This study aims to identify and analysed the Instrumental Motivation of English online learning during pandemic covid-19. Teachers and learners must be consistent in carrying out learning in special conditions nowadays. A teacher has very important role in fostering student motivation to take part in online learning, so the failures in the process of transferring knowledge to students can be minimized. This research is quantitative and descriptive qualitative study to examine Instrumental motivation in online learning during pandemic covid-19. The random sampling was used in this study. The questionnaire was used as an instrument in this study. The questionnaire consists of 12 questions as a test of instrumental motivation which is divided into three different types of questions such as: academic motivation, individual motivation and social motivation. The responses obtained from the participants were classified into five categories according to Gardner's Attitude and Motivation (Jefiza, 2017), such as; strongly agree, agree, doubt, disagree and strongly disagree. It was found that the motivation of students in online learning conducted in class was to finish on time. The total mean of academic aspect is 3.61 at the moderate level. Meanwhile, for the personal aspect, it was found that the value for the total mean of the personal aspect was 3.69 at a high level, and the mean of social aspects on instrumental motivation was 3.89 at a high level. It can be shown that, the students still have high motivation in taking online learning even during the pandemic covid-19.

This study was conducted to gather sufficient information on the language use: code mixing, code switching, borrowing, pidginization, and creolization. The method used in this study is through a literature study that collects several previous studies to answer about code mixing, code switching, borrowing, pidginization, and creolization purposes. The results of this study that code can be a variety related to the element of language like sentence, clause, phrase and word which have the limitation because the code which is chosen by the speaker based on his/her necessity in communicating. CodeMixing is the mix of code from two languages or more in some content of conversation in form of a sentence, while Code-Switching defined as a term which is used to indicate exchange of two or more languages, varieties of language, and can be also an exchange in style. Moreover, Borrowing is the process of importing linguistic items from one linguistic system into another, a process that occurs any time two cultures are in contact over a period of time. Furthermore, Pidginization is a simplification of code of language which has arisen as the result of contact between people of different languages usually formed a mixing of the languages. When pidgin develops to creole, it is described as creolization. Creole is a pidgin which is modified and appropriated in its structure and vocabulary.

This study aimed at investigating whether the implementation of hand puppet in role play gave a significant effect to the students’ speaking competency. Hand puppets are dolls that are used as media or tools used in learning activities. Types of puppets that are usually used are hand puppets made of pieces of cloth. Methods: The research design used a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-posttest design. The populations used in this study were children in B group class in Santo Rafael Singaraja. The speaking measurement used an observation sheet in which it guided by a task. The sample size used is 30 respondents who have been selected using a total sampling technique. This study used parametric statistics using Paired Sample T-test with a significant level of α = 0.05. Results: The results showed that the pre-test mean was 56.00, and the post-test mean was 68.33. The results of parametric statistical tests using the Paired Sample T-test showed pre and post results (0.000) <α (0.05), which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Conclusion: This shows that there is an influence of the role-play method by hand puppet media in speaking class of Santo Rafael Kindergarten Students.

In language learning, it is important for teachers to have in-depth consideration on the strategy of teaching vocabulary. It is advised to choose a strategy which brings lots of benefits for students’ vocabulary acquisition. The strategy not only should facilitate the students to achieve the learning objectives, but also provide them with enjoyable and meaningful activities. It must be able to challenge the students so that they can actively and creatively participate during vocabulary teaching learning process. When they are involved, they are receiving, understanding and using the material given. Those processes will effectively promote their comprehension and vocabulary development. The purpose of this paper is to explore three innovative strategies for teaching vocabulary: Flip-a-Chip, Word Ladders and The Ripple Effect.

The written text can not be separated from using prepositional phrase, because prepositional phrase makes a sentence complete grammatically. In this research, there was an aim that has to be achieved. Namely: to determine the structures of prepositional phrase. This research was descriptive qualitative-quantitative research. The data sources of this research were taken from phrases that have prepositional phrase in 50 articles of law. In this research, corpus linguistic was used as the method of collecting data. Corpus linguistic used an application in computer. It was AntConc3.2.4w2011. The results of the analysis were presented by using formal and informal technique. The structures of prepositional phrase found were 4 structures. They are prep + det + noun, prep + det + adj + noun, prep + noun, and prep + adj + noun. These structures were found based on some words as triggers in the software of corpus linguistics. Namely: down the, up the, around the, into the, with the, within the, through, in spite of, instead of, in the, at the and out of.
书面文本离不开介词短语的使用,因为介词短语使句子在语法上完整。在这项研究中,有一个必须达到的目标。即:确定介词短语的结构。本研究为描述性定性定量研究。本研究的数据来源于50条法律条文中带有介词短语的短语。本研究采用语料库语言学作为数据收集的方法。语料库语言学在计算机中的应用。它是AntConc3.2.4w2011。采用正式和非正式两种方法给出了分析结果。发现介词短语的结构有4种。它们是prep + det +名词,prep + det +形容词+名词,prep +名词和prep +形容词+名词。这些结构是根据语料库语言学软件中作为触发器的一些词发现的。即:down the, up the, around the, into the, with the, within the, through, in spite of, instead of, in the, at the and out of。

The British English and American English are most commonly used; which are usually referred as two ‘main’ accents for the English language. Both of them are having their own uniqueness and characteristics in terms of word choices. When the speaker utters the words in one particular accent, by some means the listener could recognise which English style is the speaker more familiar with. To obtain the data of which English style are the speaker more familiar with, a straightforward study was held. The respondents for this study are ten people who live in the city of Singaraja with various ages and social backgrounds. They are requested to determine which English words are more familiar for them by showing them a table of words list. Fine comprehension about English in cooperation with the vocabularies that the respondents have will lead them to English style that fits them in four English proficiencies

Vocabulary is one of the English elements besides grammar, spelling, and pronunciation supporting English language skill such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Vocabulary is the first element that should be master before the learners going to other element. When the learners have mastered vocabulary, they will be able to produce many sentences in spoken and written form easily. On the other hand, when they lack of vocabulary, they will find difficulty in deliver their thought, even their opinion to other people. One of the teaching strategies to enhance students’ vocabulary is using English Song. This paper aims at describing the use of English song in teaching English vocabulary for students. The method of this research was a qualitative research combination of seven several journals from abroad and within the country about teaching vocabulary with song. Although there are many reasons why songs can be considered a valuable teaching tool, there are some issues to consider.

This article describes the concept of language learning styles in the classroom and the characteristics of students for each of their learning styles in language learning. Where the purpose of this study is to describe their learning styles related to learning styles for language acquisition. There are 3 types of language learning styles described by Tekavcic and Dimovski namely the visual, auditory and touch functions of a person in processing information. The three main types of learning styles are not absolute, of course. Many students learn through various senses. Certain students may be as strong in three perceptual modalities, or in two perceptual modalities from any combination. The method of data collection in this study is observation, the results of this discussion are that we observed grade 9 students of Percut Sei Tuan Middle School very less on how to apply language learning styles they are in front of the class so that it impacts learning difficulties well.
