Dynamic changes in international relations as well as political, economic and social conditions make it necessary to study the behavior of inhabitants of border regions. The article aims to present non-economic determinants of the behavior of the inhabitants of the Kaliningrad Oblast on the Polish border market. The article describes the specificity of the market behavior of Russians, the causes and effects of changes in these behaviors. Selected political and economic, socio-cultural and psychological factors as well as situational factors such as local border traffic are described. The analysis of bibliographic materials was used to achieve the goal. The behavior of Russians is influenced by the decisions of the authorities and the social, emotional and existential values created in l, but geopolitical factors seem to take precedence over socio-cultural and psychological factors.

The article belongs to the series of publications devoted to the investigation of fundamental human emotions representated in Ukrainian phrasal verbs. The article examines the psychophysiological patterns of emotions of shame and guilt in Ukrainian phraseology. The subject of the article includes denotation phrases of shame and guilt in the Ukrainian language. A parametric analysis of the semantic structure of the phrase is used as the main method. In Ukrainian phraseology, the studies of the pantomimic expressions of shame and guilt are consistent with cross-cultural explorations and descriptions of fundamental human emotions actualized in kinesthetic phrases. Vegetative body reactions to shame are represented by heat and redness. The eyes, face and body are the main non-verbal indicators of shame and guilt. However, the loci of shame are the soul and the heart. In the Ukrainian culture, there is a connection between shame and public opinion and reputation. Shame and guilt threaten with a potential loss of reputation. The emotion of guilt is also predicated by the intention to ‘scapegoating’ and marked by negative concepts (swamp, dirt, mud, sludge).

The paper explores the relationships between sport and politics in the USRR in the interwar period. The aim of the paper is to show how ideology and propaganda were implemented in the Moscow newspaper „Trybuna Radziecka”. The article is divided into two parts. The first part describes how communists, through sports, exerted influence on Soviet people to encourage them to assume a desired attitude. In the second part sport vocabulary found in „Trybuna Radziecka” are presented (eg., the names of athletes, sports disciplines). Almost items are borrowed from the Russian language. Our research shows how citizens in the USRR were indoctrinated by the press in the interwar period, also in the field of sport.

The Polish-Soviet War, which took place between 1919 and 1920, remains one of the most dramatic, yet also one of the brightest pages in the history of the Polish military. Not only did the Polish army achieve a spectacular victory that ensured Poland’s sovereignty and unrestrained development, but also, according to many historians and politicians, saved Europe from the flood of communism. Apart from the famous Battle of Warsaw, the warfare that lasted from February 1919 to October 1920 included the Kiev Offensive, the Battle of Komarów and the Battle of the Niemen River. The war with the Bolshevists was not just a conflict over the borders, but also concerned the preservation of national sovereignty, threatened by the Bolshevists' attempts to spread the communist revolution throughout Europe. The intention of the Polish side, on the other hand, was to separate the nations occupying the regions to the west and south of Russia and to connect them with Poland through close federal ties. The fate of the war was finally decided in August 1920 at the gates of Warsaw. The Polish Army, following the operational plans of the High Command approved by Józef Piłsudski, the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, pushed the Red Army east past the Neman River line with a surprising counter-attack. This battle saved Poland's independence and forced the Bolshevists to cancel their plans to spread the communist revolution to the countries of Central and Western Europe.

The article considers issue of the connections between Teodor Parnicki, the Polish author of historical novels, and Russia. His attitude has its origins in biographical experiences. Knowledge of Russian culture is evident especially in the early work of Parnicki, and above all – in literary criticism of the interwar period. Careful reading shows that the sketches and reviews are a conservative critical project, the subject of which is Soviet social and cultural policy and communism in general. This article also complements the current state of research (who did not address this issue), while being a contribution to further research.

The effect of rapid socio-economic development in Europe in the 19th century was, among others the creation of newspapers targeted at specific groups of recipients, including the boulevard press, addressed to the less affluent part of society. One of them was the “Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny” founded in 1910 in Kraków. Although these types of magazines were not highly valued on the press market, their volume, and especially their big edition, incline to a closer look at the content presented in them. Even a cursory reading of individual issues of the newspaper leads to the conclusion that “Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny” is an interesting source of information about the then reality. This is particularly evident during the Balkan wars, when materials on diplomatic activities were published very often and occupied a leading place before scandals, rumors and criminal reports.

In the conditions of a rule-of-law state, the Constitution is the main reference point of its legal system, while in the realities of modern society living in a state governed by the rule of law, it may also have significant symbolic functions. The new wording of Article 68 of the Russian Constitution, proposed in the law of 2020 on the amendment to the Constitution, defines the state language – Russian – as "the language of the state-forming nation belonging to the multinational union of equal nations of the Russian Federation". In this article, this term is analyzed as evidence of the strategy to impose mythological functions on the legislative text. In case of the concept of "Russian language", this strategy manifested itself already in 2005 in the federal law on the State language, which established the status of the Russian language as a tool to "strengthen inter-ethnic relations in a unified multi-ethnic State". The law on the amendment of the Russian Constitution goes beyond the very introduction of mythological components into the legal text and presents a strategy to legitimize mythology through an act of general vote.

The author considers the problem of conjunctive use of disjunctive conjunctions in the perspective of functional grammar. In the first part of the article, the author verifies the logical approach to conjunctions, especially disjunctive conjunctions. The linguistic meaning of a conjunction is defined as information on the credibility or applicability of a (semantically) compound sentence under condition [10, 01], which means an alternative participation of referents in the described situation. In the following chapters, the author analyzes several language facts, namely sentences that contain a disjunctive relationship and which nevertheless express the general meaning of conjunction. The author explains these phenomena by the fact that in such sentences there are the types of configurations of conjunction with the exponents of other semantic categories: quantification and modality.

The paper deals with two poems: “Ты поскачешь во мраке…” by Joseph Brodsky, and “Я буду скакать по следам задремавшей отчизны…” by Nikolay Rubtsov. Analyzing some features of these poems and comparing similarities in both poets’ biographies, the author states the significant difference between them. Rubtsov, in his opinion, has an identity typical for pre-modern subjectivity. It is conventional, stereotypical, and conservative, full of faith in idealized old Russian values. Brodsky’s self-defining is in this aspect close to late modernity. It is liquid, all the time in movement, never convinced about self-identity.

The subject of this article is the history of the Kossakowski counts representation on the Lachowicze estate. The entailment functioning dates from 1858 to its abolition by the last representat in 1923/24 or in 1939, when the Second Republic of Poland government introduced the act of all family representation abolition. Until now, there were no documents confirming the actual existence of the Kossakowski representation and all references to this subject were reproduced from 19th century armorials. Analysis of the preserved source material has made it clear that Kossakowski family efforts to secure their property were successful and in 1882 they received approval in the Russian Empire.
