This article presents a study on the immigration of Italians to the city of Valencia over the last decade. The main objectives of the study were to analyze the demographic composition and the motivations of displacement. The study has been carried out with a mix-method including statistic data analysis, digital ethnography and in-depth interviews. The results indicate that this is a migratory flow composed of young adults, alone and with parenting families. The causes of migration are not strictly economic, but related to the search for a better quality of life, in which elements such as the possibility of having more and better public services (health, education, transport, etc.) and a stricter respect for the rules that regulate coexistence stand out. The main conclusion is that classic migration theories are not able to explain this emerging flow.

This article addresses the uses that young people from middle sectors of Buenos Aires deploy in dating applications. At the methodological level, an exploratory investigation was carried out, which consisted of the thematic analysis of a thousand profiles and 20 structured interviews with young users of Tinder, Happn and OkCupid. Among the results, 3 emerging trends stand out. In the first place, the “gamification”, which refers to the playful and competitive experience, similar to that of the videogame, which implies the online sex search, in the sense of unraveling strategies and displaying skills to obtain a higher score (likes, matches). Second, the “surface consumption”, which refers to a way of relating to profiles as objects of consumption, which implies not only voyeurism but a constant selection of candidates. Finally, the “daily management of networks and applications” that implies a demanding performance on one’s identity in order to excel in the digital ecosystem.

The media coverage of armed conflicts tends to focus on the attribution of responsibilities and the humanitarian or security frames, as the main studies about media and conflicts have asserted. The present research analyzes the frames used in media outlets such as El Mundo and El País (Spain), HispanTV (Iran) and RT (Russia), in their coverage of wars in Yemen and Ukraine. Through innovative and machine learning techniques (particularly, SVM), the authors demonstrate that RT and HispanTV do not follow the traditional routines of mass media, and that the use of frames rely more on the geostrategic position of their countries of origin.

Este trabajo analiza cómo se incorpora el fact-checking en el periodismo mexicano, tomando en cuenta la experiencia de Verificado 2018. Se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad con periodistas que colaboraron en el proyecto. Los resultados indican que los periodistas de Verificado 2018 conciben al fact-checking como parte del periodismo tradicional y su objetivo democrático. No obstante, señalaron fallas en la práctica del periodismo en México y amenazas por el creciente fenómeno de noticias falsas. En este contexto, Verificado 2018 apostó por alternativas en el desempeño de sus labores de fact-checking, como una relación más horizontal con fuentes, interacción con el público, periodismo colaborativo y notas de educación mediática. Empero, consideraron que Verificado 2018 no tuvo una misión activista. Verificado 2018 avivó la discusión sobre la calidad del periodismo mexicano y de qué forma periodistas pueden contribuir a su mejora.

espanolEl articulo trata de proponer un dialogo entre los Estudios Post-coloniales, los cuales representan un enfoque critico que pretende abordar los multiples efectos del colonialismo en el seno de las culturas (post)coloniales, y las propuestas de la Filosofia para la Paz promovida por Vicent Martinez Guzman. El objetivo de esta aproximacion comparativa es examinar los posibles puntos de encuentro entre los dos proyectos, asi como sus respectivas aportaciones con miras a la promocion de culturas para la paz y la interculturalidad. Aparte de su critica a los sistemas de saber hegemonicos y las violencias que generan, los dos proyectos tambien realizan una tarea reconstructiva, haciendo hincapie en proponer una educacion para la paz que trata de reconstruir el horizonte normativo que explicite nuestras competencias para hacer las paces e incrementar la convivencia pacifica en un mundo que cada vez se esta haciendo mas globalizado e interrelacionado. EnglishThe article seeks to propose a dialogue between post-colonial studies, which represent a critical approach that aims to address the multiple effects of colonialism within (post)colonial cultures, and the proposals of Philosophy for Peace expounded by Vicent Martinez Guzman. The objective of this comparative approach is to examine the possible concurring points between the two projects as well as their respective contributions with a view to promoting cultures for peace and intercultural dialogue. Apart from their criticism to hegemonic systems of knowledge and their associated forms of violence, both projects also carry out a reconstructive task by proposing an education for peace that seeks to reconstruct the normative horizon that makes explicit our competences to make peace(s) and increases peaceful coexistence in a world that is becoming increasingly globalized and interrelated.

espanolEl uso de las redes sociales online (RSO) esta originando una linea de investigacion centrada en el fenomeno de adiccion que se produce por utilizar de forma intensa las tecnologias e Internet, especialmente en grupos poblacionales tan vulnerables como los jovenes y adolescentes. Esto ha repercutido en la busqueda de instrumentos para su diagnostico, terreno donde han ganado espacio las escalas de autopercepcion. Esta investigacion se planteo validar y adaptar al contexto mexicano la escala de adiccion a las redes sociales elaborada por Sahin (2018). El instrumento resultante constituye una herramienta util, dada la inexistencia de una de su tipo en la literatura academica mexicana, para recoger informacion del grado de adiccion a RSO en jovenes y adolescentes. EnglishThe use of online social media has opened a line of inquiry focused on the phenomenon of addiction as a result of the intensive use of technologies and Internet, especially for vulnerable groups of the population such as youth and adolescents. This has led to the search for diagnostic instruments, where self-awareness scales have gained ground. This article sought to validate and adapt the social media addiction scale designed by Sahin to the Mexican context. The resulting instrument is a useful tool given the inexistence of its kind in the Mexican literature to gather information as regards the level of the people’s addiction to online social media.

Se presentan los resultados de la metodologia del panel de expertos, realizado en 2016, a cinco organizaciones. Los resultados apuntan a que estas: 1) han sido permeables a la perspectiva participativa de este enfoque; 2) se encuentran con barreras externas e internas para su implementacion; y 3) dialogan con redes locales y globales de cooperacion y solidaridad. Las conclusiones muestran el caracter subsidiario en la introduccion de este enfoque en Espana (Mari-Saez, 2013) asumido por otros subcampos limitrofes y, a la vez, diferentes a esta perspectiva, como la Educacion para el desarrollo; perfilan las estrategias para superar las barreras; y se detecta que la participacion en redes actua como fuente de experiencias y estrategias de esta perspectiva. espanolEl poder suave tiene un lugar preponderante dentro de las relaciones internacionales. El poder suele entenderse desde una logica relacional. El poder suave presenta dos problemas: la conversion y su medicion intra-Estatal. El objetivo es analizar la relacion entre poder suave y la actividad paradiplomatica de los municipios. La metodologia parte de una contrastacion entre nuestro entendimiento del poder suave municipal con el entendimiento desarrollado por Joseph Nye. Ciertas condiciones socioeconomicas y geograficas pueden aumentar el poder de un gobierno subnacional de actuar, con o independientemente de otros actores. Los resultados sugieren que Guanajuato Capital goza de un stock cultural y educativo/cientifico significativo, fundamento de su poder suave potencial. Se concluye que la actividad paradiplomatica anclada en un stock significativo de poder suave permite una cooperacion horizontal entre gobiernos subnacionales. La ventaja es que la cooperacion puede ser no rivalizable y sin necesidad de ejercer poder sobre otro actor. EnglishSoft power has a prominent role in international relations. Power is usually understood from a relational logic. Soft power presents two problems: its conversion and its measurement at the national level. he goal is to analyze the relation between soft power and the para-diplomatic activity of municipalities. The methodolog y is based on the confrontation between our understanding of municipal soft power with the understanding developed by Joseph Nye. Certain socioeconomic and geographic conditions may increase the power of subnational governments to act, with or independently from other actors. Results suggest that Guanajuato Capital holds a significant cultural and educational/scientific stock, a foundation for its potential soft power. It is concluded that para-diplomatic activity, anchored in a significant soft power stock, strengthens the possibilities for the conduction of horizontal cooperation between subnational governments. The advantage is that cooperation is not rivalry-prone nor does it need to exercise power over other actors.

Soft power presents two problems: its conversion and its measurement at the national level. he goal is to analyze the relation between soft power and the para-diplomatic activity of municipalities. Se presentan los resultados de una investigación sobre la experiencia social que construyen los trabajadores de las tiendas por departamentos del sector del retail en Chile; un sector económico que ha experimentado en América Latina un profundo proceso de modernización y reestructuración productiva desde 1990. Se empleó la perspectiva teórica de la Sociología de la Experiencia de François Dubet. Se utilizó una metodología de naturaleza cualitativa que consideró 31 entrevistas a trabajadores de las tiendas, y seis entrevistas a informantes claves, analizadas mediante los procedimientos de codificación de la teoría fundamentada. Los resultados describen las lógicas de acción (integración, estrategia y subjetivación) que despliegan los trabajadores en las tiendas y las modalidades específicas en que se articulan para dar lugar a tres figuras de la experiencia laboral: comprometida, bloqueada y en tránsito. Se concluye discutiendo el aporte empírico y conceptual del estudio al campo de los estudios laborales en Latinoamérica.

It starts with a literature review on peace research proposals that highlight the Philosophy for Peace and the capacities of individuals and communities to reconcile in plural and diverse ways. Afterwards, the article discusses the institutional architecture of the Transitional Justice System, with emphasis on the Truth Commission. Finally, the text shows three qualitative research examples of auto-ethnography, semi-structured interview and focus groups about the photography exhibition The Witness (El Testigo) by Jesus Abad Colorado, the documentary films of Daniela Abad Lombana and the Association More Art More Peace (Mas Arte Mas Paz). The research results serve to draw key findings regarding the pedagogies for reconciliation in the Colombian post-accord context.
