Paper-based testing has been the traditional model for decades in educational institutions. However, in recent years, there has been a gradual shift towards online testing, with greater adaptation to the use of digital tolos to administer exams. This change has the potential to transform the assessment process in higher education. The Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has experienced a remarkable evolution over time in educational assessment. The transition to electronic testing has allowed for greater efficiency in the application and grading of exams, with an increase in security and quality, and in a complementary way, provides students and professors with effective feedback. Keywords: Evaluation; test application system; digital tools; computer-based tests; feedback.

Kwashiorkor syndrome is characterized by protein malnutrition and edema, risk factors are recent weaning, infections, and diets based on corn and rice. This malnutrition can lead to skin manifestations such as thin, dry skin, hyperpigmentation, confluent areas of scaling, dry, hypopigmented, and detachable hair, as well as erosive dermatitis, predominantly in skin folds. The diagnosis is based on a nutritional evaluation exam, physical examination and laboratory finding, the treatment is based on early nutritional rehabilitation. Clinical case: 8-month-old female infant who attended the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría, presenting a scaling dermatosis of 1 months of evolution that was treated with topical ketoconazole. The mother reported exclusive feeding with corn gruel due to the diagnosis of “lactose allergy” and commented not enough resources to buy hydrolyzed formula. The patient presented a disseminated dermatosis to all- body segments, characterized by well-defined, irregularly shaped, hyperpigmented plaques with scaling in thick sheets in the perioral region and extremities, as well as areas of eroded skin and paleness and edema of extremities. Laboratory tests were taken, where anemia (Hb 11.2 g/dl) and hypoalbuminemia (3.3 g/dl) were documented, the diagnosis of Kwashiorkor syndrome was integrated. The clinical and laboratory findings were reported to the Gastroenterology and Nutrition service, who performed a nutritional assessment, and began nutritional treatment, emollients and general skin care were documented; twenty days later, the dermatosis and edema had subsided. Keywords: Malnutrition; dermatoses; edema; feeding; desquamation.

Distance education at the Faculty of Medicine (FM) is a modality that contributes to fulfilling the professional profile of the surgeon. Currently, there are 26 subjects called elective subjects online in the distance modality (MOLIMOD), attended by 46 advisors. The teacher evaluation is characterized by assessing the satisfaction of the students in the achievement of their learning, the performance of the teachers, their abilities, the use of psycho-pedagogical resources and learning strategies. The MOLIMOD advisors were evaluated from 2015 to 2022 through a questionnaire on the Moodle platform applied at the end of the course. The questionnaire was confidential and consisted of six dimensions. The teachers who are part of the Open University and Distance Education System of the Faculty of Medicine (SUAyED-FM) make up a varied academic body, ranging from 25 to 92 years of age, with training in various disciplines. The results allow us to support the argument that there is coherence between the definition of the teaching profile established by the SUAyED and the performance of its functions in the distance modality. Keywords: Medical education; teacher evaluation; distance modality; optional subjects.

One of the objectives of the UNAM School of Medicine is to offer its students the tools and preparation to advance in the command of the English language, which empowers them and allows them to interact in a greater number of contexts, besides covering the characteristics established in the profile of graduates of the Medical Doctor Degree. Due to this, the School of Medicine, through its General Secretariat, SUAyED and the English Program evaluated the existing programs for teaching English used until 2016. Based on these results, a plan was established in which new courses were designed following the level structure of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which would allow the students to advance from level 0 to B2, that is, an upper intermediate level. The results of these proposals demonstrate a significant advance in the command of the English language, as well as students with greater autonomy and self-confidence. Keywords: English reading comprehension; medical texts; CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference; B2 level; english courses; Medicine.
