We present the results of a content analysis of communications related to the act of terrorism at Domodedovo airport. They show that mass media plays a significant role as a source of factual, undigested information. The theoretical value of the results is that they show a significant number of cases where an actor is accused with no reference to his actions or nonactions. The range of types of complicity in terrorist activity was substantial.

This article presents the results of a sociological survey conducted in 2013 in order to assess the effectiveness of demographic policy measures. We show that the most effective measures were federal maternal (family) capital, the increase in benefits for families with children up to 1.5 years of age, regional maternal capital, and land allocation for families with three or more children. The assessments of aid measures depend on how many children the family has.

Research on the Russian labor market and how young Russians prepare for it shows that education is the main factor in their views of appropriate strategies for employment. Data also show that the education-to-work transition is hampered by a poor fit between the needs of the economy and the educational system.

The artricle analyzes the relationship between fathers and children after the parents' divorce, identifying the following conditions that influence their relationship: the child's age at the time of divorce, the behavior of the child and other relatives, the father's desire to participate in the child's life, the place of residence, and the father's career. Three stages of development in this relationship are identified, and the types of paternal behavior during and after the divorce are clarified. Special attention is focused on the child's socialization after the divorce and the implications of this for socialization in contemporary circumstances.

This article examines the current state of interpersonal trust between Russians (“close circle” of relatives, friends, acquaintances, and the majority of people). The continuing high level of trust between loved ones can be explained by the significance of these singular relationships and shared experiences adapting to changing economic and political conditions. However, the low prevalence of generalized trust is evidence that people have negative expectations in relation to their fellow citizens. At the same time, there is a connection between trust and socio-demographic characteristics and the social well-being of Russians. The greater is the variety of resources that people have (income, education, residence in a large city), the more they trust their acquaintances and the less they trust the majority of people. Satisfaction with one’s own life and the situation in the country reinforces the latter. Overall, this upward trend in trust in various parties over the past 15 years shows that social relationships are gradually stabilizing and that the population is adapting to new life and work conditions.

The article is devoted to differences in people's health in European countries and the social inequalities associated with this subject. An analysis of 2008 European Social Survey data (a representative sample of twenty-eight countries), World Bank statistics, and World Health Organization statistics is conducted using two-level logistic modeling techniques. The analysis shows that as a rule public health in postcommunist countries is significantly worse than in other parts of the continent. The cause of this discrepancy is the relatively low level of development of the economy, welfare, and public administration of many of these countries, as well as a weakening of social integration. It is also shown that European health is structured according to demographic and social characteristics, which are dependent on the macro context of a country's level of social development. As social development improves, social inequalities in health become more uniform.

The article demonstrates the potential of a neo-Weberian approach to the study of professionals working in the field of social work. Based on materials obtained from a regional survey, we have been able to gather certain economic, status, and cultural characteristics of the profession and its interrelationships. The study showed that social work is characterized by a low income, a lack of prestige, and a relative degree of autonomy; the profession is also characterized by a limited sphere of influence, a predominance of institutional regulatory mechanisms, and informal mechanisms. Appeal to the normative-legal context of professionalization leads to the conclusion that practical competence prevails over analytical and managerial qualities for the majority of professionals in the field; however, the majority of these professionals are highly experienced in terms of the structure of social work.

The article considers the consumption of television and the Internet in Russia. The concepts of relative constancy and the theory of utility and demand of the media are the theoretical basis of the analysis. The empirical basis is drawn from the results of a study of communicative behavior of Russia's urban population. The article proposes a typology of the consumption of television and the Internet in terms of the duration of media consumption, and discusses the factors that determine the characteristics of the current state of affairs and prospects for the consumption of television and the Internet in the future.

The article presents the results of a study of the historical consciousness of contemporary students in comparison with other similar research, and considers, in the context of the young generation, the status of the past, different sources of knowledge about the past, historical interests, the specificity of historical identification, the role of institutions in the views of young people, and ethnocentrism. It is concluded that the historical consciousness of students today has a contradictory nature, which is associated with the loss of the fundamental role of tradition as a basic value of historical consciousness and orientation, as well as a loss of interest in family history.
