Aim: This research was carried out to determine the effect of common symptoms experienced by diabetic women entering menopause on quality of life parameters. Material and Methods: The sample of the study, which was carried out as a prospective single-group study, consisted of 106 female patients between the ages of 50-70 who were diagnosed with diabetes and were in the climacteric period. ‘Demographic questionnaire form’, ‘Diabetes past history form’ and ‘UTİAN quality of life Scale’ were used for data collection. Results: It was determined that 52.8% of the diabetic women in the climacteric period were 45-60 years old , 43.4% were over 60 years old, and most of them (70.8%) received primary school or less education. The diabetes diagnosis period of the patients (71.1%) varies between 6-20 years. It was determined that 45.3% of the women participating in the study experienced at least one of the chronic complications of diabetes. Among women, the quality of life of those who are single, highly educated, who do not experience dyspareunia and incontinence, and those who use Oral Antidiabetic (OAD) as a diabetes treatment is significantly higher than other women. (p<0,05). There was no found significant relationship between the total number of symptoms experienced by the patients, scale total and sub-dimension scores, duration of diabetes, HgA1c values, fasting and postprandial blood glucose values (p>0,05). contain common symptoms, this situation negatively affects the lives of women. It is very important to use effective nursing approaches such as education, counseling, and follow-up in improving the quality of life of the patients by correctly identifying the symptoms that occur with menopause in diabetic female patients.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to identify the COVID-19 epidemic concerns and care needs of diabetes patients. Material and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with diabetes patients constitutes living in Turkey. The data were collected on the social media platform Facebook, with an online questionnaire created by the researchers in line with the literature. The sample of the study consisted of 213 diabetic patients who were willing to participate in the study. Descriptive statistical tests were used to evaluate the data. Before starting the study, ethics committee approval was obtained after the study permission was obtained from the Ministry of Health. Results: The participants, 61.5% were women, 43.7% had diabetes “between 5-10 years” and their mean age was 55.12 ± 12.79. In the process of the Covid-19 outbreak, the participants; 69.0% could not go to the hospital for medical examination and to be protected from having information about how diabetic patients will be affected by the epidemic (61.5%), wanting to know what other diabetic patients do in this process (53.1%), asking for advice from health care personnel during this process (77.9%). The most concern of diabetes patients during the epidemic process are; the probability of the virus infecting them (68.1%), the probability of the virus making them sick (68.1%), and dying due to the virus (69%). Conclusion: As a result, it may be suggested to establish units such as diabetes support desks and telephone counseling lines in health institutions to address the concerns and care needs of diabetes patients who are considered to be a high-risk group during the Covid-19 pandemic process.

Aim: Planned pregnancy is important in terms of maternal and infant health in women with diabetes of reproductive age. In this period, it is necessary to use the correct contraception method to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The study was conducted to determine contraception use behaviors and related factors of women with type 2 diabetes. Material and Methods: The study included 194 women with type 2 diabetes who applied to a diabetes outpatient clinic in a public hospital and were in their reproductive period. The data were obtained with a diagnosis form that inquired about the sociodemographic and disease characteristics of women and their knowledge about using contraception. In the evaluation of the data, t test and Chi-square test were used in independent groups. Results: In the study, it was determined that 54.6% of the diabetic women used contraception method and preferred the most coitus interruptus (40.5%) and condom (39.7%) management. It was found that only 33.5% contraception and 38.6% preferred the method they used because it was cheap / free. In the study, it was found that women with three or more children and who received information about contraception had a higher rate of using contraception, however, women who had no prospective pregnancy thought used contraception at a lower rate. Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that only half of the women with diabetes used contraception method. It was determined that the use of contraception and the number of children, the state of obtaining information about contraception and the prospective pregnancy idea were associated.

Aim: We aimed to investigate the prevalence of diabetes in COVID-19 patients and the effect of diabetes on the course of COVID-19 disease. Material and Methods: Patients diagnosed with COVID-19 disease in Istanbul Sancaktepe Martyr Prof. Dr. Ilhan Varank Training and Research Hospital between 01/06/2020 and 30/10/2020 were included in the study. Medical records of patients were analyzed from the hospital information management system. We examined medical history, PCR test results, blood test results, computerised tomography reports, hospitalization and treatment results. Results: 2414 patients, 1145 females and 1269 males were included in the study. The diabetes prevalence in the whole group was 18.6%. The rate of hospitalization and the rate of admission to intensive care unit was significantly higher in diabetics than non-diabetics. In the diabetic group; total length of stay in hospital and intensive care unit was significiantly higher. The rate of presence of pneumonia on tomography was significantly higher in diabetics. The mortality rate was significiantly higher in diabetics than non-diabetics. Conclusion: We found the prevalence of diabetes in COVID-19 patients to be 18.6%. The rate of presence of pneumonia on thorax CT, the rate of hospitalization and the rate of admission to the intensive care unit were found to be significantly higher in diabetics. The mortality rate was found to be higher in COVID-19 patients with diabetes. Diabetes mellitus may lead to worse clinical outcomes in COVID-19 patients. COVID-19 may be more mortal in diabetic patients.
