India is well known for its art and culture which makes the country unique. There are several forms of art which have been nurtured and groomed under skilled guidance and has been inherited through generations of family traditions. Hand Block Printing is one such an art, which can be used to make every design and every piece of fabric exclusive from the other. Hence block printing is considered to be the most interesting method of designing textiles. Printing is the process of applying colour to fabric or yarn in a definite and repeated pattern. Every design created using hand block printing is very exclusive and different from each other. However, this cannot be achieved by automated printing machines where several meters of fabric can be printed with the same design and colour in a short time.India’s block-printed fabric holds a place of pride in the world market. India is one of the major producers and exporters of block printed fabrics. It is amazing that each region of the country has developed variations in this traditional craft, to name a few, Dabu print of Rajasthan which uses the mud printing technique, Ajrakh print of Gujarat known for geometric motifs and Kalamkari of Andra Pradesh. The various styles of block printing are symbolic of the country’s rich heritage and culture. This article explains the process of block printing and the various styles of block printing methods practiced in India.

The practice of handloom weaving holds significant historical and cultural importance for the Bodo community, serving as an integral aspect of their socio-economic fabric for countless generations. In addition to engaging in agricultural activities, the Bodo community, along with the wider rural and semi-urban population of India, have traditionally pursued handloom weaving as a secondary occupation. The significance of handloom textile and weaving in the lives of the Bodo weavers can be understood via two distinct dimensions. Firstly, at the local level, it serves as a manifestation of local wisdom and tradition deeply ingrained into their cultural practices. Secondly, at the national level, it acts as a tangible representation of the community's distinctive identity. This article attempts to comprehend the importance of weaving within the Bodo community, specifically among women weavers, and examines how their involvement in the handloom sector contributes to the development of cultural identity. Nevertheless, it is crucial to comprehend the viewpoint of the weavers in their commitment to the preservation of the weaving practice, as they assume the role of custodians and guardians of this longstanding heritage.

Cinema is the most significant form of art and the most profound communication tool. Pariyerum Perumal is a thought-provoking Tamil film directed by Mari Selvaraj. This film looks deeply into the persistent caste myths in Indian society, particularly on the suffering of the Dalit group (formerly known as "untouchables"), the story of Pariyan, a young Dalit student who wants to be a lawyer. Pariyan struggles with the harsh reality of prejudice and caste-based discrimination in a rural Indian setting while he pursues his education. In the story, Pariyan is isolated from his upper-caste colleagues in college and experiences violence and humiliation due to the sharp caste-based division pervasive in society. The film Pariyerum Perumal shows underprivileged groups' tenacity and struggle to claim their identity and dignity. Pariyan is adamant about overcoming trials and obstacles to achieve his goals and free himself from caste oppression. The movie fiercely refutes the idea of caste superiority and exposes the sneaky prejudices based on caste, even among those who appear progressive. This article focused on how Pariyerum Perumal portrays the caste-based problems afflicting modern India painfully and realistically. It sparks crucial dialogues on caste prejudice, violence, and the pressing need for societal transformation to destroy the antiquated caste myths that still exclude and oppress millions of people in the nation.
