The broad objective of the study was to examine Corporate Visioning and Organizational Growth for Multinational Corporations. The research method used was secondary research method and particularly literature review which is the use and review of data available on the internet. The secondary data sources referred to were articles and various journals. The objective of ascertaining whether a vision statement affects the organizational growth of a Multinational Corporation appears to be positive from reviewed literature because it reveals that there is a direct impact of vision on organizational growth and performance, and vision can determine the organizational ideal future condition. The other objective of ascertaining the impact of vision communication on organizational growth networks from reviewed literature can be concluded that vision communication, which can be classified as shared vision, is very imperative for organizational growth. It will position the organization well for global competition and the actualization of goals and objectives that can lead to superior performance and, ultimately, organizational growth and transformation. The study recommends that organizations that want to expand and achieve superior performance and transformation must have an inspiring vision and a vision that is properly crafted and communicated to all stakeholders of the organization in order to serve as a guiding light towards growth focus.

Oil and gas well delivery involves the execution of well projects, with attention to safety, design specification, desired well objectives, planned time, and agreed budget. These projects involve drilling, completion, work-over, and decommissioning/restoration (also known as abandonment) activities. Performance, with respect to the oil and gas well delivery process, is the result of comparing the actual versus plan of the above-mentioned indicators. This means, to obtain an accurate performance report, there must be benchmarks, clearly agreed upon, prior to the commencement of well execution. Plan-beating performance is not achieved without a deliberate strategy. One of the major contributors to such is the value derived from discussions about the well project. These discussions occur in what could be termed value-creation events. Value creation events are simply discussion sessions organized with the intent to derive value that has the potential to improve well-delivery performance. Attendees are largely the stakeholders in the project, including the facilitator of the event. These value-creation events are classified based on the timing of the event relative to the project execution as pre-execution or post-execution events. This paper discusses various value creation events under these classifications and how they are used to drive well delivery performance, with a focus on the value obtained to aid time and cost reduction and delivery of stated well objectives at the minimum.

A 2013 EC report suggests that buildings are big energy consumers in current society. Characterized by steady infrastructure growth and staff strength, the University of Education, Winneba, has witnessed an overall increase in its energy load. As part of global measures for energy efficiency and tackling global warming, it is of the essence that states institutions like public universities champion efforts for reduced energy consumption; this is essential for meeting sustainable development goals. Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative approaches, this research is a longitudinal study that investigates energy waste at the University of Education, Winneba. The study establishes the existence of energy waste in public universities which has seen very little research, and explores the alternative approaches to mitigating energy waste on campus to reduce the financial burden created by an increase in expenditure on (utility) electricity bills in the university.

This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial efficacy of Vernonia amygdalina (bitter leaf) on some bacteria isolated from locally produced soymilk in different markets in Enugu metropolis. The test organisms were identified using standard microbiological methods. The antibacterial activities of ethanolic and methanolic extracts of Vernonia amygdalina (bitter leaf) were carried out by agar well diffusion method. Ethanolic and methanolic extracts of the plant were used at varying concentrations of 200, 100, 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25, 3.125, 1.56, and 0.76 mg/ml, respectively. The two extracts were found to show antibacterial activity. However, the ethanolic extract had more activity than the methanolic extract. The inhibition zone diameter (IZD) of the ethanolic extract varied from 4 – 20 mm, while that of the methanolic extract varied from 4 -16 mm for all the bacteria tested. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ethanolic and methanolic extracts varied with bacteria; 1.56 mg/ml respectively for Staphylococcus aureus, 3.125 mg/ml and 6.25 mg/ml for Escherichia coli, 6.25 mg/ml and 25 mg/ml for Salmonella spp, 3.125 mg/ml and 6.25 mg/ml for Klebsiella spp, and 3.125 mg/l for the typed strains (E. coli NCTC 12241, K. pneumoniae NCTC 13368). The ciprofloxacin (50mg/ml) used as a standard antibiotic compared well with the plant extracts at 200 mg/l. The phytochemical analyses revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, glycosides, and tannins. This study shows that plant extract can be used as an alternative to conventional antibiotics.

A 2018 study by the Eye Unit of the Ghana Health Service revealed that about 270,200 Ghanaians are blind, representing 0.74% of the Ghanaian population. Records indicate that the education and training of blind people in Ghana date back to the early 1940s. The study of Creative Arts involves experimentation and interaction with the natural environment as a problem-solving tool for national development. Creative Arts encompass Art forms like painting, sculpture, graphic designing, and ceramics. However, in the study of Arts in Ghana, certain challenges have become barriers for the visually impaired who pursue art. This is a conceptual study conducted at the University Practice School – South Campus – Ghana. It delves into the challenges that visually impaired learners are exposed to in the study of Arts and establishes if it is the end of the road for a mainstream student who becomes visually impaired along the path in pursuing the dream as an artist. The study identified that visually impaired learners can express themselves artistically once the teaching and learning process is facilitated with tailor-made teaching and learning strategies in art which directly focuses on potential art learners who are visually impaired. The study gathered that mainstream education in Ghana should be restructured to enable harnessing the potential of visually impaired learners.

Kikuyu language is a highly agglutinative language with an S-V-O sentence structure. This study aims to find out the phonological processes of the Kikuyu dialectical words and determine the phonological rules. A limited number of studies have been done in the Kikuyu language concerning the phonological processes. Therefore, this study is justifiable because it will not only give more lexical units which are subject to phonological processes in the Kikuyu language, which may be inadequate in the previous studies but also create awareness among the scholars of the various Kikuyu lexicons which undergo the phonological processes. The data for analysis is presented using phonetic transcription, and it was collected from the native, resourceful speakers of the Kikuyu language and from selected Kikuyu texts like Phonetics and Tonal Systems of Kikuyu (Lilias Armstrong, 2017) and Modern Gikuyu Dictionary: Gikuyu-English, English-Gikuyu (Kasahorow, 2014). The Distinctive Features theory is used in the phonological analysis of the data. The results of the study showed that different Kikuyu words undergo phonological processes evident in this study, like assimilation, consonant strengthening, glide formation, nasal coalescence, consonant coalescence, insertion, and vowel deletion.

Background: Post-partum haemorrhage is a major cause of maternal death globally but more in low-income countries. While various studies recognized the efficacy of misoprostol in decreasing intraoperative blood loss, there is no consensus on the most effective route of administration of misoprostol. Objective: This study compared the effect of sublingual misoprostol with rectal misoprostol in preventing primary post-partum haemorrhage in women with risk factor(s) to PPH. Methodology: This is a comparative study that involved 200 participants who were randomized to two groups by 1:1 computer-based randomization (group A & group B). Each participant in group A received a 600mcg sublingual misoprostol plus rectal placebo, and participants in group B received a 600mcg rectal misoprostol plus sublingual placebo after delivery. The delivery mat already in use and soaked with liquor was removed once delivery was imminent, a new pre-weighed mat was replaced under the patient's buttocks, and also a pre-weighed sanitary pad was placed in her vulva to collect all the blood loss. The need for additional uterotonics and blood transfusion was assessed, and findings were documented appropriately in the proforma. Blood loss throughout a period of 24 hours after the delivery was measured by the gravimetric method. Weight gain from the sanitary pad/ delivery mat was calculated as 1g = 1 ml. The sanitary pad/mat was weighed in triplicate, and the mean of the three weights was entered into the database. The difference was the amount of blood loss, assuming 1g to be equivalent to 1 ml of blood. Result: The median 24-hour post-partum blood loss was less in sublingual group when compared with the rectal group (110ml vs 170ml) P=0. 001.The mean post-partum Hb was higher in sublingual group 10.00±1.21 vs 9.00± 0.61 P=0.30. Both sublingual and rectal routes of misoprostol administration were effective in preventing PPH, P-value=1.0 and there was no indication for extra-uterotonic or blood transfusion. Conclusion: It is concluded that even though sublingually and rectally administered misoprostol showed equal efficacy in preventing PPH, sublingual route is associated with less blood loss.

Fish is a vital food source for people and contributes about 60% of the world's supply of protein. It is extremely perishable, and if not properly preserved, it deteriorates and can be detrimental to human health when consumed. The present study was carried out to isolate Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella spp. from thawed fish. A total of 10 thawed fish samples were bought from different fish retailers in different markets within Enugu metropolis. The result revealed that out of the 10 thawed fish samples that were analyzed using Mannitol Salt Agar and Salmonella Shigella Agar, 8(80%) of the samples had Staphylococcus aureus while 6(60%) had Shigella spp. The isolates were subjected to different antibiotics, and the result showed that all the Staphylococcus aureus isolates were sensitive to Amoxicillin and ciprofloxacin. Also, 7 isolates were sensitive to Erythromycin and Rifampicin, while 6 isolates were sensitive to Levofloxacin, and 4 isolates were sensitive to Ampiclox and Norofloxacin. All the Staphylococcus aureus isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol, while 6 isolates were also resistant to Gentamycin, and 7 isolates showed resistance to Streptomycin. Also, all the Shigella spp. isolates were sensitive to Ciprofloxacin, Amoxicillin, and Perfloxacin. 5 isolates were sensitive to Augmentin, while 4 isolates were also sensitive to Streptomycin and Gentamycin. All the isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol and Septrin. The study shows that the thawed fish samples may have been contaminated through faecally contaminated water bodies and through unhygienic handling of the fish during and after harvest. Hence, it is important to find better ways of preserving/handling fish to avoid contamination with pathogenic micro-organisms since it can be detrimental to human health.

Also, 7 isolates were sensitive to Erythromycin and Rifampicin, while 6 isolates were sensitive to Levofloxacin, and 4 isolates were sensitive to Ampiclox and Norofloxacin. All the Staphylococcus aureus isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol, while 6 isolates were also resistant to Gentamycin, and 7 isolates showed resistance to Streptomycin. Also, all the Shigella spp. isolates were sensitive to Ciprofloxacin, Amoxicillin, and Perfloxacin. 5 isolates were sensitive to Augmentin, while 4 isolates were also sensitive to Streptomycin and Gentamycin. All the isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol and Septrin. The study shows that the thawed fish samples may have been contaminated through faecally contaminated water bodies and through unhygienic handling of the fish during and after harvest. Hence, it is important to find better ways of preserving/handling fish to avoid contamination with pathogenic micro-organisms since it can be detrimental to human health.","PeriodicalId":14101,"journal":{"name":"International journal of innovative research and development","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84432090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were formed to continually improve the quality of life enjoyed by humanity, stabilize progress made in sustainable development advancements and prevent the continued deterioration of natural life support systems. The study looked at the level of awareness/understanding, knowledge acquired by the generality of people, and perceived importance attached to the various SDGs by stakeholder groups sampled in Port Harcourt metropolis. We administered a questionnaire to a total of three-hundred persons, and our findings show gaps between what they have heard about SDGs and what SDGs entail. Based on this evident gap, we proposed nine recommendations that can deepen the knowledge and practice of SDGs, some of which are: the establishment of sustainable development and climate change clubs in secondary schools, enhancing awareness/knowledge and practices of SDGs and their targets through facilitative workshops, expanding the sustainability pillars to six by including performance as the sixth pillar and sub-dividing them into three functional groups. Also, expounding how interrelated and interlinked the SDGs are towards marrying the need for a holistic approach and focusing on the priority SDG needs of each locality, the enactment of enabling laws, enhancing the SDG Week concept, and the intensification of stakeholder education was mentioned.

Cocoyam (Colocasia esculenta) is an important tropical root crop grown purposely for its starchy corms. This study was carried out to isolate and identify fungi associated with the spoilage of cocoyam corms. These organisms were isolated from spoilt corms by direct inoculation of the rotten tissues on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar. The fungal isolates were identified using cultural and morphological features such as colony appearance and also through microscopic characteristics. The isolated organisms include Rhizopus stolonifera, Rhizopus arrhizus, Fusarium oxysporum, and Aspergillus niger. Out of the 70 samples that were analyzed, 45 (64%) had Rhizopus stolonifera, 36 (51%) had Fusarium oxysporum, 52 (74%) had Rhizopus arrhizus while 61 (87%) had Aspergillus niger. A pathogenicity test was carried out on healthy corms using isolated microorganisms. The result showed that the organisms were responsible for the deterioration of the corms. These organisms may have infected these corms through contaminated working tools during harvest or improper storage by farmers. Corms are always infected by molds if not properly handled or stored. Hence, proper care should be taken while harvesting, handling, or storing these corms to avoid being infected by these pathogenic organisms since they can be detrimental to human health. It can also cause huge economic losses to farmers.
