The French period of Catalan philosopher and writer Eugenio d’Ors (1881-1954) has not been sufficiently studied. The edition of six unpublished letters between D’Ors and Paul Desjardins, the famous director and organiser of the Décades of the abbey of Pontigny, which deal with the preparation and celebration of a seminar on the Baroque in the summer of 1931, offer a first reflection on the reception of D’Ors’s thought in Paris. He was a presence oscillating between the initial dazzle and the subsequent disappointment, between blind admiration and irritated disenchantment.

This article rescues an interview with Michel de Certeau conducted in 1972 by Olivier Mongin and published in Catalan in the Andorran magazine Posobra the following year. Given the singularity of this magazine, its context is described, as well as the channels for the reception of de Certeau’s work in the Catalan culture of the 1970s.

An analysis of the confessional text by Lêdo Ivo, one of the greatest Brazilian poets of the 20th and 21st centuries, highlighting the autobiographical status, in which the category of pretence, of fiction that creates a narrative identity falls. At the same time, the aim of this study is to establish the internal relationships between autobiography and the ‘truth’ of memory.

In Mayan civilization, collective imagination about the origin of human beings follows its own patterns. Quichean mythology tells of the hazardous process that, after various failed attempts, ended in the creation of first human beings from corn. Men of Maize (Hombre de maíz), by Miguel Ángel Asturias (1949), allows us to delve into this myth of anthropogony: the fight between indigenous people and exploiters of the land is presented as a metaphor for those difficult beginnings and for the commercial corruption of a particularly symbolic food. This article highlights two important debates: that of Deféric and Elda, and that of Hilario Sacayón and Ramona Corzantes; both allow to investigate the mythical themes of magic and nahual, indispensable in the construction of a great central myth in the novel: the creation of man.
