Second Life: A New Platform for Education 第二人生:一个新的教育平台

Second Life supports rich communication, virtual collaboration, and 3-D content creation. The Second Life synthetic world has great potential for teaching and learning. There are hundreds of universities all over the world pay attention to the engaging teaching and learning aids and effective research tools in Second Life. For faculty members to adopt Second Life and take advantage of innovative features in their classes, however, they must first get to know Second Life and become familiar with features that are relevant to their own teaching. This is not a trivial process for many university educators. This paper provide not only guide to getting start in Second Life, but also the quality of it. First it gives an overview of the Second Life for educational purpose. Then it discusses the method to use Second Life for education by an educational case. Finally, it describes the barriers probably encountered in the process of using Second Life.

Problems and strategies of Network Ethics of Contemporary College Students in China 当代中国大学生网络伦理问题及对策

With the rapid development of network, the problem of network ethics of contemporary college students has even been more prominent, which affects their health growth and proposes new challenges to higher education. This paper summarizes the performances of network ethics of college students, and analyzes the sources of them, and proposes corresponding strategies based on the present situation of higher education in China.

A Robust Method for Mobile Robot Tracking Object on Behavior-Based Robotics 基于行为机器人的移动机器人目标跟踪鲁棒方法

Introduce a robust and flexible mobile robot control system. Motion description language is brought in behavior-based robotics. The behavior-based robotics does well in controlling mobile robot. Using motion description language, not only the interactions between discrete and continuous dynamics existing in a robotics system can be described, but the complexity of steering a robot can also be measured quantitatively. In this paper, the problem of object-following by nonholonomic wheeled mobile robots is studied using this method, and a Matlab simulative results verify the validity of this method in the end.

Image Fusion by Incorporating Cycle Spinning with Wavelet Transform 结合循环纺丝和小波变换的图像融合

Cycle Spinning has been well recognized as an effective approach to mitigating the psendo-Gibbs phenomenon in image denoising, but its application in image fusion has seldom mentioned. In this paper, ire have attempted to incorporate Cycle Spinning with wavelet transform to improve image fusion. Our experiments show that this approach can mitigate the distortion caused by the lack of translation invariance in wavelet transform, and effectively preserve the details of images. Our experiments also show substantial PSNR advancement as well as obvious visual improvement in fused images.

Research and Application of Asynchronous Network Teaching Model Based on Distributed Cognition Theory 基于分布式认知理论的异步网络教学模式研究与应用

The distributed cognition emphasizes the distributed nature of cognitive phenomena across individuals, artefacts and internal and external representations in terms of a common language of 'representational states' and 'media'. And it is a new analysis unit including all things that participate in cognition. In this paper, there was a brief introduction to the concept and prominent features of distributed cognition firstly. Then, the computer English network teaching system model was constructed using distributed cognition and asynchronous network teaching theory: Finally from the viewpoint of Distributed Cognition the analysis of the Website' s structure and contents was made according to the computer English teaching system ,and made a brief introduction to its functional performance.

A New Concurrency Control Strategy for Collaborative Teaching and Learning 一种新的协同教与学并行控制策略

Concurrency control is one of the keys to maintain the consistency of models, graphics, tables and data for collaborative teaching and learning. This paper describes the background of the collaborative teaching and learning, presents a prototype system of concurrency control for the collaborative teaching and learning, analyzes the factors influencing the transaction priority, utilizes the Fuzzy Mathematics to priority assignment of transactions, develops an object-oriented priority-based optimistic concurrency control protocol (OPOCCP) in real-time replication structure. The main advantages of our approach are the simplicity of operation, good responsiveness, and no dead-lock The algorithm is application independent, which makes it suitable for general collaborative applications. Finally, an example was taken for expressing the application of the protocol in the collaborative teaching and learning.

There are much discussion and many different views for the application of multi-media technology in education. The background and development trend of multi-media education are introduced in this paper. The advantages and shortcomings of the educational model are analyzed. The joint point to traditional educational model is presented. Through practicing the evolution of the educational method, educational results are improved greatly and students' interests to studying are added.

An optimal course system is introduced by using multimedia technology in this paper, which is composed with visual teaching, CAI software, network teaching and practical teaching.
