Abstract. Learners’ perception plays an important role in evaluating the teaching and learning process and has an impact to the teacher’s performance during the teaching and learning process. Applying descriptive qualitative method with case study design, this study highlighted the learners’ perceptions and their preference of oral corrective feedback utilized by the teachers during the teaching and learning process. By using purposive sampling, this research involved one teacher and two learners as research participants at an English course called Amsterdam Institute located in Makassar. The data, collected through semi-structured interview and observation, resulted that the learners found themselves facilitated in responding the teacher’s utterances since the teacher’s oral corrective feedback were helpful to lead the learners’ accuracy or just to help them acknowledge their errors in terms of grammar, lexis, the use of L1, and particularly in phonology (pronunciation). Furthermore, inconsistencies between the students’ preference and the teacher’s feedback use in terms of the time to provide oral corrective feedback are identified. Students preferred being given time to work out their error, while teacher mostly gave feedback directly. Thus, it can be concluded that giving more time for students to provide self-repair can be a way for students to make sense of error they committed. The results further highlight a significant impact for teachers’ beliefs on their corrective feedback practices, especially for those teaching using a tailor-made system. Abstract. Culture-specific item or CSIs are languages unique features which differentiate a language to another. The Javanese language and English are two languages which has a big gap in the lexical, social, and cultural. In producing the translation from Javanese to English and vice versa, the translator must consider a lot of things mainly the CSIs feature of the text to avoid a misleading information. The equivalence of SL to TL must met so that the audience get the exact information that the writer in SL wants to employ. This study aims to analyze the cultural loss and gain in some words related to the words in ST and TT in order to see the significance of those words to each of the language. The language used in this movie is Javanese language with English subtitle. This study applied descriptive qualitative research methodology which does not use any numerical data counting. Documentation, transcription, and note-taking are used to collect the data. This study used Aixelá’s term of CSIs and applied Newmark’s categorization of CSIs. Five categories are found in the data of the study which has ecology with geographical features, material cultures with time, social culture with addressing term, social norm, social activity and religious term, organization with political term, and gestures and habit with interjection and politeness manner. The loss and gain in the translation is bound to happen, to cope with the loss and gain, reduction, addition, generalization, compensation, and deletion is used by the translator. Abstract. Genre as a spectrum of textual manifestation signals its textual presence through linguistic devices. In the tourism text, the signal of its presence is marked by a transition from one movement or organizing activity to another. Translating genre is central to the work of translators. The fact is the translation process often does not take one line and translators often overlook the role of contextual specifications. This difficulty is also compounded by the fact that the readers’ understanding when reading the translation text often has difficulty in obtaining the meaning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify and explain the translation of an Indonesian-English tourism text genre focusing on message segments to determine the moves and rhetorical functions of the discourse structure and how they may contribute to the readability of the text. The study was descriptive qualitative research. The data was extracted from a variety of documents related to Madura tourism. The data collection technique was document review and the data analysis was interactive model analysis. The results of the study showed that the message segments of the Indonesian-English tourism text translation were constructed with three moves (explanation, illustration, and argumentation) and three rhetorical functions (description, definition, and cause and effect). These moves and rhetorical functions in the translation of the Indonesian-English tourism text genre contributed to the results of the readability of the translated texts, i.e., they were fully comprehensible without unnecessary effort in the part of the readers. The findings suggest that genre analysis of the message segments of the tourism text translation can be a good alternative for communicating the intentions of the source texts. Thus, this can be a good practice for translators to consider when translating texts and other related texts as well.Keywords: Genre, Message Segment, Translation, Tourism

Abstract. This study intends to examine the role of Arabic in comprehending Islamic law. This research was conducted to provide an overview of Arabic for observers of Islamic law, focusing on the elements of nahwu, shorof, balaghah, and mantiq. This is because the Quran and Hadith, the primary sources of Islamic law, are written in Arabic. This research was a literature study using the descriptive analysis method to examine the importance of mastering Arabic in the study of Islamic law. Sources of research data were obtained from various references that include books, journals, and other references related to the research theme. The result showed that Arabic is essential for comprehending the Al-Quran and Hadith as the primary sources of Islamic law. The Arabic language used by the Qur'an was much higher than the Arabic language that developed in the community. In Arab society during the Jahiliyah era, the Arabic language had reached its qimmah (glory) and was mature in terms of its grammar, vocabularies, uslub (language style), and balaghah. Al-Qur'an and hadith cannot be separated from Arabic, hence the accuracy with which both are read and comprehended will determine whether or not Islamic law is established.Keywords: Arabic, Al-Qur’an, Islamic Law, Spirit of Islam

This research aims to analyze the translation procedures of economic articles from English into Indonesian by the fourth semester students 2020/2021 in STBA JIA. The data will be analyzed by the theory of Vinay and Darbelnet about translation procedures. This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis, which gives more attention on how deep the translation’s knowledge towards the concept which was being learned and how the theory is used to translate the article. The data of the research is the final test of translation class which economic articles become the data source that are translated by the student. The result of the analysis shows that some procedures are used by students to get the acceptable meaning in Indonesian language. From the analysis, it is found that basically all the students gradually can translate well after having many translation practices.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memahami proses interaksi antara Morfologi-Sintaksis dalam konstruksi kalimat sederhana Bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan analisis isi (Content Analysis). Penulis mengumpulkan data tentang kalimat sederhana Bahasa Inggris dalam cerita pendek The Case of the Lonely Lady karya John Milne. Teknik yang dilakukan untuk mendapatkan data adalah sebagai berikut: (1) mencatat data pada ranah morfologi tentang leksikal morfem (full words), Open word class, regular verbs, inflectional suffixes (2) mencari proses fungsi struktur kalimat pada ranah sintaksis, peneliti menganalisis interaksi morfologi-sintaksis pada kalimat sederhana yang ditemukan dalam pembentukan: (1) predikat (VP) (2) Kind of tenses (3) kind of lexical verbs (4) constituent (5) category (6) and function of the sentence structures, (3) membuktikan data yang telah ditemukan dan menjelaskannya berdasarkan ilmu interaksi Morfologi-Sintaksis yang diambil dari teori Katamba (2006). Dari analisis tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa telah terjadi interaksi antara Morfologi-Sintaksis dalam konstruksi kalimat sederhana Bahasa Inggris . Penelitian ini dilakukan agar kita memahami proses interaksi yang terjadi pada ranah Morfologi dan Sintaksis dalam konstruksi kalimat sederhana.
本研究的目的是了解和理解英语句子结构中句法相互作用的过程。本研究采用的方法是描述性定性方法,具有内容分析方法。作者在约翰·米尔恩的《孤独女士的案例》中收集了简单英语句子的数据。获取数据的方法如下:(1)记录词素语态域的数据,Open word class, regular verbs, inflexment suffixes(2)查找句法域中句子结构的功能过程,研究人员分析形成中发现的简单句中的句法相互作用:(1)谓语动词(3)词汇(4)conxical verbs (5) constitution(6)及其功能证明了发现的数据,并根据从Katamba理论(2006)中提取的形态与句法相互作用的科学进行解释。从这个分析可以得出结论,在简单的英语句子结构中,形态句法之间存在着相互作用。本研究的目的是了解形态域和句法结构中发生的相互作用过程。

Abstract. The student’s communication in writing has a different style. It is interesting to be studied since it relate with literacy practice especially in using technology. Thus, this current study was conducted to explore the figurative language and discourse goals made by students in their Instagram posts. This study also describes the student’s strategy in using figurative language to create an Instagram post as a literacy practice. The study use Qualitative method with documentation and interview as the instruments. Seventy-one student’s Instagram posts were analyzed, and 5 of the students who posted them interviewed. The finding is interesting because only little student who used figurative language and has a clearly discourse goal in their Instagram post. The data shows that only 16,9% of students used figurative language in Instagram posts. Only found 3 figurative languages are used by the student, 7 sentences classified as Metaphor, 3 sentences are Simile and Personification. Metaphor is one of the types of figurative language mostly found in the Instagram post. The result also shows that there are 5 discourse goals found in this study, they are being humorous, protecting the self, comparing similarities, showing positive emotion, and guiding another action. Comparing similarities is the majority of discourse goals of students in their Instagram posts. Although student has limited writing style in using figurative language for creating an Instagram post, the student can create an appropriate picture and caption to share the idea to communicate using Instagram.Keywords: Figurative Language, Discourse Goal, Literacy Practice

Masih rendahnya kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa Jepang mahasiswa semester 4 Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang FKIP UHAMKA serta adanya peralihan kegiatan pembelajaran pada masa menuju endemi COVID-19 yang sebelumnya dilakukan secara daring dan kini sudah mulai diberlakukannya belajar secara langsung tatap muka maka pendidik harus menciptakan pembelajaran yang kreatif. Salah satunya dengan mencoba menerapkan metode blended learning tipe station rotation. Untuk itu, tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa Jepang menggunakan penerapan model blended learning tipe station rotation pada mahasiswa semester 4 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang, FKIP UHAMKA. Penelitian menggunakan desain penelitian One Group Pre-test Post-test Design, dengan menggunakan metode Quasi Experimental. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan secara tes (pre test dan post test) dan kuesioner. Pengukuran valid dan reliabel pada pre test dan post test dilakukan dengan analisis uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas oleh validator. Pada teknik analisis data menggunakan tahap uji normalitas, kemudian pengujian hipotesis berupa uji t (Paired Simple t test) menggunakan SPSS 26. Sedangkan analisis data pada kuesioner menggunakan skala likert. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan pada data penelitian, hasil nilai pre test memperoleh rata-rata (mean) hasil belajar sebesar 51,13 sedangkan pada nilai post test memperoleh nilai mean sebesar 74,81. Hasil pada perhitungan uji Paired Simpel t test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 tersebut diketahui nilai Sig (2-tailed) adalah sebesar 0,001 < 0,05 dapat disimpulkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Hasil dari penelitian menyatakan bahwa model blended learning tipe station rotation dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis kalimat bahasa Jepang. Sedangkan pada data kuisioner, hasil analisis data kuesioner menyatakan bahwa semua butir pertanyaan valid dan penerapan blended learning tipe station rotation menarik.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Kembara Rindu karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dengan cara mendeskripsikan seluruh isi novel, menandai nilai pendidikan karakter, menginterpretasi, dan membuat kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data dengan memberchek dan validitas pakar. Dari hasil penelitian, terdapat 5 jenis nilai pendidikan karakter dan yang dominan digunakan dalam novel Kembara Rindu karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy adalah nilai pendidikan karakter yang berhubungan dengan diri sendiri sebanyak 52,47 %, selanjutnya nilai pendidikan karakter yang berhubungan dengan hubungan sesama makhluk sebanyak 25,31 %, kemudian nilai pendidikan karakter yang berhubungan dengan Tuhan Yang Maha Esa (religius) 20,37 %, dan nilai pendidikan karakter yang berhubungan dengan kebangsaan sebanyak 1,23 %, dan terakhir nilai pendidikan karakter yang berhubungan dengan lingkungan sebanyak 0,62 %. Nilai pendidikan karakter yang ditunjukkan dalam novel ini lebik banyak tentang bagaimana hubungan sesama makhluk. Oleh karena itu, dari hasil penelitian ini yang harus diperhatikan bagaimana seharusnya nilai pendidikan karakter diimplementasikan di sekolah.
