The purpose of this study is to analyzedirective illocutionary act, spesifically about how action can occur only with the use of language spoken by the main characters in The End of the F***ing World series.Theory by Halliday and Hasan (1985) was applied to analyse the situational context which refers to the place, topic of the conversation, participants’s relationship, and how language is used in the conversation. There is also theory by Yule (1996) about the explanation of action that performed just by utterance called directive illocutionary act and divided into command, order, request and suggestion. This study used a descriptive qualitative method... The results found all types of directive illocutionary act used by the main characters in their daily life to make someone do something, where the success rate in using directive illocutionary act is related with the situational context.. This study used formal and informal methods in its presentation.

In this study, we analyzed expressive illocutionary acts in Manchester United Instagram comments, drawing on Searle's framework. Public figures and sports clubs, including Manchester United, leverage Instagram for personal branding and fan interaction. Our research focused on three distinct posts, revealing a spectrum of speech acts. The analysis identified a prevalence of thanking (14%), complaining (26%), complimenting (23%), wishing (20%), and greeting (17%). Notably, complaints stood out, indicating follower dissatisfaction with recent club developments. This underscores the significance of social media platforms in fostering user engagement and communication. The study sheds light on how fans express themselves in written form, contributing to the broader understanding of online interactions and the dynamics of fan-club relationships. As Instagram continues to play a pivotal role in communication, our findings offer insights into the diverse ways users engage with a prominent sports brand like Manchester United on this platform.

The study focused on analysing the types of derivational suffixes. The data was taken from The Dry by Jane Harper and analysed by using the theory from Plag (2003) and Carstairs-Mccarthy (2002). The data collected was analysed by using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study were explained using both formal and informal methods. The findings showed that there are four types of derivational suffixes found in this novel, such as nominal suffixes, verbal suffixes, adjectival suffixes, and adverbial suffixes. The total of the data found in this study is 194 data which consist of nominal suffixes with 66 data. The second, in verbal suffixes with 1 data. Next, adjectival suffixes with 69 data. The last suffix is adverbial suffixes with 58 data.

Identification of types and forms of archaeological statues can be found by the iconographic characteristics that define the identity of the figures being portrayed. Karangasem, Bali is one area that has remains of statues with intriguing iconographic characteristics, that is, the portrayal of figures using turban as a head covering. This kind of statue portrayal is rarely found in Bali and in Indonesia. The existence of several statues with turban indicates a certain concept regarding the characterization of the turbaned figure. This research was aimed to analyze the statues distributed in several temples in Karangasem, Bali. The method used consists of collecting data and analyzing data. The statues are iconographically analyzed. Analysis is conducted in two ways, which are morphology and technology. The results showed that the statues are the embodiment of religious figures that prove the existence of religious figures in ancient Balinese society.

This article is intended to analyze the syntactical behavior of adjectives in Balinese language at phrases and clauses level. The data were collected using the observation method and note-taking and recording techniques. The data were analyzed using the connecting and comparing techniques, and distributional method with deletion, transformational, and insertion techniques. The results of data analysis were formally and informally presented using both inductive and deductive techniques. The results of the study show that in the endocentric and attributive phrases, the adjectives in Balinese language function as the central and attributive elements, that in the endocentric and coordinative phrases, they function as the central element only, and that in the exocentric phrase, they function as the axis. The meaning of the phrase with an adjective + adjective construction refers to equivalence and opposition. In the clausal level, adjectives in Balinese language function as predicate, complement, and adverb.

This research discusses a collection of short stories entitled Tak Ada Asu di Antara Kita by Joko Pinurbo. This anthology contains fifteen short stories, five of which have the same conflict, namely the conflict between characters who work as authors. The five short stories are "Ayat Kopi", "Guru Bahagia", "Duel", "Korban Hoaks" and "Cakrawala". This research aims to answer the problem formulation, namely how social conflict is depicted in the short story collection Tak Ada Asu di Antara Kita by Joko Pinurbo. The five short stories were analyzed using social conflict theory. Analysis using social conflict theory aims to determine the conflict contained in this short story. The conflict found is a conflict between the author's characters. The analysis of social conflict in this short story is divided into three, namely forms of conflict, causes of conflict, and conflict resolution. The form of conflict is a description of the conflict that occurs in the author's characters. The cause of conflict is the thing that starts the conflict. Conflict resolution is the process or thing that causes the conflict to end.

This study examines parent-teen relationships in 'Dead Poets Society' and 'Negeri 5 Menara,' two influential movies from Western and Indonesian cultures. The research investigates how diverse social and cultural norms influence family values and the resolution of common issues. It specifically focuses on the psychological consequences of repressive and authoritarian parenting styles on central characters Neil and Alif, using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory as a framework. Employing descriptive qualitative analysis and extensive literature and film documentation, the study uncovers distinct anxiety manifestations in Neil (fear) and Alif (depression). Additionally, it highlights the role of unconscious defense mechanisms in dealing with anxiety. This research underscores the universal impact of authoritarian parenting on adolescent mental health and the unique coping mechanisms individuals develop when faced with such stressors.

"Reporting verbs indicate a conversation (Romli, 2018:35). In news texts, reporting verbs are used intensively to provide information. This research focuses on the identification of variations, frequencies, and the analysis of meaning components as proposed by Nida (1975) regarding the usage of reporting verbs in online news corpus. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a lexical semantic approach. Data were obtained from news texts published by Kompas.com and Detik.com during August 8-10, 2023, with the theme 'Ferdy Sambo's Death Sentence Turned into Life Imprisonment.' Based on the research findings, 17 variations of reporting verbs were found in the news corpus, with the verb 'mengatakan' (to say) being the most dominant with a frequency of 83 occurrences. Meanwhile, based on the analysis of meaning components for the verbs 'mengatakan'(to say), 'menyatakan' (to state), 'menjelaskan' (to explain), and 'menyebut' (to mention), differences in usage were found through the differentiation of the meaning components of each reporting verb. This research is expected to contribute by highlighting the differences in meaning among synonymous verbs to demonstrate the diversity of the Indonesian language vocabulary.
