The purpose of the study. To assess the levels of situational and personal anxiety in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in conditions of comorbidity with arterial hypertension (AH). Materials and methods. The study included 92 male patients with COPD. Of these, 63 patients with COPD in combination with hypertension. The diagnosis of COPD verified and the severity assessed in accordance with the GOLD criteria. The Spielberger-Hanin scale used to assess the level of situational and personal anxiety. Results. It s found that men with COPD in conditions of comorbidity with hypertension are characterized by statistically significantly higher values of the average score of both situational and personal anxiety on the Spielberger-Hanin scale. In this group of examined patients, patients with indicators of situational and personal anxiety corresponding to a high level and less often to a low level of anxiety were significantly more common. Among men with COPD of the IV st., persons with high levels of situational and personal anxiety were significantly more common. Conclusion. The results of the study demonstrated a high level of anxiety disorders in COPD patients, especially in people with comorbidity with hypertension and a positive relationship between the level of anxiety and the severity of the disease.

The authors of the article consider integrative semantic mapping as an illustrative and schematic basis for the law students’ development of a professionally oriented English-language thesaurus of the topical field “Law”. The aim of the research is to study further development of professional and communicative English-language competence which allows ensuring the implementation of pragmatic and professional communicative tasks in simulated situations of entering into legal relationship by the students. Methodology. The methodological framework for the research is the cognitive and generalizing methods, such as the theoretical analysis of research works in linguodidactics, pedagogy, cognitive linguistics, and the prognostic methods. The research material was an educational and methodological complex on the discipline “Legal English”, used as part of the Bachelor’s degree program 40.03.01 “Jurisprudence”. Results. The paper analyzes an algorithm for the development of abilities and skills of linguo-cognitive processing of professionally significative highly legal English texts of a static nature (for intermediate and upper-intermediate students), and English-language videos of a dynamic nature of the genre “courtroom drama” (for advanced and proficient students) using integrative semantic maps. Analyzing their application features allows us to emphasize their main function, which consists in optimizing the development of information about the law enforcement and legal proceedings in English-speaking countries, necessary for the effective intercultural communication of future practitioners in various branches of law. Conclusion. Forming and developing the English-language thesaurus of a professional lawyer is one of important areas of modern linguodidactics. It has been proved that the optimization of this process has become possible thanks to the use of new learning technologies, in particular, integrative semantic mapping as a tool for verbalization of acquired knowledge, which allows consciously applying cognitively mastered information, competently verbalizing it in intercultural professional communication, preventing and eliminating possible communication failures.

Purpose. In this article, the similarities and differences of the value-semantic sphere of students of Russian universities are considered as a subject of research. Keeping in mind the regional specifics, it is assumed that the existing similarities in the value-semantic sphere of students of Russian universities in different regions will prevail over the differences. The study involved students of universities in Samara, Omsk, Vladikavkaz and Voronezh. Methodology. Standardized test methods and methods of mathematical statistics were used to collect and process empirical data. Results. The study revealed statistically significant differences in the degree of meaningfulness of life and the level of internality of students. The greatest discrepancy in the degree of importance was revealed regarding the values of health, material well-beingнаряду, creativity, family, career, service, glory and rest. At the same time, statistically significant differences in self-actualization and personality orientation were not found. The study participants from different cities showed mostly normal and inflated levels of self-esteem and self-acceptance, most of the students prefer to live in the present, not to postpone and not to plan for a long time ahead. There was also a similarity in the desire to adhere to certain principles, as opposed to showing flexibility and reactivity. Practical implications. The results of this study will be useful in organizing extracurricular educational work with students, as a basis for the formation and development of their moral self-awareness and subjectivity, as well as the development of educational motivation and professional identity.

Purpose. The manuscript is devoted to the burning issue of education internationalization in modern society. Having come to study in Russia, many international students face a number of difficulties concerning various aspects of their life activity. The authors aim to study international students’ opinion regarding their residence in the European North and their study at the Russian medical university. Methodology. Survey findings of 149 Indian students studying at the International Faculty of General Practitioners of the Northern State Medical University (NSMU), Arkhangelsk compose the research basis. Results. Main challenges encountered by international students in the conditions of the European North, their attitude to the organization and quality of the educational process in the university were revealed. Cold climate, language barrier, the lack of traditional foods and separation from family are believed to be the main factors that make it difficult for junior students to learn. Senior students express their disappointment at the lack of clinical practice due to the distance learning during the pandemic and different level of students and teachers’ language proficiency. In general, students speak positively about university educational process and are satisfied with Russian education quality. Practical implications. Research findings can be used to develop recommendations for improving the socio-pedagogical adaptation of international students in Russian universities.

Purpose. The article is devoted to various methods of informal assessment and their potential for developing students’ reflective skills. The authors analyze different theories and approaches to reflective learning in order to design tools for enhancing students’ reflective abilities. Methodology. The data obtained through the research are evaluated and interpreted on the basis of the descriptive approach. The authors also adopt the reflective-activity approach for designing a set of reflective statements. Results. The authors study the main features of informal assessment, compare and contrast them with the forms of formal assessment pointing out that new approaches to assessment such as Learning Oriented Assessment (LOA) should be adopted in order to promote learning, motivate students and encourage their autonomy. Special attention is given to feedback as an LOA component, which correlates with the concept of reflective learning. The authors analyze various theories of reflective learning and design a system of reflective statement, which could be used as a means of practical development of students’ reflective abilities. Practical implications. The results of the research can be applied in teaching practice of various disciplines at higher educational establishments.

Relevance. Leading domestic scientists who dealt with the problem of studying the intelligentsia note in their works that intellectuals are not born and it is not encoded in the genes. The values of the intelligentsia are formed and brought up in the course of a purposefully organized pedagogical process and psychological influence. The theoretical and informational basis of this process, as well as the main source, is social memory as a semantic accumulator. Social memory as a dynamic mental formation and as a social phenomenon has its own structure and carriers, as well as cultural and psychological transmission mechanisms. Materials and methods. Comprehensive knowledge of the concept and features of the functioning of the social memory of the military intelligentsia, as well as the mechanisms of its translation, was carried out based on systemic, axiological and subjective methodological approaches. The applied scientific methods were analysis and synthesis, analogy and comparison, abstraction and generalization. Results of the study. The key scientific results of the study are the accumulation of generalized ideas about the social memory of the domestic military intelligentsia and the psychological mechanisms of its transmission. The results of the study can be used to organize the pedagogical process in a military university to develop the intelligence of future officers.
