ABSTRACTIn this study, we examined the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between insight and altruism and flourishing among mental health professional candidates. We adopted a cross-sectional atemporal design to examine how mental health professional candidates’ insight and altruism affect their flourishing via self-compassion. The model was tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). Four hundred one participants (Male = 76, Female = 324; Mage = 20.5, SD = 1.8) took part in the study via a web-based survey and completed the Psychological Well-Being Scale, Altruism Scale, Self-compassion Scale, and Insight Scale. The study results showed that insight, altruism, and self-compassion were meaningful psychological dynamics supporting flourishing. The results revealed that self-compassion played a mediating role in the effect of insight on flourishing. On the other hand, the results showed that self-compassion did not mediate the effect of altruism on flourishing.KEYWORDS: Flourishinginsightaltruismself-compassionmental health professional candidates Data availability statementThe datasets generated for this study are available on request to the corresponding author.Data availabilityThe author confirms that the data supporting the findings of this study are available within the article [and/or] its supplementary materials.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Ethical approvalThis study was approved by the ethics committee of Anadolu University (register number 232106)Patient consentAll study participants provided informed written consent prior to study enrolment.Permission to reproduce material from other sources: The author gives permission to reproduce material from other sources.Additional informationNotes on contributorsGamze Ülker TümlüGamze Ülker Tümlü has been working as an assistant professor at the Guidance and Counselling Department of Anadolu University in Eskisehir, Turkey. ABSTRACTAlthough the use of telesupervision (technology-assisted supervision) is increasing in line with trends in digital health, this remains to be an under-researched area. This systematic review sought to evaluate the current state of knowledge about counsellors’, psychotherapists’ and psychologists’ perspectives and experiences of receiving clinical supervision online, and to determine specific gaps in the literature. Five themes emerged within the literature review: comparison of telesupervision with in-person supervision; challenges of telesupervision; benefits of telesupervision; components of effective telesupervision and supervisor characteristics. Overall, evidence suggests that supervisory relationship is the key factor in quality and efficacy of supervision, regardless of delivery modality. Recommendations are made for practice, including training both supervisors and supervisees in telesupervision, and future research directions are discussed.KEYWORDS: Clinical supervisionTelesupervisionCounsellingPsychotherapyOnline therapy Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Data availability statementData sharing is not applicable to this article as no new data were created or analysed in this study.Additional informationNotes on contributorsKaren RatcliffeKaren Ratcliffe is a BACP Accredited integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor working in private practice and a university staff counselling service. ABSTRACTThe present paper aimed to develop and standardise a scale for assessing life skills in adults as per a ten-factor model given by World Health Organization (WHO), which was accomplished by revising a pre-existing 100-item life skills scale for adolescents. The objective was met in three consecutive studies. A revised 19-items life skills scale with a three-factor affective-behavioural-cognitive model (LS-ABC scale) was obtained in study 1 conducted on 311 adults. This model was re-verified on a new sample of 336 adults in study 2, which re-affirmed the results of study 1. Construct validity of the LS-ABC scale was established in study 3, where different established questionnaires along with LS-ABC scale were administered to 182 healthy adults and 34 adults with mental health issues. The final LS-ABC scale was found to be psychometrically sound and a reliable measure for assessing life skills in adult population.KEYWORDS: Life skillsadultsscale constructionaffectivebehaviouralcognitive AcknowledgementsThe authors wish to express their gratitude to Dr Lata Dyaram from IIT Chennai and Dr Pooja Purang from IIT Mumbai for their valuable guidance during the initial phase of the study, to the anonymous reviewers for their encouraging and insightful feedbacks, and to the first author's brother Abhishek Kamble for preparing the website for data collection in study 2.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Data availability statementThe data that support the findings of this study are available on Figshare (https://figshare.com/s/53345aed304db532cfbf).Additional informationNotes on contributorsHeena KambleHeena Kamble is a PhD in Psychology from Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling Centre, University of Mumbai, India. Professional International School Counsellors (PISCs) experience a range of well-being challenges that are specific to the dynamics of their role. There is a scarcity of empirical research seeking to gain a better understanding of such challenges, along with coping strategies. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to investigate how PISCs maintain their well-being. The research used Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis applied to semi-structured interviews. Eight PISCs were recruited. The analysis revealed three overarching themes: (i) workload and role definition challenges, (ii) available support, and (iii) maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Findings showed that the study participants often have ill-defined roles, leading to role confusion and work overload. A key implication is that systematic provision is recommended for supporting PISCs’ well-being.

The fast-changing world of work has justified the need for contemporary, accessible and inclusive models of lifelong guidance, underpinned by principles of social justice and equity, that meet a range of needs, and have the ambition of leaving no one behind. While guidance provision is widely available across most education systems, guidance for the labour force is less accessible and often fragmented, varying in quality, scope, evidence-base and practice. For services to be fully effective adult and employment guidance practice must find ways to transfer knowledge and experiences of the daily practice of guidance, to advance professional learning and development, and ensure its assimilation into practice and policy for the benefit of clients. Drawing on qualitative data, this paper illustrates the role of praxis in informing a new model of employment guidance, the MEEG, and the challenges for adult guidance practice within activation-oriented public employment systems.

ABSTRACTPremature termination is a prevalent challenge faced by counsellors-in-training. To explore the experience of counsellors-in-training with premature termination of clients, this qualitative study used a transcendental phenomenological approach and recruited eight counsellors-in-training from a medium-size university in the southeastern United States. Adherent to the phenomenology approach with its assumptions, the authors conducted individual interviews with each participant and followed data collection and analysis processes of the transcendental phenomenological approach. Four overarching themes include: (a) Clinical Growth, (b) Coping Strategies, (c) Reaction to PT, and (d) Counsellor Education. Based on the results, discussions and recommendations were provided.KEYWORDS: Premature terminationcounsellors-in-trainingcounsellor educationdropoutcounselling students Data availability statementThe data that support the findings of this study are available on request from the corresponding author. Narrative Career Therapy (NCT) is recognised in this paper as having relevance for career practitioners who are working to create meaning for their clients in complex work life situations. Re-authoring Career Narratives is described as a practice that involves principles of NCT and these principles contribute to the exploration of agentive development. Re-authoring Career Narratives is demonstrated to support clients to navigate the reality that career learning is lifelong and evolving. We propose that a NCT requires practitioners to place emphasis on the contexts in which discourse is developed which can facilitate greater awareness of a client’s career identity and capacity to navigate uncertainty. We use a narrative research approach to explore how re-authoring practices assist clients to make career decisions. We recommend that re-authoring practices assist clients to reconstruct their stories and to gain insight into career identity as an evolving contextual phenomenon responsive to changing career and work landscapes.

This study aims to examine the effect of art therapy techniques carried out through individual counseling services to reduce academic stress on guidance and counseling students at FKIP Untirta Batch 2020. This study used an experimental research method. The experimental design used was Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B-A design. The research subject was one student who experienced academic stress. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, then displayed in the form of tables and graphs. The results showed that the average percentage at baseline 1 was 74% with 100% stability, in the intervention conditions it obtained an average percentage of 37.8% with 33.3% stability and in baseline 2 conditions an average of 36% with 100% stability. The data shows a decrease of 36% from baseline 1 to baseline 2 with a data overlap of 0% which indicates that providing interventions with art therapy techniques can have a good effect on reducing academic stress.
