Immunochromatographic test systems with rapid sample preparation have been developed for testing the composition of meat products, which ensure the identification and assessment of the content of muscle tissues from different groups of animals. It was shown that the technological processes of enzymatic and heat treatment did not impair the selective detection of biomarkers.

The efficiency of the consortium of lactic oxide bacteria and yeast is shown to suppress phytophotogenic bacteria and micromicets, conditionally pathogenic bacteria in vitro conditions. It has been shown that 1.0% of the solution of the culture fluid of the microbial consortium has the maximum effect in reducing the infestation of seed cereals.

Bioluminescent methods based on firefly luciferase for detecting the effect of membrane-active agents (antibiotics and saponins) on living prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have been developed. New data on the kinetics and mechanism of action of colistin on E. coli cells and digitonin cells on NEK293 cells were obtained. Examples of the use of constitutive and inducible luciferase reporters in cell biology are given.

Drug repositioning – the discovery of new indications for the launched drugs – is the rapid natural response to viral infection SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19. We will consider the current state of research and development of repositioned pharmaceuticals for the therapy of COVID-19 using in silico and in vitro methods.

The successful destruction of biofilm structures and the significant decrease of non-specific bacterial adhesion to the surfaces after either Ficin or Papain treatment have been detected. The combination of enzymes with antimicrobials increased the efficacy of the latter against biofilm-embedded bacteria. Moreover, Ficin treatment lead to smoother reepithelisation, and new tissue formation exhibiting collagen structure characteristics closely reminiscent of those observed in the native tissue. Thus, both soluble and immobilized Ficin and Papain appear beneficial for the treatment of biofilm-associated infections, speeding up wound healing and microbial decontamination.
