Textile designing is the most demanding and emerging field as it is full of scope and creativity but many individuals become quite lost when confronted with the task of finding “inspiration” any objects or thing we see in our daily routine are possible design sources. The sources of inspiration play a powerful role in the beginning of the design process and research and strategic collection planning. This study investigated the use of aquatic motifs on home furnishing items using digital printing, exploring their potential for product diversification and consumer acceptance. Fifteen captivating designs featuring aquatic themes were created for bed sheets, table covers with mats, and cushion covers using two designing software Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop. A panel of thirty judges including renowned local designers and discerning boutique owners evaluated the developed designs for the selection of two most enthralling designs from each category for application on textiles in order to prepare home furnishing articles. Their enthusiastic response highlights the positive reception of the aquatic motifs. It concludes that use of aquatic motifs on home furnishing items using digital printing has paved the way for wide new world of product diversification in the home furnishing market.

The pictorial Gond style of artwork has its roots in the tribal Gond art tradition adopted for narrativising fiction Bhimayana: Experiences of Untouchability (2012), life writings of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The Pradhan Gond artists Subhash Vyam and Durgabai Vyam interweave historical events with contemporary incidents using the Digna pattern of the Gond style visualising the stories with immense nuances and dynamics. The novel Bhimayana adopted Gond art to visualise and narrate the life of Ambedkar in a new way of seeing and corresponding to post-millennial trends in visual culture and comical creativity. This graphic novel Bhimayana is named after the hero for the comic version of the graphic narrative, sorrowful and miserable accounts of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The tribal Gond art and paintings had been contextualised in this fiction for interweaving the plot by bringing back story telling, symbolism, animal imageries, colours, patterns, figurative elements, and sequence of images etc. to constitute the novel, a narrative of comic and graphic strips. This paper will emphasise how this graphic novel Bhimayana juxtaposes past, present and future spatially on the page, linearly emphasising personal and historical modes while positioning itself on the high-brow of the literary canon of life narrative and Indian comics.

In every individual, there exists a rich interplay of strengths and weaknesses, a truth that extends to specially-abled individuals as well. As a society, our role becomes pivotal in championing the strengths of these individuals rather than fixating on their limitations. Embracing them as equals, not objects of sympathy, and affording them equal opportunities are foundational steps. Engaging with them in a manner that fosters a sense of belonging and offering avenues of empowerment are essential elements to enable their pursuit of fulfilling lives. The present study aims to determine the need for skill training for specially-abled youth and to assess their quality of life. This study was conducted at Rambhadracharya Divyang University, Chitrakoot. A total of 150 specially-abled youth were selected and a systematic survey and experimental method was adopted to collect the information regarding respondent's personal profile, disabilities, problems, and present needs. A questionnaire was prepared in the form of Google Form. The survey covered various aspects of textiles and apparel designing-related skills, including fabric identification, cutting, sewing, embroidery, printing, and embellishment techniques, comparing the respondents' current skills with the desired ones for the skill training. The study revealed that the quality of life of specially-abled individuals is influenced by factors like family dynamics, living conditions, family occupation, social skills, education, and personal potential. The disparity between current and required skills highlighted the necessity for professional development, aiming to enhance the overall quality of life. To address these needs effectively and sustainably, the study proposed an individual- and ecosystem-cantered approach.

This research paper attempts to explore the notions of knowledge and power in the traditions of doudini (priestess) of the Bodo tribe of Assam, North-East India. The present paper tries to argue that although a doudini possesses traditional knowledge and supernatural power, she is deprived of the rights to equality and freedom. The doudini through her ritualistic dance performance plays the role of a mediator between the people and the Gods. The raw blood of the sacrificial animals is consumed by her in the Kherai festival, an important ritual of the Bathou religion. She is then charmed by the chants of the priest and falls into a trance and transforms into a spiritual being. The community addresses her as nasoni (dancer) and some as doudini(spirit), depending on the status attributed to her in the particular society. The doudini plays many parts which are presented in a series to the same audience. Though the ritual is performed both by female priest and male priest, their role differs as doudini has to accomplish more performances compared to male priest. The doudini does not have freedom to act on her own as she performs, based on the rules set by the system. The doudini does not enjoy freedom throughout the entire process of the ritual as she is bound to perform every act set by the system. The present study has made a critical analysis on the role of doudini, discriminated on the ground of gender and questions her status based on the social system.

Gamification has emerged as a transformative approach, infusing elements of game design into non-game contexts to engage and inspire individuals. This paper explores the artistry behind gamification, focusing on rewarding systems, badge systems, narrative storytelling, teamwork integration, and its application in various domains like education, behavioral change, awareness, and community building. The mastery of gamification's rewarding system design is crucial for fostering engagement and inspiring users to adopt desirable behaviors. Understanding audience preferences and motivations, setting clear objectives, and providing timely feedback are fundamental principles in crafting effective rewarding systems. Similarly, badge systems play a pivotal role in recognizing achievements and motivating users. Symbolic design, clear standards, customization, feedback mechanisms, iteration, and releasing new badges contribute to a vibrant badge ecosystem. Narrative storytelling is identified as a key component of gamification, enhancing engagement, motivation, and learning. By developing compelling narratives, creating likable characters, defining clear goals, establishing milestones, incorporating decision points, evoking emotions, and ensuring originality, gamified experiences can become memorable and motivating journeys. Furthermore, the integration of teamwork into gamification promotes cooperation, competitiveness, and community among players. Defined team objectives, balanced team structures, assigned responsibilities, progress monitoring, and team-oriented challenges foster collaboration and camaraderie. The paper also discusses the role of gamification in various contexts, including education, behavioral change, awareness, and community building. Through interactive art installations, gamified experiences, and collaborative projects, gamification serves as a catalyst for societal mind shifts, spreading awareness, promoting behavioral change, and fostering community cohesion. In conclusion, the gamification of art enhances interactivity, raises awareness, influences behavioral change, and strengthens communities. By embracing gamification strategies, individuals and organizations can harness the power of play to inspire positive outcomes and societal transformations across diverse domains.

Indian cinema is a term that refers to films made in India since time immemorial and has greatly influenced world cinema. Indian Cinema includes various regional languages and among them is Tamil cinema that produces films in the Tamil language with a very wide audience. It showcases varied and interesting patterns of visual culture. Film posters play a vital role in exhibiting these visual cultures and serve as the essence of a film’s soul. Film posters have a deep-rooted relationship with Indian cinema and one of the important parts of these posters is the title design. Title designs are synonymous with the story of the film with a view to create a visual force. The title designs have a modern facelift in the digital era. The use of new graphic techniques, expressive typography, composition, and color creates a lasting impact particularly in new age film title designs. The current research aims to examine the title designs in Kollywood film posters using a semiotics approach. Analysis is done based on the following aspects such as structural parameters, relationship with the theme of the film, context of use and production techniques.

The film has a strong relationship with language as both are means of communication. Film’s affinity to language is also because both carry ideas in the form of signs. When language uses graphic and phonemic signs for signification, films use visual signs. From a poststructuralist perspective, the signs in a visual narrative make multiple readings possible as in written and spoken language, and make film a visual art that gives its viewers an aesthetic experience. The transition of film from the silent era to the digital age as a result of the revolutionary developments in cinematographic techniques has increased the possibilities for multiple interpretations. This paper attempts a semiotic analysis of the Academy Award-winning film Parasite by applying the concepts of theorists like Christian Metz and Roland Barthes. The paper begins with the major arguments put forth by Christian Metz regarding the sign and its application in film and proceeds to explain the five codes in semiotics proposed by Roland Barthes. The paper concludes with the application of these concepts in analyzing the visual signifiers in the film Parasite to justify that semiotics have educated the audience in analyzing film to explore its connotative meanings.
