This study delves into the linguistic characteristics within the structure of extremist discourse across social media platforms, focusing on a collection of speeches by the Islamic State organization (ISIS). The research aims to uncover the thought process and the underlying meanings that can be analyzed through what is known as the Stylistic Footprint. That is done by examining semantic and syntactic levels, identifying repetitions and intensifications of specific lexical units, and considering their use of rhetorical tools and strategies grounded in their linguistic repertoire—which encompasses connotations and phonetic rhythms, or their deliberate choices in the structure of syntactic relation networks including stylistic deviations from the standard expression level.The findings of this analysis highlight that exploring the extremist thought structure embodied in linguistic discourse is a crucial aspect of criminal investigations. It aids in identifying warning signals that precede or potentially predict acts of violence in some instances. Furthermore, it contributes to developing more convincing counter-narratives to combat extremist discourse by studying the stylistic features of the extremist language.

This Research seeks to clarify signs and indicative connotations contained in the latest poetic experiences of the poet Mohammed Abdelbari in his Collection (Diwan) titled: “Song for Crossing the River Twice”. The latter was characterized by indicative and semiotic features on multiple levels. Therefore, the first section focused in studying the semiotics of textual parallelism across three themes: semiotics of the title, semiotics of quotation, and the semiotics of visual formation. In addition, the second section studies the semiotics of the structure of the poetic text through three themes: the linguistic sign, numerical sign, and the color sign, using the data of the semiotic approach based on monitoring and tracking the main signs in the poetic experience, and identifying their indication.

Terminology serves as a conduit to knowledge, and understanding the essence of a term is unattainable without delving into its definition, which elucidates its meaning, acting as a conceptual counterpart to the term itself within the framework of a conceptual triangle analogous to Ogden and Richards' semantic triangle. Specialized lexicography fundamentally relies on terminological definition influenced by logical universals, focusing on concepts rather than objects, distinct from traditional logical definitions. It transitions from concept to term, establishing concepts through consensual definitions. This study, is to the researcher's knowledge the first of its kind to analyze Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim's "Lexicon of Jurisprudential Terms and Expressions," aims to uncover the foundational principles of definition employed within, along with its lexicographical influences such as arrangement and the nature of terms from simplicity to complexity. The researcher's methodology involves analyzing a selection of definitions from the lexicon to extract the employed definitional techniques."Lexicon of Jurisprudential Terms and Expressions" stands out as a modern specialized dictionary focusing exclusively on jurisprudence among other Islamic Sharia sciences, distinguishing it from other jurisprudential dictionaries that may focus on a specific jurisprudential book or jurist, or those that amalgamate jurisprudential terms with terms from various other fields. This study aims to uncover the technique of description in the biography of Al-Mutawakkil Ṭāhā " Snake Sand: The Biography of Ketziot Anṣār Detainee 3," which served as a vivid example of creativity born from the crucible of suffering in the depths of prisons, the darkness of Israeli occupation cells. It examines how the description evolves from one scene to another based on the psychological state endured by the author and the detainees. Research Problem: The biography was written under difficult conditions that differ from those of other literary works, conditions experienced by the prisoner in the darkness of cells, which imbue it with unique psychological dimensions, harsh challenges, and aesthetic illuminations. All of this is accomplished through the use of descriptive techniques to establish time and place settings, present characters, and capture actions, visions, dreams, and marvels. The research used a descriptive-analytical methodology to study the description and its manifestations in Al-Mutawakkil's biography. It yields several key findings, including: The author focused on describing the oppressions of the occupier in the setting represented by their confinement in desert prisons, turning these places into hostile territories. The prison became a place that shackled the author, physically and psychologically, confining them to a specific spot within it, devoid of the freedom to move even between different sections of the prison. The author emphasized describing antagonistic places, such as detention centers and prisons, while also highlighting attempts to adapt and humanize them.

This study delves into the nuanced perception of black and white colors within the realm of Andalusian and Omani poetry, focusing on the works of Ibn Khafaja and Sulaiman bin Muzaffar al-Nabhani. It aims to uncover the depth of these poets' engagement with color, examining how they utilize black and white to articulate their personal dilemmas and psychological intricacies that surface through their poetic expressions. This exploration is anchored in the belief that color serves as a versatile poetic motif, with the poetic rendition of color experiences offering a reconstitution of reality tailored by the poets' psychological states, thereby rendering color projection as a means of catharsis. Employing Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory as its foundational methodology, this research probes into the unconscious elements of poetic creation, viewing it as a vehicle for expressing the suppressed aspects of the human psyche. This study aimed to explore the representation of the Other in the customs and traditions of Oman's people within the touristic discourse, using "A Suspicious Journey from India to England – An Early 19th Century Gulf Portrait by William Heid" as a case study. Recognizing that the study of humanity is, in essence, the study of all human beings and considering that place holds cultural value emanating from the amalgamation of people's customs, traditions, and ways of thinking—known as the site's stratigraphy, which distinguishes one personality from another—the research sought to highlight the image of the Other in the customs and traditions of Oman as portrayed by Heid. It questioned whether these portrayals could serve as a tourist attraction for the Arabian Gulf region, particularly Muscat, and how Heid managed to employ the Omani people's customs, traditions, and behaviors as a tourist attraction for the Arabian Gulf. Given that customs and traditions represent an intriguing element for discovering the Other, the discourse in some of its forms is a principal component of linguistic communication in tourism. Through strategic use, it transforms the narrative element into a tool for expressing the aesthetics of the visited city, portraying the behaviors of its inhabitants and its various dimensions.The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach, where the researcher examined the report and focused on the key customs and traditions highlighted by Heid in his discourse; these serve either as sources of tourist attraction or repulsion. The study concluded that Heid relied on depicting the landmarks he observed, contributing to correcting the receiver's image and enhancing the cultural aspect.

The study attempted to look beyond the pre-Islamic discourse in the Mu’allaqat of Zuhair bin Abi Salma and Tarfa bin Al-Abd, aiming to reveal the rhetorical political system which leads to obtain the appropriate societal acceptance or rejection, and the effect on the life of the discourse producer or the poet. The study chose two poets who are different in terms of their styles, and their social and political status. It focuses on this difference’s impact on the systematic discourse, the tribal response, in addition to the political end of both of their lives, based on their systemic awareness in their Mu’allaqat. The study included a theorization concerned with the cultural system, its nature, characteristics, and the conditions of the systemic function. It focuses on criticism and its relationship to politics and the task of the critic, in addition to an execution for this analogy on the two Mu’allaqat, on the technical level of the introduction to the poem and the relationship of this level to the discourse for which it was produced.

لقد استطاعَ الإنسانُ بالعلامات ومن خلالهَا أن يعبُر من العالم الطبيعي المادي إلى العالم الثقافي الرمزي، لقد استطاع أن يُنتِج فكره الخاص، وأن يبني ذاكرته الجماعية الوضعية، تارك وراءهُ كلَّ الكائنات بلا فكرٍ ولا مرجع ولا ذاكرة، تعيش وفق مسارٍ طبيعي لا يتغير، أي وفق مسار نمطي يتكرر؛ ولكنه لا يتطور. إِنَّ العلامةَ هيَّ الوسيلة التي من خلالها تأنسن الإنسان، وخلَّص نفسه من إكراهات الطبيعة، إلى رحابة الثقافةِ التي منحتهُ أدواتٍ رمزية أودعَ فيها قيَمهُ وآمالَهُ وأحلامَه، وضمّنها عاداته وتقاليده. لقد مكنت العلامات الإنسانَ من إعادةِ صياغةِ الوجودِ خارج إكراهات التجسيد والحضورِ الماديّ للأشياء، لقد يسرتْ له مَفْهَمَة الكون وسَمْيَأَتَهُ، يسرت له تقطيعه وتصنيفه داخل عوالم تجريدية رمزية مخصوصة. وبذلك تمكَّن من امتلاك هذا الكون ذهنيًا والإمساك بدلالاته معرفيًا، حتى غدا متحكمًا فيه بتجريداته الذهنية واستبدالاته الرمزية. تلكم هي الدعوى أو الفرضية الأساس التي يُحاجج لأجلها كل سميائي. وهي نفسها الدعوة التي نسوق لأجلها هذا البحث، على هدي خلفيةٍ معرفية نظرية، منطلقها السميائيات التأويلية، وموضوعها العلامة وسيرورة التدليل اللامتناهية. يهدف هذا البحث إذن، إلى رصد مكونات العلامات وآليات اشتغالها من منظور سميولساني، وذلك من خلال ثلاثة محاور: خُصِّص المحور الأول لبيان الخلفية المعرفية التي استندت إليها السميائيات التأويلية في بلورة التصور العام للعلامة. وخُصِّص المحوران الثاني والثالث للوقوف عند تفاصيل هذا التصور.
{"title":"السميائيات التأويلية: بحث في مستويات الإدراك والتأويل","authors":"عبدالسلام إسماعيلي علوي, عبد الرحيم دودي","doi":"10.29117/ansaq.2022.0166","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29117/ansaq.2022.0166","url":null,"abstract":"لقد استطاعَ الإنسانُ بالعلامات ومن خلالهَا أن يعبُر من العالم الطبيعي المادي إلى العالم الثقافي الرمزي، لقد استطاع أن يُنتِج فكره الخاص، وأن يبني ذاكرته الجماعية الوضعية، تارك وراءهُ كلَّ الكائنات بلا فكرٍ ولا مرجع ولا ذاكرة، تعيش وفق مسارٍ طبيعي لا يتغير، أي وفق مسار نمطي يتكرر؛ ولكنه لا يتطور. إِنَّ العلامةَ هيَّ الوسيلة التي من خلالها تأنسن الإنسان، وخلَّص نفسه من إكراهات الطبيعة، إلى رحابة الثقافةِ التي منحتهُ أدواتٍ رمزية أودعَ فيها قيَمهُ وآمالَهُ وأحلامَه، وضمّنها عاداته وتقاليده. لقد مكنت العلامات الإنسانَ من إعادةِ صياغةِ الوجودِ خارج إكراهات التجسيد والحضورِ الماديّ للأشياء، لقد يسرتْ له مَفْهَمَة الكون وسَمْيَأَتَهُ، يسرت له تقطيعه وتصنيفه داخل عوالم تجريدية رمزية مخصوصة. وبذلك تمكَّن من امتلاك هذا الكون ذهنيًا والإمساك بدلالاته معرفيًا، حتى غدا متحكمًا فيه بتجريداته الذهنية واستبدالاته الرمزية. تلكم هي الدعوى أو الفرضية الأساس التي يُحاجج لأجلها كل سميائي. وهي نفسها الدعوة التي نسوق لأجلها هذا البحث، على هدي خلفيةٍ معرفية نظرية، منطلقها السميائيات التأويلية، وموضوعها العلامة وسيرورة التدليل اللامتناهية. يهدف هذا البحث إذن، إلى رصد مكونات العلامات وآليات اشتغالها من منظور سميولساني، وذلك من خلال ثلاثة محاور: خُصِّص المحور الأول لبيان الخلفية المعرفية التي استندت إليها السميائيات التأويلية في بلورة التصور العام للعلامة. وخُصِّص المحوران الثاني والثالث للوقوف عند تفاصيل هذا التصور.","PeriodicalId":448717,"journal":{"name":"Ansaq journal","volume":"214 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115977153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
