Through N-acylation of a- or b-amino acid units by 2-(3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-5-yloxy)acetic acid using the method of N-hydroxysuccinimide esters new dipeptide indan-1-one derivatives were obtained. In general, the direct interaction of the acetic carboxyl group of the substrate with the amino group of the a- or b-dipeptide is a more productive strategy than the sequential peptidic condensation of the two amino acids.

The structure and morphology of new biocide compositions based on silver nanoparticles and silica/polyacrylamide hybrids, as well as their diverse biological effects on traditional hospital infections and wound healing and winter wheat cultivation, were studied. The compositions showed a high bactericidal effect against bacteria of the genera Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas, and fungistatic effect against the yeast genus Candida and filamentous fungi of the genera Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Exophiala, and Fusarium. They also showed high activity in wound healing in rats and significantly changed the rate of development of winter wheat plants due to presowing treatment of seeds.

The level of studying of Inula L. genus species, growing on the territory of Ukraine, is insufficient today. The study of chemical composition, accumulation of biologically active substances, pharmacological action of investigated grass species’ extracts of Inula L. genus of Ukrainian flora are of current interest. The aim of the work is making qualitative and comparative analysis of ascorbic, organic acids and tannic substances content in the raw material of investigated species of Inula L. genus (Inula britannica L. and Inula helenium L.). Quantitative determination was carried out by volume titration method. The presence of ascorbic acid, organic acids and tannic substances in the raw material of Inula L. genus investigated species was established with the help of paper chromatography and thin-layer chromatography methods. The quantitative determination of total organic acids was carried out according to XI edition of State Pharmacopoeia methods in terms of malic acid. Water extracts were studied for the tannins presence in raw material of Inula L. genus investigated species. Compounds identification was carried out through chemical reactions in accordance with Ukrainian State Pharmacopeia. The results obtained showed the perspective of further study of the biological activity of Inula britannica L. and Inula helenium L.

A new approach to the development of a number of azolo-condensed azepines and diazepines has been proposed. The method for the synthesis of [1,3]thiazolo[3,2-b][2,4]benzodiazepine, benzimidazo[1,2-b][2,4]benzodiazepineandbenzimidazo[1,2-b][2]benzazepinederivatives involves the reaction of [2-(bromomethyl)phenyl](4-chlorophenyl)methanonewith5-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-amine, 1H-benzimidazol-2-amineand1,2-dimethyl-1H-benzimidazole. The formation of the quaternary salt of the initial diazole has been done under mild conditions in MeCN. The following intramolecular condensation has been realized by heating 2-amino azolium salts in AcOH or in Et3N as in the case of 2-methyl azolium salt. The structures of these cyclic compounds have been confirmed by mass spectrometry measurements, elemental analysis and NMR spectra.

The relationships between the adsorption of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) of various molecular weights onto nanosilica and the stability and rheological properties of the aqueous dispersions were analyzed. The adsorption isotherms for the polymers correspond to the Langmuir-type isotherms. The adsorption maximum slightly increases with increasing molecular weight of the polymers. The sedimentation and aggregative stability of the silica dispersion decreased at a low amount of an adsorbed polymer (less than a monolayer). At this polymer content, a significant increase in the viscosity of dispersions is observed due to the formation of polymeric bridges between silica nanoparticles from neighboring aggregates of them. If the amount of adsorbed polymer exceeds the monolayer then the stabilizing effect is observed due to the steric factor preventing the bridge formation and the viscosity of dispersion decreases slightly compared with systems with a low polymer content.

The nanoscaled (up to 30 nm) TiC, ZrC, HfC, VC, NbC and TaC monocarbides with NaCl-type structure have been synthesized from the elemental metals and the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by mechanical alloying in a high energy planetary ball mill in an argon atmosphere. The powders obtained were examined by X-ray diffraction method. It is shown that mechanical alloying is accompanied by a decrease in the lattice parameters of MeC carbides formed and by a decrease of the total number of atoms in their crystal structure, i.e. by an increase of structural vacancies in the materials obtained. On the whole, monocarbides obtained can be arranged by the simplicity of their formation in a ball mill as: HfC -> ZrC -> TiC -> TaC -> NbC -> VC.

The present review represented the advanced synthetic strategies for chromones annulated at the C(7)-C(8) bond with five-membered, six-membered, and seven-membered oxygen-containing heterocycles with two heteroatoms, such as 6H-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-h]chromen-6-one, 2,3-dihydro-7H-[1,4]dioxino[2,3-h]chromen-7-one, 3,4-dihydro-2H,8H-[1,4]dioxepino[2,3-h]chromen-8-one, 2,3-dihydro-1H,7H-chromeno[7,8-b][1,4]oxazin-7-one, 4H,12H-pyrano[2,3-a]phenoxazine-4-one and 9,10-dihydro-4H,8H-chromeno[8,7-e][1,3]oxazin-4-one. The biological activity of naturally occurring and modified synthetic fused hetarenochromones has been also highlighted.

Cyclic sulfamides are attractive molecules with potential application in medical chemistry. It is known that thiadiazepine-containing derivatives demonstrate promising value in the development of protease inhibitors such as HIV protease, serine protease and metaloprotease. We demonstrate here a comfortable synthetic sequence to symmetric thiadiazepines containing isoxazole substitutents. The structure of the obtained substances was confirmed by 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy.

Character of influence of the strontium atoms replacement by smaller atoms of calcium on structure features of the Ruddlesden-Popper (Sr,Ca)LaScO4 (A2BO4) single-slab compoundis established. Structure of phase with a maximum degree of replacementhas determined by the Rietveld method. It is shown that such type of substitution increases a degree of AO9 interblock polyhedra deformation, mutual inclination of the BO6 octahedra and a decrease of A - О interblock bond. Presence of structure changes is the precondition for regulation of structural-dependent features of the materials on the base of scandates alkaline-earth and rare earth metals.
