The method used descriptive qualitative approach about the implementation of microfinance in BUS in West Java with library research, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that the implementation of microfinance in BUS was distributed directly to individual customers and MSMEs or through sharia microfinance institutions such as sharia cooperatives. The contract used mudharabah, musyarakah, and murabahah. The finance ceiling was between Rp. 2 million to Rp. 200 million with and or without collateral, and with and without assistance. Based on the distribution of microfinance to customers by using mudharabah contracts for investment or working capital (not consumptive), the objectives, and the targets of customers, the intermediary social function of BUS is adequate good. However, the use of murabahah contracts oriented to bank’s profit and the existence of collateral showed that the intermediary social function of BUS has not been optimal yet. This study aims to understand and apply the hadith of jihad in accordance with the demands and objectives of the Sharia, both from the aspect of sharia and criticism of the hadith of jihad, up to its implementation now. The method of takhrij hadith is used by inventorying the hadith of jihad, then confirming it to its original source and classifying the sanad and matan to determine the quality, quantity, backrest, and its elucidation. The instructions of the hadith studied regarding jihad in terms of war are not generally accepted, and they only apply in a state of war. Hadith about jihad in terms of quality: Shahih, aspect of quantity: ahad aziz, backrest aspect: marfu, and aspects of tathbiq: maqbul and mamul. The implementation of the hadith about jihad now includes jihad which is not identified with war, yet identified with the propagation of Islamic teachings, the teaching of Sharia Science, good deeds, society welfare and so forth. Keywords—elucidation; criticism; hadith; jihad

People’s believes that forms the aqidah relating to work may affects the optimal performance of individuals in the organization. Previous researches state that well-implemented Islamic work ethics has a direct and positive influence on various dimension of attitudes in organizational change and individual performance. However, the existence of work ethics in a company cannot always be implemented properly, meaning that there are still irregularities in the work ethics. It can be seen from the rampant fraud committed by employees and members of Islamic organizations. Looking at this phenomenon, this study will examine how the dimensions of Islamic work ethics (IWE) applied to Islamic Community Credit Bank (ICCB) employees in Bandung. ICBB is a financial institution with Islamic Community as its market segment. This research described the use of total communication learning model in enhancing the language capacity of deaf children. Conventionally, the learning model employed in teaching deaf children is based on sign language and this limit their ability to communicate with people that are not deaf. Furthermore, these children are marginalized from the society because of their inability to understand the language used for public communication and, consequently, there is a problem of communication between them and other people in the society. The research was conducted through the use of qualitative research method while data as collected through the use of observation, in-depth interview, and focus group discussion. The data collected was verified through the use of source triangulation and descriptive analysis. The research revealed that total communication learning model through the use of pictures, writings, and readings increases and enhances the language skill of deaf children. It was also discovered that the model helped these children to communicate verbally with other people in their community. Conclusively, the research showed that it is possible for deaf children to communicate with other people without relying on sign language only. Keywords—deaf children; total communication; learning model; sign language; picture-writing-reading

This study aims (1) to describe how radical-muslim groups representate Indonesian democratic leader in Indonesia; (2) to identify the implication from the way they representate system of democracy. To get these aims, we collected data, i.e., postings on the websites they managed. We focus on Jamā’ah Anṣāru Tawḥīd (JAT) and Ḥizbut Taḥrīr Indonesia (HTI) as representatives of radical-muslim groups, indicated by democracy refusal. We analyze their postings by adopting Leeuwen's model of discourse analysis. We find that JAT representate democracy as a “religion”. For JAT, democratic leaders are “Islam apostates”, “kāfir”, “ṭaghūt”. Meanwhile, HTI regard democracy as an instrument for capitalists or colonialists. They regard Indonesia democratic leaders as a colonialist’s cat’s paw. We conclude that radical muslim groups have different perspectives and rationale in representing and delegitimizing leaders within democracy context. Language functions as a structure to oppose, delegitimize democratic leaders. Even more, the practice of language can be used to legitimize violence. For example, construction of “democracy as a religion” and “leader as a kāfir” legitimize sacred violence, e.g. terrorism. This article aims to investigate how poor people in developing countries gain benefit from globalization by examining the opportunity to work as migrant worker. To respond the research gap, this study adopts a case study approach with a fieldwork survey in East Java Indonesia. The result indicates that diaspora strategy is almost impossible for the poor if he or she notices a high possibility for the employer to cheat those who work in domestic jobs, like nanny, driver, or baby sitter. Unless protection from both house and home countries is available, the diaspora strategy is not a better option for the migrant-work applicant. The paper contributes to the scholarly interest in the diaspora strategy to interrogate the assumption underlying the Migration-as-Development (MAD)
