The paper presents the survey results from 152 students from the first year to the fourth year on the situation of applying soft skills and solutions for integrating soft skills into teaching specialized knowledge at Tra VinhUniversity. The results indicate that students of different training years have different concerns about soft skills. Besides, the survey results also show that the classroom environment is the initial choice of students that needs soft skills (over 60%). In terms of possibility of integrating soft skills, soft skills are gradually accumulated overtime of training since students study from the first to the fourth year. The survey results also present that the integration of soft skills into teaching will create more inspiration, make the class atmosphere more lively, make it easier for students to absorb the course content, give students more opportunities to practice soft skills. The objective of this paper is to provide information on the current situation of applying soft skills and propose some solutions to integrate soft skills into teaching specialized knowledge in order to develop potential, creation, professional skills, capacity in the community and the ability of labor market integration for graduated students.

Courses in the undergraduate Information Technology CDIO-based training program are usually designed to integrate at least one kind of soft skills. In fact, teamwork is one of the skills that has been most applied by lecturers. However, lecturers often find it very difficult to assess learners fairly, objectively and comprehensively when applying this method while they are well aware of the fact that assessment is a particularly important stage and has a strong impact on both learners’ learning results and the quality of a training program. The paper presents the facts and recommends solutions to assessing learners through their teamwork skills in curriculum based on CDIO approach.

Self-study skills are one of the soft skills that play an extremely important role for students in the university environment. However, some universities in Vietnam, at present, have not introduced this skill into teaching soft skills, including Tra Vinh University. Self-study skills determine the majority of students’ learning outcomes, but in fact, not many students are aware of this. By questionnaires and in-depth interviews conducted in May 2019, the authors wish to present the current situation of self-study skills of students of the Department of State Management, Office Administration and Tourism, thereby proposing solutions of integrating self-study skills into specialized knowledge teaching in order to improve the learning quality of students of the Faculty in particular and Tra Vinh University in general.

The article presents the importance of integrating soft skills into teaching specialized knowledge. Through the article, the author presents the importance of Organizing Events subject as well as shows that Organizing Events is a subject that requires learners to have many skills such as: independent working skills, teamwork skills, creative thinking skills; coordination skills, problem-solving skills, listening skills and some other skills. All the skills mentioned above are applied to Organizing Events at each stage, each activity when organizing the event. In order for students to effectively apply the skills into the subject, teachers can design lectures, provide exercises in accordance with the content of the subject, divide each stage so that it can be further taught helping students grasp each content, thereby being able to best use the subject when designing each profile for the assumed event and students have to practice organizing events according to reality. Besides, the articlealso emphasizes that integrating soft skills into teaching specialized knowledge is a necessity, from the reality of the Organizing Events subject.

The research was conducted to understand the reality of integrating testing and assessment of students’s soft skills in teaching specialized knowledge at the Department of Office Administration - Library of Tra Vinh University. The results show that this work has advantages such as the person who performs the evaluation is experienced; the facilities for this work are relatively adequate; some specific subjects have flexible testing and evaluation forms. There are still limitations that are the assessment is still qualitative; only focus on testing and assessment some key skills; assessment tests have not been conducted on all students. Since then, it is necessary to have solutions to overcome the above limitations and the first important premise is to properly evaluate the importance of soft skills to make changes for improving the effectiveness of testing and assessment of students’s soft skills in teaching specialized knowledge.
