Hevea brasiliensis is the only tree species grown to produce natural rubber. The method of harvesting latex by slicing a groove into the bark of the tree mimics a mechanical wounding. In addition, rubber trees could be frequently exposed to pest and pathogen attacks through the scraped bark region. Terpenoids are a group of specialised compounds that play an important role in plant-environment interactions, especially in plant response to stress factors. The diversity of terpenoids is mainly determined by enzymes of the terpene synthase (TPS) family. Screening the RNA-seq data of H. brasiliensis revealed the presence of many putative TPS genes expressed in the bark tissues of rubber trees; however, their function has not been studied. This paper presents the identification of a TPS gene transcript variant (designated as HbTPS6L-X1) from the bark tissues of H. brasiliensis RRIV 209. Through the analysis of the phylogenetic tree, the presence of conserved motifs, and the signal peptide sequence region of the protein, as well as structural homology to known sesquiterpene synthases from other plants, HbTPS6L-X1 was predicted to belong to the TPS-a subfamily, be localised in the cytoplasm and catalyse the conversion of farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) to sesquiterpenes. These in silico functional characteristics are the basis for designing experiments to confirm the in planta biological function of HbTPS6L-X1 protein.

This article aims to investigate the determinants of the inclination of Mekong river delta (MRD) graduates towards entrepreneurship, with the purpose of providing viable solutions to authorities to enhance the efficacy of entrepreneurial endeavours. The analysis relied on primary data derived from a survey conducted in 2021, which involved 341 graduates from six provinces within the MRD. Various statistical techniques were employed to analyse the data, including the Cronbach’s Alpha test, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and linear regression analysis. The findings reveal that the entrepreneurial intention of these graduates is positively influenced by a multitude of factors, such as behaviour control, subjective norms, attitude towards entrepreneurship, and perceived desirability, while being negatively impacted by the propensity to act. The study’s primary contribution is the provision of an updated and cohesive framework that enhances understanding of the entrepreneurial intention among graduates in the MRD. The author offers actionable recommendations for various stakeholders: policymakers, universities, entrepreneurs, and researchers.

In recent years, the economic model in Bach Long Vi island district has been maintained on a small scale, spontaneously, and heavily influenced by natural factors. Additionally, the impacts of climate change and the degradation of natural resources and the environment are increasing burdens on local socio-economic development. Therefore, this study aims to examine and build a compatible green economic model to help adapt to climate change and prevent natural disasters in the island district. The authors have researched and built a green economic model with three main activities (fishery logistics, tourism, and aquaculture), helping economic growth, improving people’s quality of life, and minimising the negative impact on the ecological system. The effectiveness of the green economic model is evaluated through a set of criteria with many contents, such as economic efficiency, the ability to create jobs and improve people’s living standards, and the level of renewable energy use, ecological and environmental conservation. In the end, groups of general and specific solutions are proposed to help strengthen the development and implementation of green economic models in the island district, ensuring adaptation to climate change, disaster prevention, and assurance of efficiency and sustainability for the environment, economy, and society.

This article delves into the intricate relationship between information asymmetry and financial reporting comparability, with a particular emphasis on earnings management (EM) in cross-border corporate governance settings. Utilising data from 2,475 non-financial firms across 19 frontier markets from 2003 to 2019, the study employs pooled OLS, fixed effects, and between-effects models to scrutinise the impact of factors like financial comparability, reputable auditing, analyst coverage, and legal systems on earnings management. The findings reveal that enhanced financial comparability, facilitated by strong governance mechanisms such as reputable auditors and analyst coverage, leads to a reduction in earnings management and information asymmetry. Interestingly, leverage does not serve as a constraining factor as commonly believed. The results contribute to the growing body of literature on the application of data science, and challenge the pecking order theory (POT), while lending support to the knowledge-based view (KBV)and convergence theories, thereby offering valuable insights into the role of corporate governance in mitigating information asymmetry.

Smart factories have demonstrated the effectiveness in leading technological trends and enhancing social production efficiency. Consequently, smart factories have attracted the attention of not only business owners and policymakers but also scholars in many fields of research. However, the conception of a smart factory varies significantly depending on the approaches. This discrepancy translates into a notable divergence in creating a development strategy for a smart factory, encompassing aspects such as technology selection for investment, the enhancement of human resource strategies, and the overall development strategy for the entire enterprise. Furthermore, this disparity poses challenges in proposing a consistent science and technology policy to promote the trend of intelligent production. To address these shortcomings, the authors conducted an exhaustive literature review of published works on smart factories toestablish a comprehensive concept and delineate the primary characteristics of smart factories, providing a fundamental framework for strategic planning and investment policies. This research offers a foundation for formulating a set of criteria to assess the intelligence of manufacturing factories.

The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method has been widely applied in numerous studies related to water allocation worldwide. However, in Vietnam, very few works have addressed the determination of priority orders and water allocation proportions using this method. This paper focuses on the application of AHP, integrated into the decision analysis module for Excel tool (DAME), to determine the priority order and proportion of water resource allocation for the Bang Giang - Ky Cung river basin using various input data, such as water usage, production values, growth rates, etc. The results, based on scenarios of socio-economic growth up to 2025 for Cao Bang, Lang Son, and Bac Kan provinces, taking into account four main water user categories (industry, livestock, agriculture, aquaculture), and considering the entire basin, indicate that the highest proportion of water resource allocation is for the agriculture, approximately 34%, followed by livestock at 33%, industry at 22%, and finally aquaculture at 11%. The findings of this paper can serve as a reference for near-future planning to promote the development of water sectors, increase production capacity, and effectively manage water resources to meet socio-economic development targets for the period from 2021 to 2025 in the provinces located within the basin.

The knowledge economy stands as one of the development strategies pursued by every nation. Constructing a knowledge-based economy hinges on four pillars: the environment, the education system, the information infrastructure, and the innovation system. Consequently, education plays an integral role, particularly at the university level. To evaluate the educational process at universities, the academic achievements of students are consistently considered. Currently, across universities in general and An Giang University in particular, there is an escalating number of students experiencing poor academic performance, which leads to academic indebtedness, re-examinations, and delayed graduation. Hence, there is an imperative need to investigate the factors influencing students’ learning outcomes within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at An Giang University. The primary objective of this study is to identify the factors that impact students’ learning outcomes and propose measures for enhancing these outcomes. This article conducts a comparative analysis of the concept of invisibility within two literary works: The Absent(Nguoi di vang, in Vietnamese) by N.B. Phuong and As I Lay Dying by W. Faulkner. It employs M. Henry’s phenomenological insights into life and aesthetics as a theoretical framework to delve into the expression and perception of invisibility in these texts. The study demonstrates that invisibility plays a dynamic role in both novels, exploring how it is articulated, revealed, perceived, and comprehended. By immersing characters in states of dying and coma, these narratives facilitate an exploration of the invisible as a perceptual experience. Both authors delve into the realm of invisibility by granting voices to the earth and its inhabitants, simultaneously emphasizing the silences and gaps in human communication. The central objective of this article is to identify common themes and perspectives related to the manifestation of life in these two writers’ works. Both N.B. Phuong and Faulkner conceive life as fundamentally invisible, with art serving as the means to unveil this invisible life.
本文对两部文学作品中的 "隐身 "概念进行了比较分析:N.B. Phuong 的《缺席者》(越南语 Nguoi di vang)和 W. Faulkner 的《我弥留之际》(越南语 As I Lay Dying)。
