The incidence of oncological pathology in Russia and throughout the world is steadily growing, and the mortality rate is not decreasing either. A large number of locally advanced and neglected cases of cancer of various location are revealed. Treatment of these forms requires polychemotherapy (PCT). The study included 52 patients with oncological pathology of various location: head and neck, stomach, large intestine, they underwent adjuvant chemotherapy according to the PF, TPF and FOLFOX regimens, which include an infusion of 5-fluorouracil for 2–5 days. The study analyzed gastrointestinal toxicity according to CTCAE, version 4.03, 2010. It was revealed that the addition of the probiotic Biovestin to meal reduces gastrointestinal toxicity by 2 times compared with the control group and reduces the risk of interruption of the PCT course by 19 % due to the development of side effects. Thus, the addition of the probiotic Biovestin has shown its effectiveness, safety and simplicity of use in the prevention of gastrointestinal disorders in cancer patients under conditions of PCT.

The incidence of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is increasing every year. IDA is characterized by a variety of clinical manifestations, including in the oral cavity, which is explained by a wide range of metabolic disorders. In patients with sideropenia, the body's resistance to infectious and inflammatory diseases decreases, which is associated with depression of humoral and cellular immunity. At the same time, data on the level of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in patients with IDA are very contradictory; there is no clear understanding of the significance of changes in the oral cavity cytokine levels in this category of patients. The aim of the research was to study the content of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the oral fluid in patients with IDA. The study involved 168 patients. The main group included patients with IDA, the comparison group — patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases without somatic pathology, the control group — persons without concomitant diseases and inflammatory processes in the oral cavity. In all patients, the dental status was determined, as well as the content of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-4 and IFN-γ in the oral fluid. The results of dental examination showed the presence of inflammatory periodontal diseases in all examined with IDA. The combination of inflammatory periodontal diseases with IDA led to a significant decrease in the concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-6 in the oral fluid of the participants compared with similar indicators in patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases without somatic pathology, which indicates immune deficiency in these patients. The dental examination results showed the presence of inflammatory periodontal diseases in all examined with IDA. The combination of inflammatory periodontal diseases with IDA led to a significant decrease in the concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-6 in the oral fluid of the examined, compared with the similar indicators in patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases without somatic pathology, which indicates immune deficiency in these patients.

The effectiveness of 6-week rehabilitation of 53 patients who came through moderate severity pneumonia caused by COVID-19 was studied. At the 3rd stage of investigation, the study participants were divided into two groups, taking into account the profession: medical staff (31 persons) and service workers (22 persons). The examination, carried out after the end of the observation period, revealed a lower efficiency of restoration of impaired functions in the group of medical workers — significant improvement in terms of vital capacity of the lungs, severity of dyspnea, exercise tolerance were not achieved, which dictates the need for a longer duration of rehabilitation treatment courses. At the same time, a decrease in the activity of systemic inflammation, an improvement in the quality of life upon completion of 6-week rehabilitation in medical professionals indicates the potential for further health restoration.

The article presents a study of the mindfulness practice effect on the cognitive and psycho-emotional profile of two groups of people who have been in social isolation for 6 months. There are few interventions that affect significantly the reduction of the adverse impact of social isolation. Mindfulness practices that train skills for monitoring the present moment experiences have shown promising results. The study was conducted on a sample of 19 participants with 3–5 and 5–10 years of mindfulness practices. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether mindfulness practices can compensate for the negative impact of social isolation on the psycho-emotional and cognitive profile of participants. To test this hypothesis, the following methods were used: the Beck Depression Scale, the Rumination Scale, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory, the five-factor personality model, the Visual Analogue Scale for assessing the emotional state, and computerized cognitive tests. The results showed the potential value of mindfulness practices in reducing symptoms of depression and sleep disturbances.

Lung cancer ranks first in terms of mortality among oncological pathologies. Making a correct diagnosis in case of detection of a round nodules in the lung can take quite a long time, which undoubtedly affects the patient's survival. The aim of this research is to analyze the examination methods used for differential diagnosis between tuberculosis and lung cancer. Based on the results of the study, the need for standardization of an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis, as well as the need to comply with the criteria of the Fleischner Society in wide practice among doctors of various specialties, was established.

Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a brain lesion due to impaired blood circulation, caused by thrombosis of the intracranial veins and sinuses, leading to an increase in hydrostatic pressure in the proximal veins and capillaries, as a result of which cerebral edema and ischemia develop, and, consequently, cerebral infarction is formed. CVT is especially common in women aged 20 to 35 years, which is largely due to the course of pregnancy and the postpartum period, as well as the use of oral contraceptives. Disturbances in the hemostasis system play a key role in the pathogenesis of these thromboses. Data have appeared on the impact of a novel coronavirus infection on the development of cerebral venous thrombosis, both directly, influencing the mechanisms of thrombosis, and indirectly through the mechanisms of inflammation and endothelial lesion. The article analyzes possible factors in the development of cerebral venous thrombosis, discusses mutually potentiating mechanisms in the presence of several significant prothrombotic diseases in women of reproductive age.

Peripheral chorioretinal dystrophies (PCRD), common among young patients, pose a serious risk in the development of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and, subsequently, blindness. This study presents the data of a survey and an ophthalmological examination of 30 students of the Novosibirsk State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia regarding this pathology, its association with gender, length of the anteroposterior segment of eyeball and the degree of myopic refraction was revealed. Of the 30 students examined, 17 (21 eyes) were diagnosed with PCRD, of which 9 were female (53%) and 8 male (47%), and rhegmatogenous dystrophies were more common in the superior temporal and inferior temporal quadrants. The infero-nasal sector often remained intact. Contrary to expectations, PCRD was detected among 2/3 of students with low myopia, half of students with moderate myopia and half — with high myopia, as well as in the control group of emmetropes, which makes us reconsider the issue of the etiology of the disease and search for other leading predisposing factors, in addition to high myopia.

Appendicular ureteroplasty is an extremely rare surgical intervention that is performed to restore the patency of the upper urinary tract. The purpose of the operation is to replace the narrowed part of the ureter, restore the passage of urine through the ureter, preserve and restore kidney function. In some cases, if plastic reconstructive surgery is not possible, nephrectomy is used. This clinical case is the first experience of performing ureteroplasty using the appendix in RZD-Medicine private clinical hospital, Novosibirsk. The operation was performed laparoscopically. Positive long-term results of the intervention showed its effectiveness.
