The film criticism is commonly thought as a way of reception of the film. We propose a reversal looking in this article in order to understand film criticism as a cultural and communicative product itself, which in its turn is consumed by an audience. Through the reception studies, we observe how readers of a website receive and re-signify the critical texts and therefore the films. We will consider the reception now in the light of the emergence of digital media and cyberculture. We will then make a brief analysis of the comments from the readers of the Brazilian website Cinema em Cena. Keywords: reception studies, film criticism, comments, readers.

We present a diagnosis of the studies about digital games in the field of Communication in Brazil, with the intention to reveal their main tendencies over the past 15 years. The theoretical framework was based on the discussion of the field of Game Studies. The sample was composed by the papers presented at Intercom, Compos and ABCiber and all theses and dissertations made in Brazil throughout that period. Results from a double- step quantitative content analysis indicate that Games Studies may have reached maturity in Brazil, but the research community remains small. Keywords : digital games, Game Studies, Brazil.

This article discusses the possibilities of the media coverage of two of the major environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the ECOA and the SOS Pantanal, from a systematic analysis of the main organizations in the social network Facebook throughout the year 2015, which originated figures which were interpreted in the light of theoretical discussions and in an exploratory way in an attempt to understand if communication practice can contribute to the debate on the regionalized environmental issues. This article integrates the scientific initiation research “Thinking environmental cyberculture: communication and discourse of environmental movement”, developed in the course of Social Communication – Journalism/Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). Keywords: environmental communication, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), environment, Facebook, Mato Grosso do Sul (MS).

This paper addresses the relationship between fashion and communication. Aiming to explain the occurrence of self-reference and hetero- reference – both of which are operations proper to an autopoietic system – within the fashion system, in Luhmann’s perspective, we elected as corpus seven dresses displayed in Alexander McQueen’s 2009-2010 Autumn-Winter fashion show The Horn of Plenty . In order to achieve the proposed objective, we betake Luhmann’s concepts of self-reference and hetero-reference, and analyze the dresses, by means of both those concepts and of Plaza’s modes of intersemiotic translation. The importance of the present paper lies upon the possibility to understand the production and reproduction of the fashion system, not through consumption tendency though. Keywords: fashion system, self-reference/hetero- reference, intersemiotic translation.

This article presents a discussion from a bibliographic survey of empirical studies that relate the thematic elderly and information and communication technologies with the aim of understanding how it has been treated in the academic world. For this survey, 50 studies were selected from international publications whose reference was the theme gerontechnology, emphasizing Brazil and Portugal. We concluded that the academic literature indicates that the use of ICT can help the elderly improve their quality of life, decrease solitude, increase access to information and the frequency of the communication with family. This makes us reflect on the need for the development of an interdisciplinary approach to technological research and for the development of services and applications in the field of health and well-being, as well as the socialization of the elderly. Keywords: information and communication technologies (ICT), aging, academic studies.

This paper aims to identify relations between international broadcasting and the global society and the society in mediatization through a bibliographical research. Technological advancements and economic motivation enhanced the potentiality of the media. Since then, it has reached geographically distant audiences, broadcasting mediatic representation on different realities. Within this context, the presented modality of broadcasting acts as a tool for diplomacy and is connected with the global society and in mediatization. In the international dynamic of the media, which is asymmetric and controlled by oligopolies, national states invest in international broadcasting in order to, in some measure, promote themselves throughout the world as well as to establish their broadcasters as alternative sources to foreign audiences. Keywords : globalization, mediatization, international broadcasting.

The paper aims to analyze the use of the Grindr app as an online environment of communication and construction and development of gay sociability. We seek to understand how the exposure of bodies in Grindr participates in the definitions of the possible relationships between subjects. More specifically, we analyze the communicational tensions between secrecy and visibility from that app. As a theoretical framework, we left the cabinet conceptions of Sedgwick and Miskolci, Levy’s cyberculture, Lemos’ cybercity and Mauss’ “prestigious imitation”. As the methodological framework, we conducted ethnographic research with 23 users of Grindr, but analyzed nine in this article who live in Belem (PA). The results allowed us to explore and analyze definitions around users’ sexual preferences, body and behavior and relate them to the studies on the homoeroticism in cyberspace. Keywords: cyberculture, Grindr, gay sociability, body.

This paper analyses the acclaimed Italian film Caesar Must Die (2012), directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, which is starred by inmates from Rome’s high-security prison Rebibbia. The present work aims at investigating how the movie’s performances appeal to audience, once reality and fiction intentionally mingle within the picture. Thus, it also approaches how directors use strategies considered as belonging to documentary aesthetics, pushing the boundaries of fiction and documentary genres. Authors such as Richard Schechner (2006), Bruno Leal (2005), Andre Brasil (2011), Jean Comolli (2008), Ruben Caixeta, and Cesar Guimaraes (2008) are included in the theoretical framework. From the definition used by both David Bordwell (2008) and Fernao Pessoa Ramos (2012), the conception of mise-en-scene is taken as an analytical operator. Keywords: performance, mise-en-scene , Caesar Must Die , fiction, documentary.
