The aim of this study was to identify relativity between teams using different formations in football matches. A total of 380 matches in the English Premier League (EPL) during 2022/2023 season was investigated. The type of formation and team quality were set as independent variables, and the results of the matches were set as dependent variables. There were a total of 19 formation types from 380 matches (760 teams). Among them, the most used formation was the 4-2-3-1 (34.3%) formation, followed by the 4-3-3 (29.2%) formation. 79.4% of the total formation was 4 backs, followed by 3 backs (17.6%) and 5 backs (3%). By team, Chelsea used the most diverse formation in one season (n=38 matches), with a total of 10 formation, while Arsenal, Fulham and Newcastle used only one formation in whole season. The 4-3-3 formation had the highest winning rate, and the 3-4-2-1 formation had the lowest winning rate. Considering the team quality, the winning rate of the strong team using 4 backs and 1 tops was the highest, and the winning rate of the weak team using 4 backs and 2 tops was the lowest. As a result of examining the relativity between formations, the team using the 4 backs and 3 tops had the highest winning rate against the team using the 4 backs and 1 top, while the team with the 4 backs and 1 top had the lowest winning rate against the 4 backs and 3 tops. This result is believed to be used as basic data for coaches who analyze the formation of the opposing team in applied world and academic areas that conduct formation research in the future.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the demographic characteristics of local governments and the use of public sports facilities. For this study, the following results were obtained by conducting frequency, regression, and correlation analysis of local government statistics and public sports facility operation data. First, the operation of public sports facilities undergo many changes in the demographic structure of local governments. It affected the total population of local governments, the population per generation, the elderly population, the elderly discount rate, and the utilization rate of public sports facilities, free use, and the elderly discount rate. Second, the operation of public sports facilities is affected by public and private facilities of local governments. The higher the number of private sports facilities, the higher the utilization rate and usage fee of public sports facilities, and the lower the discount rate for the elderly, which had a relatively greater impact than the number of public sports facilities. If the variables of this study are established with local residents, it is expected to play a sufficient role as a healthy welfare facility by operating public sports facilities suitable for the population structure.

The purpose of this study was to examine the main and interaction effects of sport teams’ warmth and competence on team identification and team-related elation. To achieve this purpose, a 2(warmth: high vs. low) × 2(competence: high vs. low) factorial design was utilized with 4 scenarios that represent 4 experimental conditions. Two-way ANOVAs and a simple effect test(n=412) were conducted to test the main and interaction effects of sport teams’ warmth and competence on team identification and team-related elation. The results of this study are as follows. First, sport teams’ warmth and competence had positive effects on team identification, and there was an interaction effect between the two independent variables. Second, sport teams’ warmth and competence had positive effects on team-related elation, but there was no interaction effect between the two independent variables. The study provides the first empirical evidence of the effects of sport fans’ warmth and competence on sport fans’ cognitive and emotional approach behaviors. In order to maximize team identification and team-related elation, sport marketers need to develop specific image strategies for building their teams’ warmth and competence that affect such cognitive and emotional approach behaviors.

Two-way ANOVAs and a simple effect test(n=412) were conducted to test the main and interaction effects of sport teams’ warmth and competence on team identification and team-related elation. The results of this study are as follows. First, sport teams’ warmth and competence had positive effects on team identification, and there was an interaction effect between the two independent variables. Second, sport teams’ warmth and competence had positive effects on team-related elation, but there was no interaction effect between the two independent variables. The study provides the first empirical evidence of the effects of sport fans’ warmth and competence on sport fans’ cognitive and emotional approach behaviors. In order to maximize team identification and team-related elation, sport marketers need to develop specific image strategies for building their teams’ warmth and competence that affect such cognitive and emotional approach behaviors.","PeriodicalId":497986,"journal":{"name":"The Korean Society of Sports Science","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135980020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
