This article is concerned with a generative approach to supervised classification of spatio-temporal data collected at fixed areal units and modeled by Gaussian Markov random field. We focused on the classifiers based on Bayes discriminant functions formed by the log-ratio of the class conditional likelihoods. As a novel modeling contribution, we propose to use decision threshold values induced by three popular spatial autocorrelation indexes, i.e., Moran’s I, Geary’s C and Getis–Ord G. The goal of this study is to extend the recent investigations in the context of geostatistical and hidden Markov Gaussian models to one in the context of areal Gaussian Markov models. The classifiers performance measures are chosen to be the average accuracy rate, which shows the percentage of correctly classified test data, balanced accuracy rate specified by the average of sensitivity and specificity and the geometric mean of sensitivity and specificity. The proposed methodology is illustrated using annual death rate data collected by the Institute of Hygiene of the Republic of Lithuania from the 60 unicipalities in the period from 2001 to 2019. Classification model selection procedure is illustrated on three data sets with class labels specified by the threshold to mortality index due to acute cardiovascular event, malignant neoplasms and diseases of the circulatory system. Presented critical comparison among proposed approach classifiers with various spatial autocorrelation indexes (decision threshold values) and classifier based hidden Markov model can aid in the selection of proper classification techniques for the spatio-temporal areal data.

Environmental pollutant continues to pose a great threat to public health, leading to development of chronic diseases. In this study, a nonlinear mathematical model is formulated and analysed to study the effect of genetic risk, environmental pollutant, public health education/awareness on asthma development. Conditions for the existence of the unique positive steady state and permanence of the system are assessed. Using Lyapunov function analysis, the unique positive steady state is locally and globally asymptotically stable. Results reveal that genetic risk, pollutant emission rate, effective exposure rate of population to polluted environment and recurrence rate contribute to asthma prevalence. However, sufficiently effective pollutant reduction strategies, improvement in compliance to public health education/awareness together with human dependent environmental pollutant depletion lead to a marked reduction in disease prevalence.

We consider the quasilinear dynamic equation in a Banach space on unbounded above and below time scales T with rd-continuous, regressive right-hand side.We define the corresponding Green-type map. Using the integral functional technique, we find a new simpler, but at the same time, more general sufficient condition for the existence of a bounded solution on the time scales expressed in terms of integrals of the Green-type map. We construct previously unknown linear scalar differential equation, which does not possess exponentially dichotomy, but for which the integral of the corresponding Green-type map is uniformly bounded. The existence of such example allows, on the one hand, to obtain the new sufficient condition for the existence of bounded solution and, on the other hand, to prove Hyers–Ulam stability for a much broader class of linear dynamic equations even in the classical case.

This paper discusses a class issue of finite-time lag projective synchronization (FTLPS) of delayed fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks (FOQVNNs) with parameter uncertainties, which is solved by a non-decomposition method. Firstly, a new delayed FOQVNNs model with uncertain parameters is designed. Secondly, two types of feedback controller and adaptive controller without sign functions are designed in the quaternion domain. Based on the Lyapunov analysis method, the non-decomposition method is applied to replace the decomposition method that requires complex calculations, combined with some quaternion inequality techniques, to accurately estimate the settling time of FTLPS. Finally, the correctness of the obtained theoretical results is testified by a numerical simulation example.

The current research deals with the exact solutions of the nonlinear partial differential equations having two important difficulties, that is, the coefficient singularities and the stochastic function (white noise). There are four major contributions to contemporary research. One is the mathematical analysis where the explicit a priori estimates for the existence of solutions are constructed by Schauder’s fixed point theorem. Secondly, the control of the solution behavior subject to the singular parameter ϵ when ϵ → 0. Thirdly, the impact of noise that is present in the differential equation has been successfully handled in exact solutions. The final contribution is to simulate the exact solutions and explain the plots.

This paper investigates the global attractive set of neural networks with neutral item. To better deal with the neutral terms, different types of activation functions are considered. Based on matrix measures, inequality techniques, and Lyapunov theory, three new types of Lyapunov functions are designed to find the global attractive set of the system. We give out a simulation example to verify the validity of theory results. The result is very inclusive, whether the system has equilibrium or not. As long as the system is stable, we can find its global attractive set.

General fractional calculus is popular recently. Fractional uncertain differential equations (FUDEs) with general memory effects are proposed in this paper. Firstly, existence and uniqueness theorems of solution for general fractional uncertain differential equations (GFUDEs) is presented, and the analytic solution of a linear one is given. Then the concept of α-path is introduced, and relationship between solution of GFUDE and corresponding α-path is also discussed. In addition, a theorem is proved to obtain the expected value of a monotonic function related to solutions of GFUDEs. Finally, a numerical example is given to better understand the significance of general memory effects. This paper provides more types of FUDEs to better describe some phenomena in uncertain environments.

In this paper, based on Euler–Marryama method and theory of stochastic processes, a stochastic discrete SIVS epidemic model with general nonlinear incidence and vaccination is proposed by adding random perturbation and then discretizing the corresponding stochastic differential equation model. Firstly, the basic properties of continuous and discrete deterministic SIVS epidemic models are obtained. Then a criterion on the asymptotic mean-square stability of zero solution for a general linear stochastic difference system is established. As the applications of this criterion, the sufficient conditions on the stability in probability of the disease-free and endemic equilibria for the stochastic discrete SIVS epidemic model are obtained. The numerical simulations are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions for a semipositone third-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation on time scales. In suitable growth conditions, by considering the properties on time scales and establishing a special cone, some new results on the existence of positive solutions are established when the nonlinearity is semipositone.
