The current article reviews the issue of idiomaticity and the role it plays in communication. The paper presents the survey of English media idiomatic terms and their Lithuanian equivalents. The mass media like newspapers, radio and television have a significant impact on the lives and behaviour of communities as well as individuals, and to avoid any linguistic failures a person should have sufficient knowledge of idiomatic media terms. The analyzed terms were classified into four groups according to their meaning. The key problem encountered was that certain English idiomatic media terms lacked Lithuanian translation equivalents, thus, whenever possible, translation recommendations were given.

Tarptautinių ir Lietuvos dokumentų, žymincių svietimo kaitos gaires, analizė leidžia teigti, kad nuolatinis mokymasis yra būtinas svietimo komponentas, užtikrinantis kiekvienam visuomenės nariui profesine kvalifikaciją, atitinkancią siuolaikinių sparciai besivystancių technologijų lygį. Europai įžengus į Žinių visuomene, pakito ir farmacijos specialistų veiklos erdvės – jie prisiėmė ugdytojo vaidmenį, kurį galima atlikti tik nuolatos mokantis, tobulinant savo profesine kvalifikaciją. Lietuvoje sąlyginai mažai atlikta tyrimų, atskleidžiancių, kokie veiksniai turi įtakos farmacijos specialistų savo, kaip ugdytojo, vaidmens įgyvendinimui. Sio tyrimo rėmuose nuolatinis mokymasis, kaip profesinės vertybės, sąsajos su farmacijos specialisto, kaip ugdytojo, funkcijos realizacija yra analizuojamos konkreciu – motinų ugdymo atveju.

The importance of Common Competence in learning foreign languages is analysed in this article. At first, general competence in learning foreign languages is provided according to “Common Framework of European languages learning, teaching and assessment”. Moreover, the knowledge of the world, sociocultural knowledge and intercultural consciousness as common competence are characterized in the article. This competence particularly helps those who are learning to use cultural manifestation. Sociolinguistics analyses the relations between the language and culture. It is possible to know foreign culture only with the help of a foreign language. When we are learning a foreign language it is necessary to perceive sociocultural, intercultural and multicultural norms of thinking and behaviour of the culture which is connected with that foreign language. It is often performed with the help of social stereotypes. The origin and definition of stereotypes concept is provided in the article alongside with the division of stereotypes into autostereotypes and heterostereotypes, etc. Also, the concepts of misjudgment (falsche Einstellung), negative preconception (Vorurteil) are provided together with positive and negative social experience, which is conceded in stereotypes and the necessity of using them adequately in communication process. This article is based on national stereotypes, their knowledge is named as the condition of intercultural communication.

Straipsnyje autorius kelia hipoteze, kad tikslingas neverbalinės komunikacijos naudojimas yra vienas svarbiausių elementų kūrybinėse industrijose, siekiant efektyviai minimalizuoti (arba pasalinti) žinutės trukdžius. Sios hipotezės pagrįstumas įrodomas pirmiausia glaustai apžvelgiant pagrindinius neverbalikos tyrimus ir gautas isvadas, kurios svariai prisidėjo prie neverbalinės komunikacijos studijų modernaus apibrėžimo ir supratimo. Straipsnyje taip pat parodoma, kaip neverbalikos tyrimų rezultatai gali būti panaudoti siekiant efektyvesnės komunikacijos tarp kūrėjo ir auditorijos ir kaip, neatsižvelgus į keletą neverbalios komunikacijos elementų, galima sukurti žinute, priesingą užsakovo tikslui.

Pradėjus mokytis naujos kalbos, bandant susisnekėti su gimtakalbiu d ė l pasnekovo tarties kartais kelis kartus tenka perklausti ar paprasyti pakartoti žod į . Pirmojo pasnekovo pasitikėjimas savo kalbine kompetencija smunka, dažniausiai mažėja ir motyvacija snekėti naująja užsienio kalba. Si situacija atskleidžia taisyklingos tarties svarbą mokantis užsienio kalbos. Lietuvių ir ispanų kaip užsienio kalbų mokymasis pastaraisiais metais Kaune vis populiarėja: nuo 2009 m. LSMU daugiau kaip ketvirtadalį studentų užsieniecių sudaro jaunimas is Ispanijos, o VDU studentai savo antrąja užsienio kalba is 26 si ū lom ų dažniausiai renkasi ispanų kalbą. Nagrinėjant ispanų ir lietuvių fonetikos panasumus ir skirtumus, siekiama aptarti, palyginti ir nustatyti didžiausius tarties kliuvinius lietuviams mokantis ispanų, o ispanams lietuvių kalbos. Pasirinktas eksperimentinis veidrodžio principas atskleid žia pagrindinius taisyklingos tarties kliuvinius: jei ispanakalbiai daro tarties klaidą lietuvių kalboje, tai toje pat vietoje ir lietuviams kalbant ispaniskai atsiranda tarties kliuvinių. Fonetikos mokymasis – viena svarbiausių komunikacinės kompetencijos dalių, todėl rekomenduojama atkreipti dėmesį į ortoepiją mokantis svetimų kalbų bei pradėti lavinti tarimą nuo pat pirmo negimtosios kalbos studijų lygio, nes teigiami rezultatai gaunami tik po ilgesnio laiko ir nemažai praktikuojantis.

Technology has the capacity to enhance a foreign language learning process of students, but it is not always an easy task to determine how much of a traditional classroom and distance learning should be integrated into the teaching process. The research methodology is based on a small scale qualitative and quantitative analysis among the students attending the English language courses provided by the Centre of Foreign Languages at Vytautas Magnus University.The paper reports on the results of the survey that presents the students’ attitudes on traditional and blended learning of the English language. The paper also deals with the topic that is sometimes ignored in much of the distance education literature: students’ distressing experiences due to communication breakdowns and technical difficulties.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjami lietuvių kalbos veiksmažodžių abstraktų semantiniai modeliai. Veiksmažodžių abstraktų reguliariuosius semantinius pokycius lemia semantinė ir formalioji analizuojamų žodžių grupės raida. Tyrimu nustatyta, kad reguliarioji polisemija yra tam tikra semantinė derivacija, t. y. daugeliu atvejų tos pacios leksemos formos dėsningas perėjimas nuo pagrindinių reiksmių prie salutinių. Taikant komponentinės analizės metodą, nustatytos veiksmažodžių abstraktų semantinės raidos tendencijos. Pavyzdžių analizė atskleidė vienų semantinių modelių produktyvumą kitų atžvilgiu. Reguliariųjų modelių produktyvumą sąlygoja formalioji leksemos struktūra. Įvairiuose kalbos stiliuose semantinės derivacijos reiskiniai ne visuomet atitinka kalbos norminimo kriterijus.

Sowohl das Deutsche als auch das Litauische wandeln sich auf der gegenwartigen Entwicklungsstufe schneller wie fruher. Als Ursachen fur die Modifikationen im Wortschatz und im Sprachbau kann man veranderte historische, kulturelle und kommunikationstechnische Bedingungen, Globalisierungs- und Internationalisierungstendenzen, den Einfluss des Englischen sowie die Verwendung der Sprache in neuen Medien nennen. Durch ihre Verwendung im Internet kommen Sprachen zu einer neuen Form, bestimmte Sprachmuster werden besonders aktiv. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden zwei Wortbildungsmuster, die in der deutschen Mediensprache der Gegenwart sehr zahlreich vertreten sind, behandelt, und zwar Bindestrichkomposita von Typ XL-Welle , Roggen-Vollkornbrot, das Von-der-Hand-in-den-Mund-Leben etc. und die Konfixkomposita von Typ Bio-Apfel, Bio-Baby-Lebensmittel, Euro-Burokraten etc. Einige Gebrauchstendenzen von solchen neuartigen Komposita werden vorgestellt und unter interkulturellem Aspekt mit den neuen Erscheinungen in der litauischen Mediensprache verglichen. On New Compounds in German and Lithuanian Languages In the present article, the usage patterns of compound neologisms and occasional compounds in German and Lithuanian media languages of the press and new medium are analysed and compared in terms of intercultural aspects. In the current development stage, German and Lithuanian languages undergo rapid changes, acquire new forms and are constantly affected by other languages. Furthermore, they experience processes of globalization and internationalization. The discourse of the press and new medium is the most instant reflection of political, economical, social and cultural changes in public life. It is rich with neologisms and occasional compounds. As written language on the Internet resembles spoken language, these language varieties are said to demonstrate characteristics of a spoken language. Bindestrichkomposita - hyphenated occasional compound nouns - are widely used in German Internet language. The article overviews common structural models of such compounds and provides a lot of examples of their usage. Such compounds in Lithuanian language are not so common in comparison to German; however, their rapid spread and derivation is also apparent in Lithuanian press and electronic discourse. This reflects flexibility and creative potential of a language. In recent decades in German language, there has been an active use of compounds which have foreign word components, often deriving from Greek and Latin languages. Similarly, in Lithuanian language, an increasing number of compounds with foreign word components can be identified. The study compares the use of these compounds in German and Lithuanian languages by highlighting similarities and differences.

Als Ursachen fur die Modifikationen im Wortschatz und im Sprachbau kann man veranderte historische, kulturelle und kommunikationstechnische Bedingungen, Globalisierungs- und Internationalisierungstendenzen, den Einfluss des Englischen sowie die Verwendung der Sprache in neuen Medien nennen. Durch ihre Verwendung im Internet kommen Sprachen zu einer neuen Form, bestimmte Sprachmuster werden besonders aktiv. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden zwei Wortbildungsmuster, die in der deutschen Mediensprache der Gegenwart sehr zahlreich vertreten sind, behandelt, und zwar Bindestrichkomposita von Typ XL-Welle , Roggen-Vollkornbrot, das Von-der-Hand-in-den-Mund-Leben etc. und die Konfixkomposita von Typ Bio-Apfel, Bio-Baby-Lebensmittel, Euro-Burokraten etc. Einige Gebrauchstendenzen von solchen neuartigen Komposita werden vorgestellt und unter interkulturellem Aspekt mit den neuen Erscheinungen in der litauischen Mediensprache verglichen. On New Compounds in German and Lithuanian Languages In the present article, the usage patterns of compound neologisms and occasional compounds in German and Lithuanian media languages of the press and new medium are analysed and compared in terms of intercultural aspects. In the current development stage, German and Lithuanian languages undergo rapid changes, acquire new forms and are constantly affected by other languages. Furthermore, they experience processes of globalization and internationalization. The discourse of the press and new medium is the most instant reflection of political, economical, social and cultural changes in public life. It is rich with neologisms and occasional compounds. As written language on the Internet resembles spoken language, these language varieties are said to demonstrate characteristics of a spoken language. Bindestrichkomposita - hyphenated occasional compound nouns - are widely used in German Internet language. The article overviews common structural models of such compounds and provides a lot of examples of their usage. Such compounds in Lithuanian language are not so common in comparison to German; however, their rapid spread and derivation is also apparent in Lithuanian press and electronic discourse. This reflects flexibility and creative potential of a language. In recent decades in German language, there has been an active use of compounds which have foreign word components, often deriving from Greek and Latin languages. Similarly, in Lithuanian language, an increasing number of compounds with foreign word components can be identified. The concept of “e-learning” is ambivalent. On the one hand, it is used to describe the “distant learning”, on the other hand, it refers to “blended learning”. This article focuses on classic “blended learning”, which means combination of face-to-face instruction with online activities. The study examines students’ attitudes to integrating online activities into the traditional English language classroom. The respondents are the University students of three different specializations who study English for Specific Purposes. The frequencies of positive and negative responses to a specially designed questionnaire are analyzed. Not all the students enjoy e-learning in spite of its advantages, which might be expressed due to individual likes and dislikes. Statistical treatment of the students’ responses by means of Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) includes the computations of correlation coefficients, which indicate the strength of relationships, and their statistical significance.
