The glasses samples of Er 3+ doped boro-tellurite, germanium-tellurite, phosphate-tellurite with alternant- changed components have been prepared. The obtained data indicated that introducing the dopants (H3BO3 and NaPO3) into tellurite hosts can not enhance 1.5μm emission efficiency because of higher phonon energy and the lower refractive indexes n and GeO2 owing to lower phonon energy than that of borate and phosphate can enhance 1.5μm emission efficiency when introduced into tellurite hosts. In order to obtain higher 1.5μm emission efficiency the dopants owing to higher the index of refraction is suggested.

the UV-induced plasma fluorescence spectra are obtained by FLS920 Spectrometer. There is a stronger and wider peak from 300nm to 410nm in the plasma fluorescence spectrum. Using soft analysis, it is found that the peak is actually consisted of two Gaussion curves, or two fluorophores, which are albumin and immunoglobulin (Ig). And their rate is about 58% and 37% completed. We are thought that the Albumin fluorescence is most, but the fluorescence information of Ig is more important for medical diagnoses. Abnormity of immune system may change Ig construction, and its spectral characteristics is altered. Therefore, based on UV-induced plasma spectra, Ig spectra can be indirectly studied by mathematical analysis. KeywordsUV-fluorescence, plasma, albumin, immunoglobulin (Ig)

Buffering of a 2.5 Gb/s bit stream with non-return-to- zero format is numerically demonstrated based on stimulated- Brillouin-scattering-induced acoustic storage in an As2Se3 fiber. The storage process and the retrieval process of the bit stream are separately controlled by a "Write" pulse and a "Read" pulse. Simulation results show that output signal-to-noise ratio of 21 dB, 18 dB, 16 dB, and readout efficiency of 71%, 47%, 31% can be achieved after 5-ns, 10-ns, 15-ns storage, respectively. The "Write" and "Read" pulses are chirped Gaussian ones with single pulse energy of ~0.25 J and spectrum-width of ~5 GHz, which are technically achievable. Buffering of a consecutive 10- bit-long 2.5 Gb/s non-return-to-zero bit stream has also been demonstrated in the As2Se3 fiber with length of 0.5 m. This buffering method can be used for all-optical buffering in optical- communication systems.

It is very complex that the infrared radiation's actual transmission process through earth's atmosphere. There is interaction between radiation and atmospheric component. The radiation transmittance will be weakened because of the absorption and the scattering. The atmospheric transmittance is an important parameter to measure the attenuation. This paper summarizes the infrared radiation's transmission process in atmosphere, studies the computation method of atmospheric transmittance, analyzes the absorption attenuation of the atmospheric gas such as steam and carbon dioxide, the scattering attenuation and the attenuation caused by meteorological condition, infers the computation method of the atmospheric equivalent path, and gives the atmospheric transmittance simplified algorithm. Finally this paper gives the atmospheric transmittance computation result under given meteorological condition, also gives the contrast curve with LOWTRAN7.0. The algorithm has certain reference value in the project application. The problem that the infrared radiation transmits in the atmosphere is always paid attention by the designers who deal with the photoelectricity measurement system and the researchers who deal with the radiation transmission in the earth atmosphere. There is more and more attached importance to the research of the atmospheric transmission model. There are many studies relating to the atmospheric transmission characteristic of infrared radiation, such as the object infrared detection, the navigation, the communication, the earth resource distance survey, etc. Generally there are three atmospheric radiation transmission models such as LOWTRAN, MODTRAN and FASCODE. These application softwares are developed by Air Force Geophysics Laboratory of America (AFGL) according to different application purpose. But it is complex to use these softwares by many project personnel. This paper gives a kind of atmospheric transmittance simplified algorithm.

The stiffness of an optical trap is an extremely important parameter in measuring mechanical properties of biological micro-particles or colloids. Few attentions are paid to experimental study of the stiffness v .s. sampling frequency dependence. We studied experimentally how the sampling frequency of a detector influences the measured transversal stiffness of a single beam optical trap. The stiffness of an optical trap was calibrated by detecting the reflected light signal by polystyrene spheres through a quadrant photodiode detector (QPD), and then calculated using the Boltzmann statistics method. In our experiments, polystyrene spheres had been used to conclude that in the directions both parallel (p) and perpendicular (s) to the laser polarization direction, the measured stiff-nesses are different and all varies with the sampling rate of the QPD used in our experiment. For a certain sampling frequency range, the measured stiffness decreases while the sampling frequency increases. Our results provide researchers information for sampling frequency selection in related experiments.

In order to improve the imaging contrast in photoacoustic tomography, the frequency spectrum of photoacoustic signal should be restored by deconvolving the transducer impulse response out of the photoacoustic signal of the tissue phantom. But it is difficult to generate photoacoustic impulse of a temporal delta function in experiment. To solve the problem, a method that the photoacoustic impulse was produced by a point optical absorber was proposed. The relationship between the transducer frequency response to a temporal delta function and a point optical absorber was studied. A LTI wiener filter was used during deconvolution in order to suppress noise adaptively. The photoacoustic image was finally reconstructed by time-domain spherical back projection algorithm. The feasibility of the method was demonstrated both by numerical simulation and experiment.

The use of a surface Plasmon resonance immunosensor for the analysis of ampicillin is described. An immunoassay was developed with a miniature surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor to quantify the ampicillin residues in milk samples. It was a competitive inhibition assay with ampicillin covalently immobilized on the sensor surface. A fixed amount of monoclonal anti-ampicillin antibody was mixed with the sample and then the amount of free antibody was determined using biospecific interaction analysis by injection of the mixture over the ampicillin immobilized sensor surface. The limit of detection of the ampicillin is 2.5ng mL(-1), which is below the maximum residue limits (4ng mL(-1)). The measurement period for one is 10 min. Repeatability of the assay is very good, and the coefficient of variation at 2.5ng mL(-1) is 5.4% in different days.

waveguide laser medium operating at 1.06 μm Guolong Du , Guiqiu Li, Shengzhi Zhao, Jing An, Ming Li, Jian Liang, Tao Li and Wei Wang School of Information Science and Engineering, Shandong University, Jinan 250100, China Abstract: The planar waveguide was formed in an x-cut Nd:YVO4 crystal by 3.0 MeV Si+ ion implantation at a dose of 1×1015 ions/cm2 at room temperature. The effective refractive indices of the waveguide propagation modes were measured by using a prism-coupling method after the annealing at 240°C for 60 min in air. Reflectivity calculation method (RCM) was applied to simulate the refractive index profile of the waveguide. It is found that relatively large positive change of ordinary refractive index happens in the guiding region. According to the reconstructed refractive index distribution, it is demonstrated that the fundamental mode operating at 1.06 μm can be confined in the Si+ ion-implanted Nd:YVO4 waveguide. Meanwhile, the pump threshold of laser oscillation is theoretically estimated.

Using the dispersion management soliton concept and inelastic collision model between an electron and a multi-photon group the extreme value characteristic of the dispersion period lengths in the total internal reflective photonic crystal fiber TIRPCF under multiphoton nonlinear Compton scattering. The result shows that there is a multi-extreme value system between the coupling pulse propagation distance and disturbance period and there is a better propagation passage to every extreme value. When the disturbance period is 0.2 the soliton propagation intensity is weaker and its scattering probability is littler. Along with the increasing of the propagation distance the scattering probability are increased. When the disturbance period is 0.4 the propagation passages of the soliton are thebest.
