Vipul Murarka, Executive Director of Tropical Biotechnology Ltd. (TBL), was perplexed after looking at the erratic sales of dehumidifiers over the past 3 years since he started in June 2016. Although the number of goods sold was growing until 2019, which gave a marginal increase in revenue earned, the top line was increasing at a decreasing rate, with 10% in the first year, 8% in the second year and 7% in the third year. He could not understand the reasons for these inconsistent sales despite offering quality solutions and having many satisfied clients in the past. Given the torrential rains throughout the year in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar, a dehumidifier was an essential product for factories, yet sales were not picking up as anticipated. Dehumidifiers as an industrial product aided many manufacturing units, as they helped in controlling moisture by extracting water from the air, thus reducing humidity and preventing the growth of mildew. There were myriad manufacturing companies in Yangon because of the availability of cheap labour, yet sales for certain months were flat, with not even one sales call funnelling to final action. These lull periods made Vipul anxious and forced him to think if he had entered the wrong industry. He even thought if the first-mover advantage turned into a disadvantage for him. The initial reason he speculated about this sales barrier was the price, as it was a high-investment product for industrial buyers. However, he also posited to himself that he might not have been able to position the advantages of the product aptly in the minds of the potential buyers. Unable to find a definitive reason for the sales barriers of the dehumidifiers, he approached his friend, Myint Than, an independent consultant and visiting faculty at an MBA institute where he taught sales and marketing strategy courses. Vipul and Myint had to find the reason for the barrier to the dehumidifier sales and eventually make a strategy to overcome these barriers for future growth before deciding the sales target for the year 2020.

The stock prices are quick to respond to announcements of union budgets for structural reforms. The paper tests the effects of union budget announcement on stock prices by applying event study methodology. The reactions are tested using market model, Abnormal Returns (AR), Average Abnormal Returns (AAR) and Cumulative Average Abnormal Returns (CAAR) for 15 days prior and 15 days after the event date. Result show that CAARs are significant for most of the days in the event window. The findings support the prediction that budget announcement contains information value and therefore traders can earn abnormal gain on budget announcements in Indian capital market.

Tribal women play the significance role in every society of that particular composition of population. It amount to nearly half of the population and therefore this significant half of its population it is inherently important to ensure their equal presence and participation in the larger process of decision local governance. Panchayati Raj institution as integral, both to democratic self-governance and democratic decentralisation in grass root level in India. Women have always and almost everywhere been on the fringe of political and social power. Women’s leadership has to emerge from the grassroots to gain confidence and to make a claim at higher levels. But it is being said that “Women have come into politics as proxy candidates and continue to be manipulated by powerful patriarchal elites. The barriers of gender division of labour, women’s low levels of mobility, seclusion, lack of information and negotiation skills, internalised low self image, stereotypes and lack of confidence continue in some degree. Generally Panchayats and the higher level political institutions have the same ideology for women’s place there - no women or token women though giving absolute formal equality with one person, one vote and no formal barriers to their entry. For the first time the constitutional amendment mandated one-third minimum reservation for women in the Panchayats. The constitutional amendment has made the composition of Panchayats wider within a broad framework of this amendment, but the social relations of gender are intertwined with local social, economic and political institutions. Decentralisation promotes participation and improves the controlling function held by the lower levels of the political system and hence could be a good policy option for enhancing women’s political participation.

The goal of this research is to investigate the various developments of CSR in India and to investigate the implementation of current CSR practises in India. This paper investigates how India's 30 largest corporations view, conduct, and identify the key CSR practises and financial performance. As stated in clause 135, there is still room for giving reasons if a company does not spend the required amount of CSR. Most companies can benefit from this, and they may also use CSR as a tool to increase their profit volume. As a result, it must be investigated. The current paper examines the practices and impact of CSR on profit given by companies in their annual reports & to meet the minimum ground of CSR expenditure. It is also intended to investigate the before-and-after effect of CSR provisions on sales volume, and in this respect, first correlation was sought and then correlation was used. For this study, a sample of 30 mid-cap companies listed on the NSE that are involved in the oil and gas, banking/finance, and automobile industries was chosen. The research is analytical in nature and is based on secondary data. Correlation and regression technique had been used to examine the relationship of CSR spent and the financial parameters like ROE and ROA.

The significance of learner-centric and autonomous learning strategies has become important in outcome-based education philosophy. Autonomous learning in higher education is being implemented in a fragmented manner in many institutions by faculty members that are trained and untrained in designing and implementing autonomous learning. The provisions of NEP 2020 have encouraged academic leaders and faculty members to design and implement autonomous learning in higher and technical education for developing a wide spectrum of skills/competencies in students. The aim of the research was to ascertain the conditions under which autonomous learning takes place effectively and strategies to be used to promote autonomous learning in higher and technical education institutions. A framework for designing the strategies to promote autonomous learning is developed that is further detailed with specific strategies. 14 conditions and 45 strategies are ascertained to cultivate autonomous learning in a higher and technical education institution. Suggestions for effective implementation of the strategies are noted and further scope of work is stated.

Recent decades have witnessed the sudden shift by majority of the people towards the use of refined oil for both domestic and commercial purposes to prevent them from heart attack, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. However, cold pressed oil consumption is also attractive nowadays owing to its health benefits. This research study is significant to understand the customer preferences towards edible oil such as refined oil and cold-pressed oil. The study aimed to analyse the factors affecting the purchase decision of the customers towards refined oil and cold-pressed oil. The results revealed that the purchase of refined oil or cold-pressed oil depends upon the consumers’ interests, attitudes and their willingness to buy. The consumers of refined oil, cold-pressed oil or both preferred it for its quality and health benefits. There was a drastic shift from refined oil to cold-pressed oil, owing to health factors, advice from their doctors and peer influence. A majority of the respondents preferred using cold-pressed oil because they were influenced by their ancestors, advertisements and recommendations by friends and relatives. There was no significant difference in the preference of consumers towards the price factors of refined oil, cold-pressed oil or both. The customers of cold-pressed oil show greater preference towards it and like to continue the same as they are conscious about the health benefits. However, the packaging of the cooking oil should be taken care.

The accreditation of diploma engineering programmes is almost negligible in the country. It is a matter of great concern. The researchers conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study to design strategies to encourage polytechnic colleges to improve the quality of diploma engineering programmes and apply for obtaining accreditation in the next two years. A brief review of the literature revealed that studies are not available on polytechnic education and whatever is available can not be replicated in changing scenarios of polytechnic in the context of the national education policy 2020. Researchers designed instrument used to know the views of officials and faculty members on strategies at the state, polytechnic, and faculty members levels. The researchers received 525 responses to the research questions that were classified, analyzed, and interpreted to articulate the strategies at three levels. The responses indicate that there is a need to assuring the quality of education at the state, polytechnic, and faculty members levels, innovate it and sustain it in the context of developments taking place in the industry and technical education. Limitations of the study and areas for study are suggested.
