Purpose: Due to the emergent COVID situation, the teachers of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Al- Musanna, Oman (UTASA) had to abruptly switch over to online teaching platforms like Microsoft Teams. They encountered unexpected challenges. This research study aimed to survey the opinions of ELT teachers in UTASA to cope up with such an unanticipated mode of study. The specific objective of this study was to investigate the attitudes and practices of ELT Teachers in UTASA towards professional development during emergency situations like the COVID-19. Research Methods: This study adopted a quantitative research design to reach the intended population in the University of Technology and Applied Sciences- Al- Musanna, Oman (UTASA). A questionnaire tool, Attitude and Practices Scale for Professional Development, was prepared for this study to elicit information about participants' attitudes and practices of towards professional development for online learning. Findings: The results of the study found no remarkable consistency in the surveyed teachers' thoughts and reflections regarding their attitudes. While some opted for more CPD opportunities, others believed that significant administrative challenges- including time and workload- were the hindrance. Implications for Research and Practice: The abrupt shift to online teaching showed that teachers in UTASA needed professional development as a few teachers faced challenges to cope with such changes. The continuous professional development (CPD) therefore would therefore benefit ELT teachers in such abrupt transitions of the teaching mode. CPD courses would also open new horizons for the ELT teachers and take them a step ahead of merely learning about teaching methodology. (C) 2021 Ani Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

Purpose : Critical thinking and student attitudes are pertinent to 21st century learning of cultural values which is still very low. Research with a focus on improving these skills and attitudes using inquiry-based approaches are very limited. This research aimed to improve critical thinking and student attitudes of elementary school teacher education students with an inquiry-based learning model assisted by the ethno-constructivism module against the traditional printed teaching materials used in lectures. Methodology: This study used experimental quantitative design where the sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique. The sample of 68 participants was equally divided into one experimental group (n = 34), who was taught by the inquiry-based learning model and one control group (n = 34), taught using traditional teaching materials. Oliver-Hoyo Rubric for Critical Thinking (OHRCT) and one attitude questionnaire were used as research instrument. Data was analyzed using SPSS 21 application to achieve descriptive statistics in the form of mean, min, max, and categories and inferential statistics for independent sample t-test (t-test). Findings: A significant difference in terms of critical thinking skills and students’ attitude was found between the control and the experimental groups. The experimental group treated through the inquiry-based ethno-constructivism module was found having superior critical thinking skills and attitudes towards learning cultural values as compared to the students of control group. Implications for Research and Practice: The implementation of inquiry-based learning model assisted by the ethno- constructivism module is proven as an effective method to encourage critical thinking and developing positive attitude among elementary school teacher education students. Pre-service teachers need to be given the opportunity to develop direct experiences and thoughts about cultural values and devise activities to teach these values. The teachers must also introduce the inquiry-based learning in developing their teaching tools.

Purpose: The acceleration of the transformation of education and learning technology due to the COVID-19 pandemic has spawned various online learning program platforms to support and maintain the quality of graduates. The limitation of face-to-face meetings (offline) encourages many parties to develop models and applications of effective and efficient learning technology. One of them is implementing a learning model based on Electronic Problem Based Learning (E-PBL) in improving student's entrepreneurial attitudes in achieving learning competencies through web-based interactions between lecturers and students. Method: The research design uses a quantitative research approach with the use of E-PBL software on lecturers and lecturer students which aims to analyze the Electronic Problem Based Learning model by learning, learning motivation, and learning attitudes with a sample of 129 participants. Data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 application. Findings: A significant influence was found of the application of the E-PBL learning model on variables like learning, learning motivation, and learning attitudes Implications for Research and Practice: The application of the E-PBL learning model can improve learning methods, learning motivation, and positive learning attitudes that are effective and efficient for students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose : There are several barriers to medical students being conversant with current digital health tools. A few examples of them are an overburdened curriculum, inadequate resources, and financial challenges. The conventional educational environment was unable to fully unleashed students’ literacy on health-related technology. Thus, this study was intended to evaluate whether Arduino coding can enhance students' literacy towards health-related technology as a teaching and learning tool. Methods: In this study, a quasi-experimental model of a pretest and a posttest with a single group was applied. A total of twenty-nine students from medical faculty in Universiti Malaysia Sabah were selected via convenience sampling technique. All participants attended the Arduino coding theory session and were divided into 14 pairs during the hands-on session. Results: There was a significant improvement in the students' literacy on health-related technology. The posttest results were significantly improved compared to the pretest performed before the workshop (p <0.001). The majority of participants (n=26, 91.0 %) were generally satisfied with the workshop. Implication for Research and Practice: The findings of this study indicated that the Arduino coding workshop increased medical students' literacy on health-related technology. The majority of students expressed their satisfaction with the workshop's content. It can therefore be suggested to incorporate Arduino coding program in the medical curriculum as an elective module. Further studies may be conducted to determine the long-term impact of Arduino coding program for enhancing medical students’ skills to create technical solutions for encountered health problems.

Since most of the financial crisis caused by the bursting bubble of financial assets, the investigation of bubble behaviors and the early detection for the prevention of adverse economic consequences is important. This paper investigates whether multiple price bubbles exist in USDKZT exchange rate on the basis of a recursive right tailed Generalized Supremum Augmented Dickey Fuller Test (GSADF) developed by Phillips, Shi and Yu (2015), as well as to determine date stamps of the price bubbles. In this regard, we performed GSADF test by using weekly closing prices of the nominal exchange rate for the period between 23.08.2015 to 04.04.2021. In line with the empirical findings obtained, two explosive bubbles are detected in 2018 and 2020 when USDKZT exchange rate deviates from fundamental value. Our findings suggest that due to the possibility of bubble repetition, GSADF has been verified to be a better test for detecting bubbles.

The real aim of the programme is an extension of Chinese power and influence. As per an analyst, it is a game where China is steadily placing counters across Asia and Europe. In the Western views, it is easy to interpret comments as a strategy of China, with the aim of extending Chinese influence in a series of carefully planned steps. Around 114 BC by the Han dynasty, the trade routes of Central Asia were expanded largely through the missions and explorations of Chinese imperial envoy Zhang Qian. The world’s greatest economic construction and development project ever is being undertaken by China. In the economic map of the world the New Silk Road project is a revolutionary change. The geopolitical conflicts over the project could lead to a new cold war between East and West for dominance in Eurasia as it is becoming clearer every day.

The purpose of the present study is to analyse the secondary school 7-grade science textbook in terms of science, engineering, and entrepreneurship applications, an area of practice emphasised in the curriculum restructured in 2018. For this purpose, the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was employed in the study. The research data source consists of 6 project design activities in the 7thgrade science textbook taught in the 2018-2019 academic year. The project design activities were analysed by content analysis. Analysis findings found coordination between the attainment of some curriculum units and the instructions in the textbook failed to be achieved. Deficiencies in terms of material, time, and cost according to science, engineering, and entrepreneurship evaluation criteria in the project design sections were also found. It was concluded that the link between the curriculum and textbook should be improved in some units following the science assessment criteria.

The present research aims to examine the opinions of Erasmus+ exchange program students going abroad with the program as part of their experiences. Descriptive phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in this study. Thus, open-ended opinion forms, which were answered by 14 students who went abroad in the 2016-2017 academic years with the Erasmus+ exchange program were analyzed by content analysis. The data obtained from the participants were handled under three themes: information acquisition and application; overseas process; contribution, expectation and suggestion. The findings obtained in this study suggest that it is important for the coordinators to keep the interaction with the students at the highest level to run the program in a healthier way. Besides, it is recommended that informative meetings are held at universities about exchange programs for students and that the peers participating in the Erasmus+ exchange program are given a voice in the meetings.
