. Each customer in each cluster received a list containing 5 recommended products based on the comparison made with their close neighbors of similar buying profile.

Its application to the business world for a search of competitive differential is directly related to Business Intelligence so companies can make more assertive decisions. Thus, this paper proposes to apply a machine learning technique to create a product recommendation system based on customers' purchase profile, modeled for a product distribution company. For this purpose, the K-means clustering algorithm was used to group customers based on their purchase profile. Finally, the recommendation system's principle is based on a comparative analysis between customers in the same cluster and based on their geographic distances to recommend that item that sells well in one point of sales but does not perform so well in another. At the end of the application 70 clusters were generated for the entire range of customers of the company focused in the present study. Each customer in each cluster received a list containing 5 recommended products based on the comparison made with their close neighbors of similar buying profile.","PeriodicalId":41767,"journal":{"name":"Navus-Revista de Gestao e Tecnologia","volume":"10 1","pages":"01-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68295217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the perspective of governance literature, it is argued that the board of directors’ efficiency in its disciplinary role, having the function of protecting patrimony, resides essentially in the way in which it is structured. The board of directors is expected to perform different functions, for example, management monitoring, which provides the company strategic orientation. Therefore, this article has the objective to verify the relationship between the characteristics of the board of directors and the business performance of companies listed in the B3’s “Cyclical Consumption” segment in the years ranging from 2010 to 2017. The study is characterized as descriptive, performed through documentary analysis and quantitative approach. The population is composed of 82 companies, encompassing a sample of 48 of these with governance level. To measure corporate performance, Tobin’s ROA, ROE and Q variables were used, and as a characteristic of the board of directors the variables selected were: independence of the board of directors, the size of the board,a dummy variable to find director duality, and a dummy for governance level, for control variable, and company size. For data analysis, the regression of unbalanced panel data was done using Gretl® statistical software. The results pointed to a negative and significant relation between board independence, director duality, and corporate governance level with its performance. The board of directors and company size did not present a significant relation.
