Organizations face a constant challenge to increase or at least maintain their income each year through the volume of their sales,. For this reason, companies are constantly looking for different ways of meeting this challenge. Within this search process, we find the Innovation, and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) that try to improve the efficiency and efficacy of companies in this undertaking, all within a complex and constantly changing economic environment. Consequently, the present article analyzes whether innovation and ICT support the increase of income through sales, taking into account SME managers’ perceptions of the environment. The article analyzes literature on the subject and surveys 250 SMEs from the Spanish region of Extremadura. The main contribution of the study is that innovation and ICT have a positive impact on increasing of sales of SMEs, and therefore companies should include it as a fundamental part of their structure.

En este articulo se presenta parte de una investigacion de caracter cualitativo que se ha llevado a cabo sobre una amplia muestra de microemprendedores en el estado mexicano de Yucatan, los cuales, motivados por el consumo de productos saludables y de caracter organico en el campo de la agroecologia, se han iniciado en sus negocios, basados, principalmente, en la produccion y comercializacion de este tipo de productos de origen ganadero o agricola, pero, fundamentalmente, este ultimo. En concreto, se quiere exponer, mas detalladamente, la opinion que tienen estos micro-emprendedores agroecologicos sobre los productores de su entorno, es decir, sobre la competencia en el mercado yucateco, indagando sobre la existencia o no de redes sociales e interaccion social entre los emprendedores para el desarrollo de sus empresas en el sector de los productos ecologicos, asi como mercados o ferias; la investigacion tambien esta centrada en indagar sobre las formas de cooperacion que existen entre unos y otros.

Frente al fenomeno de la globalizacion y a los evidentes estragos causados al medio ambiente y a las economias locales por las acciones depredadoras de las grandes corporaciones, han surgido en las ultimas decadas iniciativas en diferentes paises que se presentan como una alternativa al paradigma predominante, basado en el modelo neoliberal, y que buscan impulsar el desarrollo desde un enfoque territorial mediante la recuperacion de los espacios de intercambio economico por los actores locales, como estrategia para contribuir a la regeneracion del tejido social. Aun cuando existen diversos tipos de emprendimientos locales, en Yucatan, y dentro de una corriente de consumo conocida como slow food, desde el ano 2008 se ha desarrollado un movimiento que agrupa a emprendedores locales que ofrecen de manera directa productos naturales a los que han incorporado, si bien en grados diferenciados, la vision de la sustentabilidad, es decir, productos agroecologicos. Estas iniciativas no pretenden competir en los grandes circuitos productivos sino que han encontrado un nicho de mercado, representado por un tipo de consumidores con un perfil diferente de los consumidores tradicionales, y que se inscriben dentro de la corriente del denominado «consumo responsable». Dentro de este contexto, resulta pertinente indagar acerca de las iniciativas emprendedoras de los productores que participan en el movimiento slow food en Yucatan, con el fin de tener un primer acercamiento a las caracteristicas que distinguen este tipo particular de emprendimientos. This article deals with the problems of administrative management and its relation to instrumental rationality in organizations, especially companies. Based on the criticism of rationality as an ideal type, it is observed that the existence of diverse interpretations of rational behavior in productive organizations, both in the administration of things and of people, should be a paradigm of the capitalist system. From different points of view, taking into account the internal and external factors, an explanation is usually given that justifies rational action in the pursuit of objectives and changing actions. It is an attempt to approach the different orders that are promoted in the wake of changes and intellectual “fashions” by trying to satisfy scientific curiosity on epistemological issues related to the orientations that condition organizations within the dominant socioeconomic system.

The deregulation and precariousness of the labor market has led to an increase in the risks and psychosocial diseases in Europe in general, and in Spain in particular. In this context, the objective of this research is to evaluate the impact of specialized union representation (prevention delegates) on the implementation of measures to prevent psychosocial risks in companies. To this end, we used the Second European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER 2 Spain 2014). We compared the indicators of psychosocial risk management with the presence or absence of prevention delegates in companies. We estimate the odds ratio through binary logistic regressions adjusted by sociodemographic variables. The results obtained show that in work centers that have prevention delegates, evaluations of psychosocial risks are carried out with greater frequency, both in relational and organizational aspects. Also the presence of prevention delegates is positively related to the establishment of plans and procedures to avoid work-related stress, as well as threats, insults or aggression. Likewise, it promotes training and advice for workers regarding such risks, and encourages the existence of mechanisms to resolve conflicts. Despite finding empirical evidence that prevention delegates have a positive impact, different contextual, legal and institutional factors have been identified that undermine union power resources (structural, associative, institutional and social) and weaken this correlation.

Este trabajo analiza el concepto de competencia intercultural entendida como una competencia profesional para trabajar de manera efectiva en entornos multiculturales, cada vez mas comunes en el mundo globalizado. Se trata de una revision de las distintas maneras de identificacion y evaluacion de la competencia intercultural, asi como de los diversos modelos e instrumentos de medida que sirven para evaluar la competencia intercultural. A traves de este estudio se muestra que, a pesar de la importancia de estas habilidades, existen dificultades por parte de las organizaciones a la hora identificar y formar este tipo de competencias. Esto se debe principalmente a dos razones. Por una parte, una minimizacion de las diferencias culturales que conduce a la falsa creencia de que debido a la globalizacion estamos abocados a una homogeneizacion cultural. Por otra parte, la falta de un denominador comun a la hora definir la competencia intercultural y de entender su aplicacion en entornos profesionales que, a su vez, provoca un desconocimiento de los beneficios profesionales que esta competencia supone para el exito empresarial.

The Queretana mountain range in central Mexico includes two municipalities: Amealco de Bonfil and Huimilpan. In both, migration to the United States is a frequent phenomenon that has gradually modified the way families are organized. The analysis of migration takes into account the family group and the changes in the gender-generic division of labor and the economic and cultural effects that it entails. The article exposes the living conditions of groups in transnational families, particularly women and non-migrant relatives; the development of enterprises and family businesses as possible alternatives to the use of remittances. The research sought to determine the survival strategies of transnational families in relation to aspects of care, commitment and reciprocity. The methodology is qualitative, hermeneutical and phenomenological. A documentary review was included and semi- structured interviews were conducted. As techniques for triangulation, interview results were contrasted and non-participant observation was used. The fieldwork was carried out during the summers of 2018 and 2019. 17 interviews were conducted with members of transnational families and 5 with officials from the municipalities studied, the national employment office and a civil organization supporting migrants. Among the main results is that women, who do not migrate, face new economic conditions that involve them breaking with traditional gender schemes, although the subjective construction of a new gender role is gradual. Many women who do not migrate fail to break the roles assigned in the private sphere because the new living conditions they face do not separate them from their gender status in the family. However, at the same time, they face responsibilities as heads of their families. They are perceived as carrying out a double working day which nevertheless does not bring them into conflict with members of the extended family. The ventures carried out involve business network strategies that are possible thanks to extended families and links between migrants. Their success or failure is perceived not only as a consequence of the market but also in relation to the possibility of sending remittances.

The methodology is qualitative, hermeneutical and phenomenological. A documentary review was included and semi- structured interviews were conducted. As techniques for triangulation, interview results were contrasted and non-participant observation was used. The fieldwork was carried out during the summers of 2018 and 2019. 17 interviews were conducted with members of transnational families and 5 with officials from the municipalities studied, the national employment office and a civil organization supporting migrants. Among the main results is that women, who do not migrate, face new economic conditions that involve them breaking with traditional gender schemes, although the subjective construction of a new gender role is gradual. Many women who do not migrate fail to break the roles assigned in the private sphere because the new living conditions they face do not separate them from their gender status in the family. However, at the same time, they face responsibilities as heads of their families. They are perceived as carrying out a double working day which nevertheless does not bring them into conflict with members of the extended family. The ventures carried out involve business network strategies that are possible thanks to extended families and links between migrants. The aim of this research is to study the management of sustainability policies in the University of Extremadura and to identify the most important factors in developing the environmental awareness of students of business, finance, economics and tourism. Three factors have been analyzed within the framework of sustainability policies in the academic field: teacher training, environmental awareness activities and transversal environmental competences. The methodology used was the Structural Equation Model of the SmartPls-3 software package. The sample consisted of 420 students belonging to the Faculties of Economics, Business, Finance and Tourism of the Universidad de Extremadura. The survey found that selected constructs influenced the main objective of the University’s sustainability policies, which is to increase environmental awareness among its students. The study particularly highlights the importance of the transversal competence, which seeks to promote environmental protection among future entrepreneurs in Spain.
