Random sampling algorithm in RFID indoor location system RFID室内定位系统中的随机抽样算法

In this paper, low cost radio frequency identification (RFID) indoor location scheme is proposed by deploying RFID tags and implementing a new localization algorithm to make person holding RFID reader know where he is in real time. In this algorithm, the person's state space is represented by maintaining a set of random samples. And a localization method that can represent arbitrary distributions is proposed by using a sampling-based representation. Comparison between proposed algorithm and least square (LS) algorithm in TOA indicated that the positioning errors of the proposed algorithm are lower than LS under the nonline-of sight (NLOS) scenarios. For the case that LS is not available when less than three tags deployed, however, the proposed algorithm can keep track of person.

Microwave resonators and their use as measurement instruments and sensors 微波谐振器及其作为测量仪器和传感器的用途

Microwave resonators of very high Q-factors, as high as 109 , can currently be manufactured. In this paper, an overview of different resonant structures used for measurements of dielectric properties of materials at microwave frequencies, and that can be as electromagnetic sensors of other physical quantities such as humidity, chemical reactions and level of paramagnetic impurities has been presented. Potential applications of microwave are not widely known outside the microwave community, and hence a goal of this paper is to disseminate the information to a wider engineering community

In this paper, some aspects of the growing number of international students (mainly from Asia) entering European universities are discussed. It is argued that this form of internationalization is laudable but has some interesting effects on our universities and local economy. These points are reviewed as a discussion paper.

MicroPhotonic remote sensor for perimeter security 用于周边安全的微光子遥感器

This paper addresses the issues inherent in electromechanical beam scanning which has found a new application in perimeter security. Through passive optics and MicroPhotonics, we introduce an architecture for a novel inertia-less long range laser scanner, based on the concept of an optical cavity featuring adaptive beam spacing. We also explore the feasibility of object detection based on intensity profiles.

Developing an effective microcontroller course based on field-programmable mixed-signal /spl mu/-controller product 基于现场可编程混合信号/单片机/控制器产品开发一门有效的单片机课程

The paper presents and discusses criteria employed to choose a /spl mu/-controller that has been used as the base for teaching the undergraduate course on Design for Computer & Communication System at Massey University, New Zealand. The contents of the course, lecture materials and lab projects emphasising on several specific topics are outlined. The successful results shown by the students both at exams and in-course work are a good indicator that a sufficient appreciation of the /spl mu/-controller technology and its applications has been established.

Minimizing simultaneous switching noise (SSN) using modified odd/even bus invert method 利用改进的奇/偶总线逆变法最小化同时开关噪声(SSN)

In high speed digital circuits, the inductive effect is more dominant compared to capacitive effect. In particular, as the technology is shrinking, the spacing between interconnects becomes less which increases simultaneous switching noise (SSN) or M(di/dt) noise. So earlier methods proposed which concentrate on reducing capacitive effect do not hold good. This paper proposes a modified odd/even bus invert scheme, which reduces the simultaneous switching activity, thereby improving the signal integrity. The performance of the proposed coding scheme has been tested on various benchmarks and it is found that SSN or M(di/dt) is reduced by 28% compared to data transmitted unencoded. The proposed codec has been designed and it has been found that power overhead is 3.3%.

A hybrid scheme for temporal video segmentation 一种时间视频分割的混合方案

Video temporal segmentation is normally the first and important step for content-based video applications. Although existing research on shot cut detection is active and extensive, it still remains a challenge to achieve accurate detection of all types of shot boundaries. In this paper, we propose a hybrid scheme to combine some features and techniques for detecting all sorts of shot cuts inside general videos. The hybrid scheme contains two processing modes, which are unified by a mode-selector to decide which mode the scheme should work on in order to achieve accurate temporal video segmentation. Via using the publicly test data set from Carleton University, we report extensive experimental results to evaluate the proposed algorithm. In comparison with existing algorithms, the experimental results support that the proposed algorithm outperforms the benchmark in terms of the precision-recall rates in detecting all types of shot cuts.

Design of high-speed metal-semiconductor-metal photodetectors: an optimization-based approach 高速金属-半导体-金属光电探测器的设计:基于优化的方法

The finger sizing of interdigitated Schottky-barrier metal-semiconductor-metal photodetectors (MSM-PD) is discussed in this paper. We observe that a MSM-PD geometry with fast response speed can be determined by solving a special form of optimization problem called posynomial programming, for which very efficient global optimization methods have been developed. Our method, therefore, yields completely automated finger sizing of MSM-PD, directly from specifications.

Segmentation of ultrasound image based on morphological operation and fuzzy clustering 基于形态学运算和模糊聚类的超声图像分割

This paper presents a system for segmentation of ultrasound images. The system consists of two parts: local contrast enhancement and segmentation. The scheme for enhancing local contrast of images without speckle noise emphasis based on multiscale morphology is presented in the system. The intensity values of the scale-specific features of the image extracted using multiscale transformation are modified so as to enhance local contrast and suppress noise. Then, a new algorithm, called an alternative fuzzy c-mean (AFCM), is used for segmentation of ultrasound image. The unsupervised segmentation algorithm can help further to reduce the ultrasound imaging noise effects originating from the structures. We demonstrate effectiveness of the system for ultrasound image segmentation in experiments.

An approach to extending Object-Z with real-time 一种实时扩展Object-Z的方法

This paper introduces Real-Time Object-Z, a language with real-time extensions to Object-Z, and describes the characters of real-time system: delay, timeout and multithread. Real-Time Object-Z consists two parts: functional specification and filter specification. The both for any time critical system can be developed with two parts. Functional specification developed with Object-Z formerly can be reused. The main benefit is that it is convenient to deal with the timing variables defined in the specification developed with our approach. The effective specification after applying filter part to functional part holds the form of specification developed with Object-Z. Hence, the specification can benefit from existing reasoning systems or inference rules potentially. Using our approach, we can develop real-time specification and reason about the real-time properties conveniently.
