AGARICOMYCETES MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS WITH POTENTIAL NEUROPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY GROWING IN ARMENIA 在亚美尼亚生长的具有潜在神经保护活性的菌类药用蘑菇

The Agaricomycetes mushrooms (phylum Basidiomycota) are recognised sources of valuable food and medicines. They are producers of bioactive compounds (phenolics, polysaccharides, proteins, steroids, terpenoids, etc.) possessing around 130 therapeutic effects (antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, etc.). Mushrooms are also reported as potential neurotrophic and neuroprotective agents. Seventeen edible and inedible agaricomycetous species from different taxonomic and ecological groups have been reported in Armenia to possess neuroprotective activity. Evaluation resource value and biotechnological potential of Armenian agaricomycetous mushrooms will assist further development of novel myco-pharmaceuticals to prevent and mitigate different disorders, including neurodegenerative.

Rich in natural antioxidants, Stevia rebaudiana has immunoregulatory, anti-stress, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antihistaminic properties, increases the body's nonspecific defense, bioenergetic level, and improves tissue respiration. We have studied the long-term effect of S. rebaudiana on morphofunctional parameters of peripheral blood.

The esterification of sucrose with stearic, palmitic and oleic acids yields the corresponding esters. Effective methods have been developed for carrying out the esterification reaction at temperatures of 150–170℃ in high-boiling aprotic dipolar solvents.

A modern study of the Arpa River and its tributaries allows evaluating the ecological state of the ecosystem according to phytoplankton development indicators and comparing it with previous data. It is known that modified control of hydrosystems for hydropower stations changes quantitative and qualitative indicators of water, which increases anthropogenic impact on the diversity of hydrobionts. In order to mitigate the environmental risks and improve the ecosystem self-cleaning it is necessary to carry out continuous monitoring and rapid assessment of the change in the composition of microalgae indicators.

Phytoplankton quantitative and qualitative parameters in “Yerevanyan Lich” Reservoir and the Hrazdan River were investigated in April and June–August 2015. The results of the study showed that algal bloom registered in “Yerevanyan Lich” Reservoir in summer 2015 created new environmental conditions which led to significant changes in reservoir’s phytoplankton dominant complex, affecting also phytoplankton composition in the Hrazdan River sites located downstream from the reservoir.

Shifts in some cardiac hemodynamic parameters were studied in students during a 15-minute cycle ergometer load attended with cold inhalation of clove essential oil. It is shown that the use of essential oil of cloves contributes to the alignment of shifts in the level of functional indicators of students, by increasing the adaptive capacity of the organism. Essential oil of cloves causes a decrease of “physiological cost” of physical activity performed by students by strengthening the economization processes of functional systems activity. Curing an increase in the sympathetic effects on the body, induced by physical activity, the oil of cloves contributes to the rapid restoration of the functional state of the body in the nearest post-load period. As a control, indicators of the functional state and cardiac hemodynamics of students who, during bicycle ergometer load, were not subjected to the corrective influence of the essential oil of cloves, were used.

MONITORING OF PHYTOPLANKTON STATUS IN LAKE SEVAN (ARMENIA) IN 2018 2018年塞万湖(亚美尼亚)浮游植物状况监测

The current status of phytoplankton community in Lake Sevan (LS) was investigated. Water samples for phytoplankton and mineral phosphorus analyses were collected seasonally (spring–fall) in 2018. The results of the study showed that the unstabilized processes and nutrient pollution of the lake ecosystem led to bluegreen algae bloom in July. All of this caused ecological and toxicological risks to the lake ecosystem and the environment and may lead to further algal blooms in LS.

The aim of the present study was the assessment of soil pollution by some potentially toxic trace elements in the environs of Akhtala Mining and Processing Enterprise and related environmental risks. The study was implemented in 2018. The level of soil contamination with trace elements was assessed by Enrichment factor, which is widely used as a contamination index. The study revealed that the soils, almost in all studied sites, were polluted by Cu, Pb, Zn, Co and Ni. From all trace elements studied the highest contents compared with background were observed for copper. Such situation is conditioned by anthropogenic factor, in particular, by mining activities since copper is the main metal extracted in Akhtala Mining and Processing Enterprise.

Agricultural risks of mineral salt (Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Na+, SO42- , Cl- , CO32- , HCO3- ) content in the water of the Voghji River catchment basin were assessed. Water sampling and hydrochemical analyses were implemented in July and September 2017. The results of the study showed that anthropogenic salt level in the Voghji River water site located downstream from Kapan Town and in the area of the Norashenik River mouth may have posed serious health risks to irrigated soils and crops.
