The purpose of this article is to address the discussion on L1 and L2 acquisition, from the theoretical principles of Diasystematic Construction Grammar (GCxD) (HÖDER, 2018) and of Usage-Based Construction Grammar (UBCG) (GOLDBERG, 2019): both models of constructionist assumptions about the processing and psychological reality of L1 and L2 linguistic knowledge. For this discussion, we have divided the text into two parts. In the first, we review some principles of the models. In the second, we illustrate theoretical issues, based on data and results from research focused on the grammatical knowledge of non-native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese (L2PB) and English (L2E). Data instantiate the patterns (i) [(ESP) N] the nominal specification construction in the context of L2PB acquisition and (ii) [(X) VSN] the focalization through postponed subject construction in the context of L2E acquisition.

In this paper we analyze the semantic-syntactic behavior of a group of bare singular count nominals in Rioplatense Spanish. In particular, we study bare nominals that appear in argument position, as complements of the directional preposition a (to) (Ana va a consultorio/ ‘Ana goes to the clinic’), of the locative preposition en (in) (Los Rev. Estud. Ling., Belo Horizonte, v. 30, n. 1, p. 239-268, 2022 240 jugadores están en cancha/ ‘The players are in the football field’) and of transitive verbs (Juan mira tele/ ‘Juan watches tv’). First, some diagnostics are provided in order to show that these bare nominals behave like typical weak definites, as has been originally described in Carlson and Sussman (2005). After describing their distribution, we explore their semantic and syntactic nature using a non-pseudoincorporationist proposal –inspired by de de Swart (2015)–. In a nutshell, our analysis argues that these bare nominals project a defective syntactic structure, without overt phonological realization of D and without NumP. Furthermore, we assume that the determiner preserves its uniqueness and familiarity and we postulate that, in combination with the noun, it denotes an abstract entity or kind, and not a particular object (AGUILARGUEVARA, 2014). Finally, this study aims to contribute to the hypothesis that weak definiteness is a crosslinguistic phenomenon, that comprises both overt NPs and DPs.
特别是,我们研究了出现在论点位置的裸名词,作为方位介词a(to)(Ana va a consultorio/“Ana to the clinic”)和方位介词en(In)(Los Rev。Estud。

The selection and the recognition of the first vocalizations produced by a child as linguistic data is an arduous topic for research that studies longitudinal children’s corpora. Which children’s sounds should integrate the corpus? Selection, recognition, registration, contextual annotations, and discursive interpretation are subtle choices that are subject to questioning and maturation. This brief essay aims to illustrate the theme with an analysis of examples from the corpus compiled by the group Corpus Infantil Longitudinal (CIL) in according to an interactionist view. The interpretations partially use the list of categories of the Inventory of Communicative Acts-Abridged (1994)

This article examines two types of data organization criteria for intersubject comparison in phonological acquisition: Age Group, which is widely applied for intersubject comparison, and Performance in the Task, which compares subjetcs ́ performance taking into account the percentage of answers in accordance with the adult production. We argue that a criterion for performance must take into account the performance in the phenomena analysed, since the linguistic development is not homogeneous. We compare here the results obtained by applying both criteria in the analysis of the voicing of alveolar fricatives in coda and the syllabic attack branching. It is shown that Performance in the Task promotes greater consistency than the Age Group in the organization of groups, both neutralizing individual differences observed in children’s linguistic development, and revealing congruent patterns in the use of repair strategies. With these results, we suggest that Performance in the Task is more effective than chronological measures for the organization, analysis and interpretation of data in language acquisition studies.

Santiagueño Quichua (Quechua, South America) exhibits multiple periphrastic constructions with auxiliar verbs. Many of these constructions are Rev. Estud. Ling., Belo Horizonte, v. 30, n. 1, p. 319-350, 2022 320 in synchronic variation (phonological, morphological and syntactic) as there is a coexistence of new and old forms. This was observed in primary and secondary sources and during elicitation. As the grammaticalization and diachronic construction grammar are complementary approaches, this work outlines a hypothesis of linguistic change for the periphrastic constructions of Quichua Santiagueño based on a grammaticalization path that responds to the periphrasis-fusion-erosion cycle and the extension of a pattern originated in the converb construction. The recognition of this constructions and similar changes in other branches of the linguistic family allows us to contribute to the existing observations on the position of Quichua Santiagueño among other Quechua languages.

Nowadays translators have countless resources to assist them in their task. Knowing how to use these resources is part of the instrumental sub-competence (HURTADO ALBIR, 2005, 2015a, 2015b; PACTE, 2009). Undoubtedly, it is necessary to have translation competence to surf amid a barrage of material, much of which is made available in electronic format. But if, on the one hand, translators need to know how to use the resources offered to them, on the other, it is necessary to develop material that is practical, effective and reliable. The lack of reference material to deal with the Rev. Estud. Ling., Belo Horizonte, v. 30, n. 1, p. 269-292, 2022 270 translation of medical abbreviations was the basis for the creation of a (Portuguese/ English) bilingual glossary of abbreviations in the field of rheumatology. Although these shortened forms are recurrent in the medical text, they continue to challenge translators. This article describes some of the phases of the creation of this glossary and discusses the relationship between the preparation of reference material and the instrumental sub-competence.

Abstract: this article aims to analyze argumentative strategies used in the dissemination of hate speech against ethnic, gender/sexual orientation and religious minorities on Facebook. Manual collection of potentially offensives comments was carried out in a way that the corpus is composed by 225 comments with lgbtphobic aspect, 194 comments with racista content and 181 comments which presents possible religious intolerance, adding up 600 comments. The data was analyzed throuth works that considers argumentation as a discoursive practice (AMOSSY, 2018; CHARAUDEAU, 2008, 2010), as well as works about hate speech (FORTUNA; NUNES, 2018). In the end, we present some argumentative categories of hate speech, which can be applied to judicial expertise, in the escope of Forensic Linguistics, and to corpus annotation tasks in the ambit of Computational Linguistics. Keywords: argumentation; hate speech; verbal violence.

Abstract: This study focuses on a descriptive analysis of online comments in a homo-affective publication on Instagram. We seek to conduct an argumentative examination of the data used by commentators in relation to the presence and use of stereotypes, commonplaces and so-called common evidence within a polemics interaction. We delimit a type of analysis with notions and methods of text linguistics, or more particularly, Textual / Discursive Analysis (textual and discursive spaces), as well as the Theory of Argumentation in Discourse (delimitation of types of data used) and Digital Discourse Analysis (notions of technodiscourse and online commentary). The collected comments present characteristics of what is defined as polemics interaction, that is, of an argument wrapped in dissent. The analyzes allow us to conclude that there is a strong tendency to use arguments with stereotyped marks or as what we characterize as common evidence, both in defense and against the subject of controversy. This data represents a strong demarcation of discursive space at the moment of combat from the point of view and the values of opposing groups. Keywords: online commentary; stereotype; polemics argument; textual / discursive analysis.
