Establishing identity from fragmented skeletal remains is difficult when compared to other techniques available. Incases like natural disasters, bomb explosions etc. where only few fragmented remains of the body are present, thenforensic anthropology can be used to establish the identity. Even though determination of sex from skull is possible, ifskull fragments are only available then the importance of foramen magnum for determination of sex comes intoconsideration if occipital bone is present. The current study was done to find the possibility of sex determination inNorth Kerala population using the measurements of foramen magnum. The sagittal and transverse diameters of foramenmagnum were measured using digital Vernier callipers and the values were analysed and was found that sagittaldiameter of foramen magnum can be used to differentiate the sex in the present study and that the sex of an individualcannot be determined based on transverse diameter of Foramen Magnum in the given population.

Background: Zoledronate is an antiresorptive therapy used to treat various bone conditions, including both malignantand benign diseases. It is usually very well tolerated and the side effects are usually acute and mild. We report a very rarecase of zoledronic acid induced optic nerve dysfunction which needs early recognition and management. Case report:We report a case of 78 year old male adenocarcinoma prostate Gleason score 4+3 who developed local recurrence withskeletal metastasis in February 2023. After 4 cycles of zoledronate, patient developed decreased vision in left eye.Visualacuity decreased and colour vision was defective. Both eyes PVEP showed reduced amplitude of P100 waves in the lefteye compared to right eye which was suggestive of optic nerve dysfunction in the left eye which was probably zoledronicacid induced. Patient recovered gradually on withdrawal of the drug. The ocular complications of Conclusion:zoledronate are very rare. The reported side effects occured acutely like uveitis, scleritis, episcleritis caused byinflammatory stimulus mediated by proinflammatory cytokines and T helper cells. Here we report a case of optic nervedysfunction that presents gradually. Hence we suggest that patients; especially elderly and those with pre existingocular problems should be seen by an ophthalmologist prior to zoledronic acid administration and have periodic eyecheck up after every cycle.

Lump breast is one of the most ominous conditions more so were associated with axillary lymph node both for the patientand physicians. Our patient presented with lump in the upper medial quadrant region of right breast. carcinoma breastwas one of the possibilities however on detailed examination and investigation it was found to be tubercular abscess ofthe pectoralis major muscle situated underneath the mammary gland. Tubercular abscess of pectoralis major and thattoo mimicking lump breast is rare, hence we report this case. Muscular Tuberculosis is also uncommon, muscle containsmyoglobin which utilizes oxygen more efficiently hence leaving no oxygen for M. tuberculosis to grow which areobligatory aerobes. Tuberculous mastitis is a rare presentation of tuberculosis that has been called the 'greatmasquerade' due to its multifaceted presentations. Solitary breast mass is the most common clinical presentation oftuberculous mastitis and is associated with inflammatory findings in the majority of cases.

Introduction: One of the most frequent side effects of fixed orthodontic therapy is the development of white spot lesions(WSL) surrounding fixed orthodontic treatment. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the patients' awareness of thepossibility of developing WSLs while undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment, as well as the patients' oral hygienepractices and any preventive measures administered during treatment. Methodology: Questionnaires are used in thiscross-sectional observational study. Convenience sampling was used to choose the subjects from among orthodonticpatients who visited the orthodontic OPD.Individuals who met the requirements for inclusion were requested to respondto the surveys. The knowledge evaluations focused on how orthodontic patients should maintain their dental hygieneand how WSL develops during treatment. Results: The questionnaires were distributed to 32 subjects in total. Themajority of them were unaware that having braces can result in the development of WSL around the brackets. Of thosewho maintained oral hygiene,a large number of people brush their teeth more than twice a day. Of them, about 75% saidthat their orthodontic doctor placed a strong emphasis on proper tooth cleaning technique. Conclusion: The majority ofpatients have a rudimentary understanding of white spot lesions as a side effect of fixed orthodontic treatment and goodmouth hygiene habits.Treatment outcomes will be improved by raising their knowledge on fixed orthodontic treatmentand their development of WSL for ortho patient.

Background: Foreign body (FB) ingestion is commonly encountered in medical emergencies. Unlike adults, FBingestion is more prevalent in children. The type of FB ingestion and associated complications vary significantly.Unlikeadults where FB ingestion can be accidental, FB ingestion in children is because of their tendencies to explore and puteverything in their mouth with weak reflexes. In the current crossectional study, we aimed to evaluate the prevalence, risk factors, impaction site, clinical presentations, treatment modalities used to extract FBs in patients presenting FBingested emergency. Methods: We conducted a crossectional prospective study in the department of ENT, Head andNeck Surgery,Government Medical College, and Associated Hospitals (Sri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital),Srinagar J&K.The patients admitted for FB ingestion emergency were enrolled for the current study. All the relevant demographic, clinical, and therapeutic modalities of each patient were recorded during the study. Results:The medical history of 284subjects who presented with FB ingestion in emergency admitted between July 2019 to July 2021 was evaluated. Morenumber of the subjects were in the age group of ≤ 5years. Unlike coin impaction in the paediatric subjects (84%), thebone chip ingestion was the most frequent impacted FB (57.7%) followed by the coin (31%) in the adult patients. Theimpacted meat bolus and the button battery ingestion were reported in 67% and 1.4% of the subjects respectively.Thelone mortality reported in our cohort was by the ingestion of a button battery. Conclusion: The prevalent type ofingested FB in the pediatric subjects was the coin, and bone chip ingestion was more frequent FB in the adult subjects. The therapeutic intervention for FB removal primarily depends upon the type of FB ingested, and site of impaction.Battery ingestion at an early age can be fatal for the subject.

Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) is a type of cancer in young adults, characterized by a large inflammatory microenvironmentand a low number of malignant cells originating from B lymphocytes. It is a distinct lymphomatous cancer that ishistologically defined by Reed-Sternberg cells in the right kind of cell environment. The disease primarily affects youngadults, with a peak incidence occurring between the ages of 15 and 35. There are two subtypes: classical Hodgkinlymphoma (CHL) and nodular lymphocyte predominant HL (NLPHL). A 75-year-old patient with Stage IV HL wasadmitted for chemotherapy cycle IA (75% dose) on 14/06/2023 and was prescribed medications such as Adriamycin,Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine. The patient had systemic hypertension, a cataract, and a hernia. The patient also had ahistory of loss of appetite, neck swelling, and difficulty in hearing.A biopsy from level III right neck showed Hodgkin'slymphoma (Lymphocyte rich CHL).The next cycle of chemotherapy was scheduled on 28/06/2023.The patient was alsoadmitted for cycle IIA chemotherapy (75% dose) and was prescribed the same medications again. The next cycle wasscheduled on 26/07/2023.
