Rust classification using image analysis of steel structures 基于图像分析的钢结构锈蚀分类

The purpose of this paper is to classify the rust conditions of steel structures by using image analysis. For classification purposes, support vector machine (SVM) was utilized. The purpose of our research is to provide additional information on rust conditions for reconfirmation use, prevent errors during rust evaluations, and to create a robust and practical rust evaluation system. For our methodology, we took photographs of steel structures using a digital camera and divided those images into smaller regions in order to calculate the evaluation parameters. The parameters themselves were determined by using a rust recognition process. We then used the classification results provided by evaluation experts and the parameters as SVM input vectors in order to classify rust conditions. As a result of our efforts, we developed an evaluation system with a correct classification rate of 99% for learning sets and a correct classification rate of 66% for test sets. The results we obtained suggest that the creation of a rust evaluation system using this method is possible.

Direct gravity estimation and compensation in strapdown INS applications 捷联惯导系统中的直接重力估计与补偿

This paper proposes a novel algorithm for estimating the changes of gravity and compensating its effects on acceleration measurements in inertial navigation system (INS) based applications. Gravity is a critical factor and its effects are usually included in the measurements obtained from accelerometers. This results in a need to eliminate gravity effects from the measurements in order to accurately determine the true acceleration of a moving object. In the present study, a new method has been proposed to estimate the gravity using the measurements from the existing INS sensors without employing any additional sensors. This significantly reduces the complexity of INS based system design. Two different types of models have been developed based on the proposed gravity compensation method to be used in Gyro-Based and Gyro-Free INS applications. The performance of both these models is illustrated by simulations and experiments. Results of simulations demonstrate that by including the proposed gravity compensation model, the errors in the acceleration measurements reduces significantly.

Vision based robotic person following under lighting variations 基于视觉的机器人人跟随灯光变化

The paper addresses the problem of person following using color and shape identification in indoors and outdoors environments with significant light variations. This is mainly achieved by real-time control of camera parameters affecting the light exposure, i.e. camera gain, shutter speed and iris. Several other new strategies are also proposed to recognize and segment the person from the environment, and to reacquire the person when he is lost during difficult walking maneuvers. In addition to the camera exposure control, the camera pan and tilt, and the robot speed and steering are controlled based on the characteristics of the detected personpsilas image such as mass (area), centroid, and shape characteristics. The system has been implemented on a Segway robotic platform that has been equipped with a camera, an onboard computer, loud speakers, game-pad, etc. A video has been prepared that shows indoors and outdoors trials under a variety of conditions.

Accuracy assessment of sensed biomedical images for myocardial infarction prediction 生物医学图像遥感预测心肌梗死的准确性评价

Myocardial infarction (MI) can be defined from a number of different perspectives related to clinical, electrocardiographic (ECG), biochemical and pathologic characteristics. The term MI also has social and psychological implications, both as an indicator of a major health problem and as a measure of disease prevalence in population statistics and outcomes of clinical trials. In the distant past, a general consensus existed for the clinical entity designated as MI. In studies of disease prevalence by the World Health Organization (WHO), MI was defined by a combination of two of three characteristics: typical symptoms (i.e., chest discomfort), enzyme rise and a typical ECG pattern involving the development of Q waves. Biomedical sensors dedicated to acquire signals from cardiac instrumentation, even if sophisticated, cannot precisely reveal and help doctors to understand, at a glance, pathologies leading towards MI. This paper traces out an integrated algorithm based on a combination of level set evolution and variational approach according to Mumford-Shah model.

Flexible piezoelectric tactile sensor with structural electrodes array for shape recognition system 结构电极阵列柔性压电触觉传感器用于形状识别系统

This study provides an efficient and feasible solution to enhance the sensitivity of traditional piezoelectric tactile sensor based on introducing structural electrode upon the sensing material. A sandwich structure for flexible tactile sensor consists of top and bottom soft substrates made of Polystyrene, and in between of two soft substrates a piezoelectric thin film, PVDF, and a PDMS microstructures array are utilized as sensing material and microstructures, respectively. The experimental results showed the output voltage was linear with contact force from 10N to 0.5 N and good reliability within low frequency range 1 ~ 100 Hz. In addition, the shape recognition also can be achieved as the objective contacted with the 4 by 4 electrodes array. The effects of structural electrode on the enhancement of sensitivity were also numerically simulated by finite element method (FEM) and verified experimentally by dynamic measurement system, respectively. In general, the flexible tactile sensor developed in this study is not only applied for detecting contact force but also for the human physiology monitoring system, such as pulsation, heart rate and blood pressure, etc.

Corrugated micro-diaphragm analysis for low-powered and wireless Bio-MEMS 低功耗无线Bio-MEMS的波纹微膜片分析

Surface acoustic wave (SAW) device based wirelessly operated, batteryless and low-powered microdiaphragm structures have been investigated and presented in this paper. These diaphragms are intended to establish the actuation mechanism for micropumps and similar microfluidic devices. The actuation method of the diaphragm relies on the electrostatic coupling between the diaphragm and the output Inter digital transducer (IDT) of the SAW device. In this paper, the theory governing the SAW device based novel actuation mechanism, is elaborated using the parallel plate approximation in electrostatic actuation. To validate the theoretical model, a finite element model (FEM) is developed using ANSYS simulation tools and presented. Different design methods are considered to enhance the deflection of the diaphragm for a low input voltage. As such, inclusion of corrugations around a flat square-shaped diaphragm and selection of different bio-compatible materials for various sections of the diaphragm are analysed at the simulation level. Deflection of the diaphragm is obtained as a function of the electric potential at the output IDT of the SAW device, and compared with results obtained from published research.

The design of Indirect Measurement Systems based on OE models 基于OE模型的间接测量系统设计

A method to design Indirect Measurement Systems (IMS) based on ouput-error (OE) models is the main issue of this article. The general procedure design is evaluated on non-invasive temperature estimation of an object that is inside of a sterilizer oven. The system performance is evaluated in terms of distributed temperatures sources: (a) actuator temperature source that is controlled by the electric thermal coil, (b) the object temperature source that is inside the oven, (c) the environment temperature source that contributes as perturbation to the oven temperatures. The IMS device is organized for implementation and analysis in terms of block diagrams that are characterized according to theirs influence in the non invasive measurements. The proposed indirect measurement device characterization is discussed in terms of embedded characterization, such as: accuracy, stability and frequency response of the IMS.

Towards high sensitive label free DNA detection in lab-on-chip systems

Surprisingly high sensitivity for DNA fragment detection in contactless conductivity measurements by capacitive coupling of HF signals into microfluidic channels was further investigated by impedance spectroscopy. Experimental results indicate the general high conductivity with reduced capacitive behaviour in parallel. It can be also influenced by an electrical DC field inducing DNA alignment in the electrical measuring cell. The results encourage further development of electrical detection methods alternatively to sophisticated and expensive optical detection methods.

Planar interdigital sensors based looseness estimation of leather 基于平面数字间传感器的皮革松动估计

An interdigital based sensing system to measure looseness in the sheepskin to alter the tanning process to produce better quality leather has been fabricated and developed. The sensor has the planar interdigital structure and the consecutive fingers are connected to positive and negative electrodes respectively. The proximity depth of electric field can be adjusted by varying the distance between two electrodes of opposite polarity. Electric field lines pass through the leather (skin) under test, and the reactive impedance of the sensor depends on the material dielectric properties as well as on the electrode and material geometry, is measured. From the measurement the effective permittivity of the sensor is calculated which is related to the quality of leather. It is possible to predict some information of skin quality during various stages of leather processing, which will be very useful for optimizing the process of leather manufacture to achieve the desired qualities in the finished product.

A new wavelet de-nosing algorithm based on reversible transform 一种基于可逆变换的小波去噪算法

Traditional wavelet shrinkage de-noising methods always produce Pseudo-Gibbs oscillations when sensor signals contain jump discontinuity points. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a wavelet shrinkage de-noising algorithm based on reversible translation. The algorithm can eliminate Pseudo-Gibbs oscillations by removing the discontinuity points. Its rationality is proven theoretically and the most appropriate mother wavelet is Harr wavelet. At the same time, the simulation data and real course signal show that this algorithm can effectively eliminate Pseudo-Gibbs oscillations and improve denoising SNR.
