The work purpose consists in the technological capacity updating of the method for cog-wheel continuous run-in gear grinding based on the purpose of efficient modes and characteristics of the worm disk. The investigation methods are based on mathematical modeling and planning experiments. Machining aircraft cylindrical cog-wheels and special samples was carried out on modern NC machines, benches and plants with the use of up-to-date test equipment: coordinate inspection machine KIM R-100 “Klingelnberg”, profile meter MarSurf M300S “Mahr”, optical microscope Axiovert 400MAT “Zeiss”, electronic scanning microscope Tescan Mira3 “Tescan”, micro-hardness gage Micro Met 5104 “Buehler”, X-ray diffractometer Xstress Robot “Stresstech OY”, Barkhausen digital nose analyzer Rollscan 350 “StresstechOY”, plant APOON on the well-known and developed techniques. The research results and novelty. Special strategy and cutting modes at the required characteristics of the combined polish-grinding worm allow ensuring gear profile roughness Ra=0.089 mkm keeping high accuracy of a ring gear (gear profile error Fa=1.6mkm) without gear honing thereby increasing productivity. The quality researches of gear surface layer give grounds for the application of the method for aircraft cog wheels.

The work purpose is to increase productivity in bulk material separation by means of the development of a test sample of the installation for bulk material separation into fractions. There is considered bulk material motion in a working chamber of the screw screen and the results of experimental investigations of bulk medium movement parameters are presented, depending on design and operation characteristics of screw screens, and also nomograms of dependences of a rate of bulk particle longitudinal movements upon a screw screen diameter, for different values of correction factors, weight of bulk particles, an angular velocity of the screw screen and fill factors. A design of the plant for bulk separation, test data and technical characteristics of the test plant are shown. A novelty is confirmed by six invention patents of the RF. By means of the complex method of investigations there are obtained dependences for definition of a rate of bulk particle longitudinal motion in screw screens, and also a length of working chamber of the screw screen.

The paper is dedicated to the methods of heat-power backup supply. A search for a solution to update a process of power backup supply to consumers of the first category is carried out. There is carried out a comparative analysis of all accessible systems for power backup supply including those which were not used earlier for the most significant consumers. As a solution in the paper there are offered micro-turbine installations as the most efficient and convenient in operation. The method is based on the principle of comparison allowing the choice of the most suitable solution. The investigation results are a fundamentally new solution for this field of researches as micro-turbine installations were not used earlier for power backup supply of consumers of the first category. Various versions of power backup supply are presented, problem setting is carried out taking into account the requirements made, the objects under investigations are described and conclusions on the best version for heat-power backup supply of the consumers of the first category are presented.

In the paper there is presented a procedure for the life testing of a hinge pivot in a dump car. This unit is one of the most significant elements in the design on which depends traffic safety. As a method for the estimate of reliability and life of the element under consideration there are chosen accelerated life tests allowing the definition of fatigue strength characteristics using a limited number of samples at the specified forced mode. Particular attention is paid to the circuit of sample installation on a plant, to the circuit of loading, to the estimate and substantiation of load values at the known loading range of the hinge pivot unit corresponding to speed motion distribution of a car under operation. The analysis of acting loads in operation is carried out, a total damaging impact during car operation and an equivalent force of sample loading are defined identical by a damaging impact to an acting loading range of a sample under testing are defined. According to the investigation results there is developed and approbated successfully a new procedure for the fulfillment of bench tests allowing more complete and reliable estimates of hinge pivot unit life for a dump car in comparison with computational methods.

The application of hardened steel parts for the purpose of wear-resistance increase becomes increasing spread in different branches of mechanical engineering. In view of high hardness of the work surface of parts, finishing is carried out by flat grinding. During the hardened steel grinding there are formed burns, cracks, admixtures of abrasive particles in the work surface which are inadmissible defects in a surface layer of critical parts mounted in the fuel unit of an aviation engine. The analysis of literature and company experience has shown that after thermal treatment instead of finishing is necessary to use surface finishing by a face milling method, but there are no sufficient recommendations for tool choice and cutting modes to date. Jointly with the educational department there are carried out theoretical researches of cutters for the face milling of the “selector housing” mass-produced parts consisting of corrosion-resistant 95H18-Sh steel with the hardness of 59÷61 HRC. In the paper there is considered a chemical composition of 95H18-Sh steel, a method for manufacturing a cast, its physical, mechanical and chemical properties. Taking into account data obtained for the face-milling cutter installation on the frame there was chosen Sandvik Coromant material for the replaceable cutting insert the base of which consists of hard alloy 1010 with PVD coating. Later on there was carried out selection of basic geometrical parameters and characteristics of a cutting plate and also a micro-geometry of a major cutting edge and a tip. Mass-produced replaceable through-away plates with R245-12 T3 M-PM number of 1010 hard alloy and PVD coating were obtained from the catalog of Sandvik Coromant company. At the end of the work a conclusion was drawn that the application of face milling will allow ensuring the requirements to the design documentation of the product, decreasing thermal and power stress of the process, increasing productivity, surface quality and excluding the necessity in abrasion, and the investigation results are applicable to the fulfillment of the complete factor experiment and computation of a simulator with the definition of the impact of variable factors upon a response function.

To improve functional properties of pre-eutectic silumins there are used many different methods having a complex effect upon processes of structure formation and physical-mechanical properties of alloys. In this paper there is offered a method for alloy operation characteristics increase by the example of wear-resistance by the impact of nanosecond electro-magnetic pulses (NEMP) upon silumin melt AK7ch (AL9). Melt illumination was carried out with the generator (NEMP) (GNI-01-1-6) submersible rod radiator. The melt was overheated to 900ºC and processed with NEMP with the length up to 25 min after that it was cooled at a rate of 20ºC/min. Slow cooling contributed to the formation of a structure close to equilibrium. Cylindrical ingots with a diameter of 0.06 m (60mm) and a height of 0.06 m (60 mm) were obtained. Wear-resistance was defined on a cross cut of ingots according to GOST 23.208-79. As a standard of comparison were used non-irradiated samples of silumin. It is defined that melt NEMP processing changes considerably parameters of crystallization, structure formation and increases silumin properties. At abrasive wear, silumin wear-resistance changes from the duration of melt electro-pulse processing according to an extreme dependence with the evident maximum at melt irradiation in the course of 15 min. At that in the edge area of the ingot wear-resistance increases by 1.54 times, and in the central one – by 1.34 times. This effect is explained by the fact that during melt NEMP processing during 15 min the characteristics of alloy micro-structure change considerably: morphology and dimensions of structural constituents. At that there is formed a qualitatively new fine structure of a non-dendritic type which ensures maximum values of alloy wear-resistance. The data obtained allow developing technology of wear-resistant silumin fusion intended for operation under abrasive wear conditions.

The purpose of the work is to create an engineering procedure for the synthesis of starting rheostats on semiconductor thermo-resistors (STR) ensuring a simple and reliable start of electric motors. The developed procedure for the synthesis of starting rheostats based on STSs allows designing simple-formed, small cheap and reliable in operation starting devices of all kinds. There is developed a universal method of the synthesis of STR-based starting rheostats based on two installed invariants of the similarity of starting processes connecting specified starting indices with the parameters of STR-based rheostats. The method applies to different types of electric motors taking into account: - changing temperature conditions of environment; - quantitative indices of semiconductor material; - different types of thermo-resistors. A corresponding algorithm of for the computation of STR-based starting rheostats is developed. It is proved that a field of thermo-resistor rheostat application is dc and ac electric motors. In the paper there are shown design peculiarities of semiconductor thermo-resistor creation and a number of limitations on which a character of starting electric installations depends are formulated.

The problems of traction properties increase in locomotives are considered. The necessity in devices for instantaneous control of a friction coefficient of wheels and rails based on the impact of electric current or a magnetic field upon a wheel/rail contact area. There are defined basic fields of researches essential for the actual realization of such devices. It is defined that devices based on electric current impact require the introduction of considerable changes in the units of a crew part for wheel pair insulation and searches of problem solution in the separation of traction current and control one and the prevention of control current impact upon alarm systems. It is offered to consider magnetic amplifiers of adhesion as a solution of a short-term outlook which can be introduced in an existing locomotive fleet and those using current impact as a solution of newly-developed promising machines. There is offered a design of an individual traction drive simplifying a problem in the arrangement of devices for instantaneous control of a friction coefficient.

Work purpose: improving effectiveness and quality in the control of engineering processes of tool working in the plasma generator of a glow discharge based on neural network monitoring. Investigation methods: use of nature and regularities of human thought at the development of the computer model of a neural network allowed realizing a cybernetic approach at real production object work modeling with the purpose of increasing effectiveness and quality of control at the management based on neural network monitoring. The essence of the modeling method consists in the development of such algorithms and programs which imitate the behavior of the plasma generator of a glow discharge, its characteristics in the structure, volume and field of technological parameter use essential for the research. Investigation results: the system offered for the control of effectiveness and quality of realizable engineering processes during plasma generator work based on neural network monitoring allows ensuring good repeatability of the results on tool strengthening. The defined sequence of engineering process operations of product working in the plasma generator of a glow discharge ensures the formation of specified structure and micro-hardness on the surface of products under processing. In the system offered control and management are formed on the basis of a neural network approach and imitate system behavior at all machining steps of processing. The results of continuous monitoring are shown with the essential discontinuity in on-line modes in the form of values and deviations of controlled technological parameters of the working process on the display of an electronic control unit. The generality and simultaneous uniqueness of the properties of continuous monitoring systems on applicability for real technological object control and range extension of problems solved with their help transforms them into compulsory means for complex automated device equipment. The modeling algorithm offered at the formation of an automated system to control effectiveness and quality in functioning plasma generator of a glow discharge for strengthening a wide range of tools with different profiles with machining steps differed in character of plasma impact, duration and their realization priority allowed optimizing the repeatability of results in ensuring specified properties in surface-bounded layers that satisfies conditions of the automated technological environment.

The research purpose is to realize a multi-stage model developed by the authors to show fatigue failures accumulation and failures of anti-friction materials and layers in slider bearings. The model describes: a scattered accumulation of micro-cracks, formation and development of a micro-crack system up to a limiting state of an object. There are solved some problems. The problem of model parameter identification on the basis of the analysis of babbit sample tests is solved with the use of the simplest optimization method – a method of a deformable polyhedron. At that there are used principles of the least-squares method. A new result is four model parameters obtained finally. A computation problem of anti-friction babbit layer life required the development of a new software product. Software testing is carried out as a comparison of bearing-sample tested for fatigue and calculated life of these samples. The calculated and experimental lives are consistent. It confirms model working capacity.
