This article is dedicated to analyzing the latest novel of the well-known contemporary Turkish writer Zulfu Livaneli, "On the Back of the Tiger: Tyranny and Freedom" (2022), according to the author's reception of the belletristic paradigm. The article demonstrates how historical events related to the life of one of the last Turkish sultans, Abdulhamid II (deposition from power and exile in Thessaloniki), are incorporated into the narrative scope of the novel and how these events influence the country's life. It is argued that the figure of Abdulhamid is more vividly portrayed through the image of his opponent-doctor, another central character in the novel. The research aim is to establish that this novel, in terms of its poetic features, belongs to the historical-biographical genre. The article analyzes the plot and compositional features of the novel with an emphasis on its imagery (central images) and chronotope. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the novelistic work of Z. Livaneli, viewed from this aspect, is for the first time the subject of analytical study in domestic Turkological literary studies. As a result, it is demonstrated that the poetics of Z. Livaneli's novel fits within the historical-biographical genre with specific features unique to the author.

The aim of the study is to identify the features of critical understanding of F. Sologub’s prose works in China, as well as the factors influencing their perception. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that by utilizing materials in the Chinese language, the authors characterize the key directions of Sologub’s prose research in China, determine the themes of critical articles and identify the factors that have influenced the critical assessment of his creative work. The paper involves the selection of critical articles by Chinese authors, which allowed for the periodization of the critical understanding of F. Sologub’s creative work. Conventionally, two periods were identified: the period of acquaintance with Sologub’s creative work, characterized by some non-acceptance of the author’s main ideas, particularly the portrayal of the theme of death; and the period of the “Return” of the writer’s prose, coinciding with a similar period in Russia, when the writer’s creative work is interpreted in its entirety, encompassing its thematic and conceptual diversity. As a result, it was found that the perception of Sologub’s prose works is associated with the dynamic nature of the comprehension of literary works. The paper emphasizes the Chinese specifics of the perception of F. Sologub’s creative work, which is based on the philosophical, cultural tradition of the country, as well as on social and political phenomena.

The aim of the research is to detect typological similarities in the works of V. A. Zhukovsky and G. G. Byron at the level of the images of the main characters, as well as the spatial-temporal organization of the text, with particular attention to the category of “liberation”. The research material includes lyrical works “The Prisoner to the Butterfly That Flew into His Dungeon” (1813) and “The Prisoner of Chillon” (1816). Comparative studies have already noted the contact links and typological similarities between the creative works of V. A. Zhukovsky and G. G. Byron, but a comparative analysis to identify and study parallels on different levels of the text has not been conducted yet, and this in turn determines the research novelty of the present study. For the first time, an analysis of the texts is presented at the level of characters, themes (prison, prisoner, impossibility of liberation), and spatial-temporal characteristics. The article thoroughly examines the interaction of the two lyrical works at the plot and imagery levels. The basis for examination comprises common elements of plots and motifs, similarities and differences in the images of central characters. The result of the research is that, despite the authorship of the authors belonging to the same literary movement (Romanticism), not only similarities in the realization of such images and situations are observed, but also significant differences. The comparative categories will include: the image of the hero, space and time, the image of freedom, liberation, prison. The identified connections and similarities indicate a literary contact between the authors and literatures, revealing the specifics of contact relationships and typological similarities in the works of V. A. Zhukovsky and G. G. Byron.

The study aims to establish a typology of linguistic markers enabling the determination of the level of precedent/non-precedent status of proper names through the analysis of verbal units. The paper explores ways in which the addresser signals the precedent status of a proper name in the context of reality terminologically referred to as a “linguistic marker of the precedent status of a proper name”. The features of the linguistic environment of a precedent name in the recipient text are described and analyzed. The content of the “recipient text” concept is defined within the scientific paradigm of the theory of precedent phenomena (specifically, the precedent name), noting its indirect and direct relationship with the concept of a “source text” in a specific linguistic situation. The study is novel in that it is the first to describe a system of linguistic markers of the precedent status of proper names. A technology for determining the status of a precedent name through a comprehensive analysis of the contextual meaning of the proper name in the recipient text is presented. As a result, the study identifies and characterizes in detail the types of linguistic markers of the precedent status of proper names employed by the addresser as units to signal the precedent, connotative usage of proper names in context.

The purpose of the study is to identify the content and methods of explication of the macro-concept LIGHT in the novel “The Boy and the Darkness” by S. V. Lukyanenko, interpreted as one of three macro-concepts (LIGHT :: DUSK :: DARKNESS), the opposition of which organizes the conceptual sphere of the novel, modifying the opposition of the basic concepts HOME WORLD :: ALIEN WORLD. The scientific novelty of the research consists in identifying the essence of the author’s modification of the symbolic macro-concept LIGHT recurrent in his creative heritage, the macro-concept significant for the Russian national worldview, by means of cognitive-discursive analysis. It has been determined that the macro-concept LIGHT, conceptualized as an object and subject of action, container and content, is explicated discursively at the levels of the plot, images of characters, self-reflection of the protagonist, supplemented by new cognitive features. As a result of the study, it has been established that the content of the conceptual core of the macro-concept LIGHT, formulated by the author, contradicts its perceptual-sensory and symbolic content. Such a contradiction, forming the axiological layer of the concept, serves as the driving force for the maturation of the protagonist, who proceeds from instinctive acceptance to the conscious choice of Light.

The aim of the presented study is to define the specifics of applying constructive principles and techniques of language game in modeling mental spaces in children's literature works. The research novelty lies in identifying the potential of language game in modeling denotative spaces of literary texts for children, particularly in creating occasional onyms and toponyms, modeling children's speech, including through the imitation of unintentional word formation in children's language. Language game is viewed not only as a means of modeling mental spaces but also as a tool to immerse a child into the system of language, introduce them to the laws of artistic texts, engage in linguistic creative activities, provoke children to engage in independent language creation, and linguistic experiments. The obtained results have shown that using language game techniques in creating mental spaces in children's literature serves both as a means of expressing the author's intention and as a method of creatively exploring children's language consciousness and mentality.

This article is dedicated to the study of phraseological units in texts of court decisions in criminal cases within the German legal system. The research objective is to identify legal phraseological units that repeatedly appear in a fixed form in the analyzed legal documents and hold a specialized meaning in terms of professional language. The authors distinguish types of fixed expressions and clichés, organizing them based on their usage in various structural parts of court decisions. The research novelty lies in the first examination of the characteristics of phraseological language tools in the sphere of legal practice based on German court decisions, shedding light on issues related not only to the construction of court decision texts but also to the influence of the content of structural elements on significant text characteristics of legal documents. The analysis revealed a specific set of professionally marked phraseological units regularly present in the examined texts. It was also found that such linguistic clichés act as distinct markers of the compositional organization of court decisions, representing the thematic content of corresponding sections (headings and thematic blocks), predominantly presented either as multi-word terms or as functional verbal constructions and collocations.

The aim of the research is to identify intertextual methods of artistic cognition in the lyrics of the British poetess R. Fainlight. The research novelty lies in considering intertextuality as a method of artistic cognition. The author defines the traditional themes of British postmodern poetry, such as reinterpreting archetypes, contemporary life, political, social, and moral issues, personal experiences, while also revealing the specific characteristics of the creative thinking of poets in the postmodern era: intertextuality, non-linearity, incompleteness, fragmentariness, and interaction with the reader. In addition, the following intertextual methods of artistic cognition, as observed in the poetic cycle “Sybils”, are established. The augmented allusion is based on cultural-historical precedents that acquire new characteristics, whereas the allusive flow includes numerous references to other sources, and the double allusion juxtaposes different intertextual planes. R. Fainlight’s intertextual metaphors are typically complemented by double allusions. Moreover, falsification of the intertext is represented by fabricated quotations. As a result, the intertextuality of R. Fainlight’s poetry is defined as a distinct cognitive practice of the postmodern era.

The aim of the research is to define the distinctiveness of the initiation graphic novel in contemporary literature. The article explores the representation of the initiation ritual in the artistic text while considering the genre synthetism features of the work, incorporating elements of dystopia and biographical graphic novel. The key points of the composition of the novel "Orwell" by P. Kristen and S. Verdie are highlighted, and the evolution of the protagonist's inner world, main characters, and symbols in the work are analyzed. The research novelty lies in the in-depth analysis of the genre synthesis of the graphic novel and initiation novel, an endeavor not previously undertaken in either domestic or foreign contemporary literary studies. The investigation contributes a certain theoretical insight: it proves the tendency towards the crossing of genre types in the texts of 21st-century authors, using the graphic novel as a prime example – an incredibly relevant genre today. Furthermore, the conducted analysis reveals the specifics of representing human maturation in contemporary literature and identifies the initiation ritual as an integral part of fictionalized biography. The research demonstrates that in the graphic novel "Orwell" by P. Kristen and S. The article explores the representation of the initiation ritual in the artistic text while considering the genre synthetism features of the work, incorporating elements of dystopia and biographical graphic novel. The key points of the composition of the novel \"Orwell\" by P. The research demonstrates that in the graphic novel \"Orwell\" by P. Kristen and S. Verdie, the narrative of initiation plays a crucial role, serving as the foundation of the work, with its tripartite structure and genre-defining characteristics.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology.
