In April 2010, the soil and common green plants samples in the downtown area of Zhzoyuan City were gathered to study the cadmium (Cd) pollution characteristics of plants and soils in Zhaoyuan city. The investigation area was divided into 5 zones as industrial zone, inner commercial, inner residence, Traffic Area, Park and Plaza, the soil and plants sample was collected according the Uniform distribution principle with GPS. The content of Cd in soil and plants was detected by ABS. The study showed that Cd concentration in soil was accumulated at a high level, the lowest is 3.38mg/kg and the highest is 8.32mg/kg, the soil is polluted severely, its content is more than III standard. Different area has different Cd content: industrial zone is the highest, 6.98mg/kg is at the top, Park and Plaza is at the lowest, the difference in the concentration is not very great, the city's pollution has been fairly well-distributed. The physics and chemistry characteristics of soil, such as pH, CEC and organic matter are the factors that influence the Cd concentration. The study showed that only pH has the significantly correlation with Cd concentration. Other rationalized in the Cd in the concentration is not obvious relevance. Cd concentration in plants is 0.53-0.84mg/kg. The positive relationship is significant between soil and plants about the Cd concentration.

The main pollutions of Xiangshan Harbor were inorganic nitrogen and inorganic phosphorus. The annual average value of inorganic nitrogen was 0.594 mg.dm-3, the lowest value was in spring (0.194 mg.dm-3), and the highest was in winter (2.212 mg.dm-3). The annual changing trend of inorganic nitrogen was winter>;autumn>;summer>;spring. The overall level of chemical oxygen demand was not high, the content of the dissolved oxygen was higher, and the reoxygenation condition was better. The nutrients in Xiangshan Harbor severely exceeded the standard. The water quality in the breed area was overall beyond IV water quality standard, and most of the water quality in Xiangshan Harbor beyond IV water quality standard.

The sediment in lakes is the pools of material and energy, and the composition and content of organic and inorganic carbon in sediments constrain carbon cycling. This paper conducts research of spatial distribution of organic and inorganic carbon contents in sediments of Tai lake in China based on the data of geochemical survey in the early 2000s. Results show that the organic, inorganic carbon contents in surface sediments (0-20 cm) of the lake are 5.76±4.38, 1.42±1.40 g kg-1 and those in deep sediments (160-180 cm) are 2.30±1.39, 2.30±1.39 g kg-1, respectively. The organic carbon content in deep sediments is close to that in surface sediments, but inorganic carbon content is 1.62 times of that in surface sediments. The ranges and coefficients of variation of carbon contents in deep sediments show lower spatial variability due to limited human activity. This work provides valuable information regarding accurate distribution of organic and inorganic carbon in the surface and deep sediments of Tai lake, which may be useful to evaluate intrinsic pollution in the lake.

Objective: To study the drug resistance of C. albicans biofilm at different stage of C. albicans biofilm formation to Chinese medicinal herb Sophora flavescens and liquorice. Methods: The morphology of the biofilm at different development stages(2, 4, 8, 24, 48h)in glass slide was observed under the inverted microscope. The drug resistance of dissociative C. albicans was detect with NCCLs microdilution and the changes of C. albicans drug resistance in biofilm were tested with XTT reduction method. Results: Drug resistance of C.albicans increased with the biofilm maturation significantly ( P<;0.05). Compared with planktonic C. albicans strains, The drug resistance of biofilm is 100 times. Conclusion:There is positive correlation between drug resistance and biofilm maturation of C. albicans.

To choose the best thermo luminescent dosimeters (TLDs) for low radiation dose detector, thermo luminescence responses of three kinds of TLDs, Al2O3: C and LiF: Mg, Cu, P, were measured, and the natural background radiation in Zhanjiang is used as a low radiation field. The TLDs' sensitivities were compared, Al2O3:C (the threshold dose of is about 1-2μGy) is in some sort more sensitive than LiF:Mg, Cu, P (the threshold dose of is about 2μGy). Temperature of glow peak of Al2O3:C is not so high, and the TL would decay after a relatively long period, so the TL dose response curve of Al2O3:C is deviation from linearity. Temperatures of glow peaks of LiF:Mg, Cu, P are relatively high, and the TL would hardly decay after a relatively long period, so the TL dose response curves are nearly linearity. In a word, Al2O3:C is not the best TLD in low radiation cumulative dose detection, although it is the best optically stimulated luminescence dosimeter (OSLD).

The paper studied the effect of different solid-liquid ratio, pH, temperature, stirring time and the size of light-burned magnesium on copper effluent concentration, when light-burned magnesium treats simulated copper wastewater 50mg/L combined with chitosan. The results show that: considering economic costs and the actual operability, when the experiment conditions with light burned magnesium-chitosan ratio 2:0.08, solid-liquid ratio 2g:250mL, reaction temperature, stirring time 30min, the effluent copper iron concentrations are less than 1mg/L, the range of PH is from 7 to 9.They meet the national secondary standard(1mg/L) (GB8978 1996).

The surface nanotopography of polymer substrates is a critical factor to regulate cellular behavior in tissue engineering approaches. In this study, nanopatterned surfaces were generated via self-assembly of polystyrene-b-poly(ethylene oxide)/dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid complex systems to control preosteoblast phenotype in vitro. Polystyrene domain sizes under 100 nm strongly affected the adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of preosteoblasts cultured on the surfaces, irrespective of the same center-to-center distance between the domains. This approach may provide a useful means to design and develop novel polymer substrates for tissue engineering applications.
