The aims of the research are to analyse the aspects dan the factors that influence Celie, the main character being a lesbian in the novel “The Colour Purple” by Alice Walker. The research applied descriptive method by using psychological approach through the principle of Adler’s personality theory. The data source was taken from all the words, dialogues, phrases, and, sentences in Alice Walker's novel "The Colour Purple". The result showed that the novel “The Colour Purple” written by Alice Walker portrayed Celie being a lesbian because of some aspects and factors which influenced her point of view about relationships and sexual orientation. Her personality changed her life through the aspects such as inferiority, superior, creative self, self-conscious and pseudo purpose that related to her gender and lesbian. Other factors also influenced her character and personality of loving with same gender because of her lifestyle personality and social interests.

This research examines the function of Kyaraben in kindergarten children Japan. This study aims to analyze the function of Kyaraben in Japanese kindergarten children. The data collection method used is the observation method with the data collection technique is conversation technique (interview) through zoom media to four mother Japanese informant. The research location is in Tennouji Osaka, Japan. Data analysis methods and techniques were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. Meanwhile, methods and techniques for presenting the results of data analysis using informal methods. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that there are two functions of Kyaraben for kindergarten children in Japan. Kyaraben as impulse (Impuls). The function of the impulse that give the stimulus or response from the child to eat all the meal in Kyaraben. Kyaraben has an attractive, colorful display element, and there are characters that kids like. Furthermore, Kyaraben functions as manipulation (Manipulasi) so that children continue to enjoy Kyaraben even though there are foods they don't like.

ABSTRACT Translation is the process of transferring a message from one language to another with consideration to the equivalence. In the practice of translation, forms may change. The practice of translation should be done on the basis of linguistic theories as tools. Since the translator is concerned exclusively and continuously with meaning, it is not surprising that Halidayan linguistics which sees language primarily as a meaning potential should offer itself as a serviceable tool for determining the constituent part of a source language text network of relations with its translation. Therefore, this research will identify the translation technique through the information structure theories (Theme-Rheme) and its readability in BabyShark StoryBook Series. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The data collection was conducted by using observation and note-taking techniques. Ten young children became target readers for the assessment to the readability of the translated text. The results show that the Theme-Rheme analysis can lead to find the translation techniques which were applied. They are Modulation, Transposition, Reduction and Amplification. The data reported here appear to support the assumption that the translator applied linguistic simplification and over explicitation in order to children fully grasp the text.Keywords:translation, theme-rheme, translation technique, readability

Politeness strategies are essential to communicate with others, either face-to-face or using computer-mediated communication synchronously or asynchronously. The advancement of technology also contributes to the development of the communication strategy. The study pointed at examining the politeness strategies utilized by students and teachers in an asynchronous online discussion. It used qualitative designed. The participants were 24 postgraduate students at a state university in North Bali. The data were gathered from the asynchronous online discussion on New Direction in ELT and Bilingual and Bilingual Education course. The study found that positive politeness is primarily used in the discussion. The result showed that the lecturers and students had a great awareness to apply politeness strategies in communicatio

Becoming a successful television talk show presenter is an important effort to bring a program progressing smoothly to a successful ending. To accomplish this challenge, this article reports the result the analysis of one program namely the Indonesia Lawyers Club talk show hosted by Karni Ilyas. This paper aims to describe and explain: (1) the politeness strategies of the program host's, and (2) the expressive speech-act of the host on television shows that air on TV One. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. Using purposive sampling, the data source was the episode of "Aduh, Suporter Bola". Content analysis was used as a technique to analyse the speech-acts. The results showed: (1) the politeness of the program host includes positive politeness strategies and negative politeness strategies; and (2) expressive speech act of the host include gratitude, criticism, condolences, expressing curiosity, expressing hope, regretting, expressing agreement, congratulating, suspecting, apologizing, and expressing concern. Karni Ilyas's politeness strategy in guiding the talk show used various strategy satisfactorily in accordance with the context of multicultural Indonesian society. kesopanan negatif; dan (2) tindak tutur ekspresif pemandu acara antara lain ditemukan strategy pengungkapan rasa syukur, kritik, belasungkawa, menyampaikan rasa ingin tahu, menyampaikan harapan, menyesal, menyampaikan kesepakatan, mengucapkan selamat, curiga, meminta maaf, dan menyampaikan keprihatinan. Research on foreign language anxiety among Indonesian learners of English has gained some attention thus far. However, few studies have examined specifically English listening anxiety of Indoensian speakers. Previous research in other countries has suggested a number of variables contributing to the foreign language anxiety. Taking into consideration some of the factors that are distinctive for Indonesian learners’ contexts, this present study aims to find out the relationship between number of languages learned or acquired by the learners, gender of the learners, the learners’ English self-rating proficiency, and length of residence of the learners in the target language country with L2 listening anxiety of Indonesian learners of English. This study involved Foreign Language Listening Anxiety Scale (FLLAS) data that were obtained from 109 Indonesian university students and were analyzed quantitatively using Pearson’s correlation, Spearman’s rho, and one-way ANOVAs. The finding shows that there is a significant negative correlation between Indonesian learners of English listening anxiety with the learners’ length of residence in the target language country and the learners’ English self-rating proficiency. The significant difference in terms of length of residence in the target language country especially lied in between the no residence group and <1-year group, and between no residence group and >1 year. In the English self-rating, the significant difference lied in between Intermediate and advanced groups.

Japanesse proverb(kotowaza) is an expression which is figurately expressed by someone to another one as an insinuation, advice, life experience, and a game. There are a lot of Japanesse proverb use the parable / comparison, one of the parable/ comparison object used in it is animals. Japenesse proverb is one of the subjects that hard to learned and umderstood, especially for the foreign learner ( example indonesian ). This research discuss the analysis of Japeness proverb which contain the word animals taken from happy lilac websitae . The purpose of this research is to know about what kind of animal that contain in kotozawa and its function. The data in this research is the kotozawa that contain of animal words which taken from happy lilac website and the methodein this research is qualitative descriptive. The data collection technique in this research is the library technique. Based on the resaerch result 23 from 210 kotozawa that contain of animal words, 7 of them contain the offensive function (kougekiteki kotowaza), 6 kotowaza contain empiric function (keikenteki kotowaza), 10 kotowaza dictative function (kyoukunteki kotowaza) and none of kotowaza that contain the game (kyoukunteki kotowaza)

Kanji merupakan huruf yang melambangkan arti. Selain itu, kanji juga sebagai “tulang punggung” dalam kosakata bahasa Jepang. Kanji juga memiliki tiga unsur yang terkandung didalamnya, yaitu bentuk, bunyi, dan makna. Kanji menjadi huruf yang sulit untuk dipelajari oleh orang asing seperti orang Indonesia.Dalam mempelajari kanji ditemuinya beberapa masalah, salah satunya kesalahan pada cara baca kanji (yomikata kanji). kesalahan ini dilihat dari hasil pengerjaan soal ujian akhir semester Juli-Desember 2019 yang dikerjakan oleh mahasiswa. Selain itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan fonologi yang terjadi pada yomikata kanji mahasiswa semester III Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Unversitas Negeri Padang.Jenis penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dan metode analisis kesalahan. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester III JPG 2 angkatan 2018 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang yang berjumlah 31 orang. Data penelitian ini adalah kesalahan fonologi pada yomikata kanji. sedangkan, sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah dokumen hasil lembar jawaban UAS Juli-Desember 2019 pada mata kuliah shochukyu moji goi zenhan. Instrument penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan diketahui dari 20 kanji ditemukannya Kesalahan tersebut ditemukan sebanyak 42 kesalahan fonologi yang diantaranya 6 kesalahan dalam penambahan fonem atau silabel, 15 kesalahan dalam penghilangan fonem atau silabel dan 21 kesalahan dalam perubahan bunyi. Kesalahan fonologi terjadi karena kesalahan ejaan dalam penambahan dan penghilangan fonem, silabel, tanda baca, dan perubahan bunyi serta lambang bunyi bahasa Jepang yang membedakan bunyi fonem atau silabel berdasarkan cara baca kanji, dan tercampurnya penempatan onyomi dan kunyomi, yang disebabkan karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang kaidah cara baca kanji.

Kanji menjadi huruf yang sulit untuk dipelajari oleh orang asing seperti orang Indonesia.Dalam mempelajari kanji ditemuinya beberapa masalah, salah satunya kesalahan pada cara baca kanji (yomikata kanji). kesalahan ini dilihat dari hasil pengerjaan soal ujian akhir semester Juli-Desember 2019 yang dikerjakan oleh mahasiswa. Selain itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan fonologi yang terjadi pada yomikata kanji mahasiswa semester III Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Unversitas Negeri Padang.Jenis penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dan metode analisis kesalahan. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester III JPG 2 angkatan 2018 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang yang berjumlah 31 orang. Data penelitian ini adalah kesalahan fonologi pada yomikata kanji. sedangkan, sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah dokumen hasil lembar jawaban UAS Juli-Desember 2019 pada mata kuliah shochukyu moji goi zenhan. Instrument penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan diketahui dari 20 kanji ditemukannya Kesalahan tersebut ditemukan sebanyak 42 kesalahan fonologi yang diantaranya 6 kesalahan dalam penambahan fonem atau silabel, 15 kesalahan dalam penghilangan fonem atau silabel dan 21 kesalahan dalam perubahan bunyi. This study aims to determine the motivation to learn Japanese in the 2018 students in Japanese Language Education Study Program at UNP. The method used in this study is a quantitative method and this type of research is descriptive. The population of this study was to 63 students. The sampling technique is total sampling technique, as many as the 2018 students in Japanese language education study program at Universitas Negeri Padang. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used is descriptive with a percentage.The results of this study are the average questionnaire of the motivation to learn Japanese for the 2018 Students in Japanese Language Education Study Program at UNP. The Motivation to learn Japanese students in 2018 students in Japanese Language Education Study Program at UNP has an average score of 70.6% which is category in classified as "high". Which is based on the hopes and aspirations as the highest motivation in learning Japanese, obtaining the highest score with a percentage of 81.7% which is included in "very high" category. These hopes and aspirations for the future include jobs that students want in the future, such as working in Japanese companies, becoming educators / teaching and working in fields that related to the Japanese language.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis kesalahan penggunaan doushi dan keiyoushi pada sakubun mahasiswa program studi pendidikan bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan dan jenis kesalahan penggunaan doushi dan keiyoushi pada mahasiswa tahun masuk 2019 program studi pendidikan bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang. Dalam penelitian ini, jenis penelitian yang digunakan ialah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah kesalahan penggunaan doushi dan keiyoushi dalam kalimat yang terdapat pada sumber data berupa sakubun mahasiswa tahun masuk 2019 program studi pendidikan bahasa Jepang UNP yang berjumlah 30 sakubun. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti itu sendiri. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah teknik baca dan teknik catat. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilaksanakan pada penggunaan doushi dapat disimpulkan bahwa bentuk kesalahan fonologi yang ada berjumlah 9 kesalahan, kesalahan morfologi berjumlah 8 kesalahan, dan kesalahan sintaksis hanya terdapat 7 kesalahan. Kemudian pada doushi terdapat jenis kesalahan mistake berjumlah 14 kesalahan, lapses berjumlah 9 kesalahan. Sedangkan pada penggunaan keiyoushi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa bentuk kesalahan fonologi berjumlah 18 kesalahan, kesalahan morfologi berjumlah 2 kesalahan, kesalahan sintaksis berjumlah 12 kesalahan, dan kesalahan semantik berjumlah 2 kesalahan. Selanjutnya terdapat jenis kesalahan mistake berjumlah 25 kesalahan, dan lapses berjumlah 8 kesalahan.
