Flipped classroom, or inverted classroom is a teaching approach in which new content can be learned at home with the support of digital materials sent by teachers and homework can be done in class through discussion and group work activities. This mode of teaching has been being implemented quite widely in the world, but it has only been paid a lot of attention in Vietnam recently. The present study investigates the application of flipped classroom model in teaching English for Academic purposes (EAP) for undergraduate students at International School, Vietnam National University (IS-VNU). An action research to implement flipped classroom model in teaching EAP was carried out in a class of 21 sophomores at VNU-IS. Findings indicate that there is an improvement in class time management and VNU-IS students’ involvement in EAP educational process. Besides, based on results of questionnaires and observation, students and teacher alike have the positive perceptions of flipped learning applied in EAP course. It is therefore concluded that flipped classroom mode will possibly be a complementary method in delivering EAP lessons at IS-VNU. The study also points out some recommendations for better implementation of flipped classroom in further researches.

This paper examines external modifiers that Australian English native speakers and Iraqi Arabic native speakers use to soften the force of request speech acts in everyday situations. Request samples were collected by means of role-play interview and external devices employed to mitigate the request acts were identified and classified using a framework based on CCSARP model. The results showed that external mitigating devices were pervasive in requests from both groups. The two groups have also been found to use different semantic formulae of some mitigating devices in specific situations. The occurrence of external mitigators in both groups’ requests is discussed in terms of verbosity as a politeness strategy. It is also suggested that the divergence between the two groups in their utilisation of request mitigations is related to cultural variations between the Australian and Iraqi cultures.

This paper provides a stylistic analysis of William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18, focusing on the concept of foregrounding. The analysis is divided into two main parts: graphological deviation and semantic deviation. Graphological deviation examines the use of punctuation marks such as colons, semicolons, and question marks to create visual and syntactic emphasis. Semantic deviation explores rhetorical devices like personification, rhyme scheme, repetition, and the specific choice of verbs and adjectives to uncover the thematic resonance and layered meanings in the sonnet. The study highlights how these deviations collectively enhance the thematic impact of Sonnet 18, showcasing Shakespeare’s mastery in using stylistic elements to convey the enduring beauty and timeless nature of love. The paper concludes by discussing the broader implications of these findings for understanding Shakespearean poetry and suggests directions for future research in this field.

The study attempted to determine the economic vitality, sustainability, and marketability of mixed-use development projects in the leasing industry in the Philippines. The goal of this study is to identify the correlation among economic vitality, sustainability, and marketability. Additionally, develop a plan to enhance the economic vitality, sustainability, and marketability for stakeholders to use for future business ventures. The study employed the descriptive-correlational method of research with the help of a survey questionnaire. The population of the study came from 80 mixed-use development projects within the leasing industry in the second district of Laguna, Philippines. A sample of 67 was computed using the Slovin formula at 5% margin of error and 95% confidence interval. The actual selection of the respondents was done using a purposive random sampling technique. After thorough analysis, the following conclusions were made. The diversity of businesses and tenant types adds value to the overall development. The confidence in long-term development projects focuses on sustainability and future adaptation. Tenant satisfaction is crucial for marketability, suggesting a focus on both attracting and retaining tenants. The economic vitality has a direct relationship with the sustainability of mixed-use development projects in the leasing industry. Economic significantly affects the marketability of mixed-use development projects in the leasing industry. As the level of sustainability increases, the level of marketability of mixed-use development projects in the leasing industry also increases. Hence, an action plan that would improve the economic vitality, sustainability, and marketability of mixed-use development projects in the leasing industry was proposed.

This research was conducted to empirically investigate the determinants affecting the cash holdings of state-owned enterprises in Indonesia. The sample consisted of 15 state-owned companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) over a 7-year period (2015-2021). The study employed the ordinary least squares (OLS) research model. The results of this research indicate that leverage and BI rate significantly affects the cash holdings of state-owned enterprises in Indonesia. However, cash flow volatility, and capital expenditure do not have a significant impact on cash holdings. This study contributes to the literature on the determinants of cash holdings in state-owned enterprises in Indonesia.

The study aimed to assess the predictive capability of management information system (MIS) integration and digital marketing strategies on sales growth in food and beverage SMEs in Biñan, Laguna. It examined the relationship between MIS integration, digital marketing strategies, and sales growth through a descriptive-correlational study involving 65 registered SMEs, with a total population of 77. Key findings indicated strong agreement (average weighted mean of 3.31) among respondents regarding the value of MIS integration, and effectiveness (average weighted mean of 3.15) of digital marketing strategies. Sales growth was perceived as very high (average weighted mean of 3.35). However, statistical analysis revealed that MIS integration did not significantly relate to digital marketing strategies or sales growth. The study identified a modest relationship between digital marketing strategies (e.g., email marketing, social media) and sales growth, with email marketing showing statistical significance (p = 0.005). Overall, the model explained 21.9% of the variability in sales growth, suggesting other influential factors beyond the studied variables. While MIS was deemed beneficial for SMEs and certain digital marketing strategies were important for success, the study found no significant predictive relationships between MIS integration, digital marketing, and sales growth in the context of Biñan’s food and beverage SMEs. This highlights the complexity of business dynamics and the need for broader considerations beyond these specific factors.

Sports, as one of the extracurriculars in the school, has a significant impact on the development of the youth. The school is an avenue to give students opportunities to improve their physical health and well-being. The purpose of this study is to determine the status, strengths, and weaknesses of the sports development program (SDP) of a technical vocational high school in the Province of Sorsogon, Philippines. This study utilized the convergent mixed method of research using a survey, unstructured interviews, focus group discussions, and documentary analysis. The respondents included two school administrators, twelve teacher coaches, and seventy-four student-athletes. The study’s findings provided an in-depth analysis of the status in terms of athlete development, staff development, facilities and equipment, and the school administrator’s support for the SDP. The qualitative findings concorded on the development program and strength of the SDP, discorded on the facilities and weaknesses of the SDP, and expanded on athlete development, equipment, and the support of the school administrator for the SDP. Furthermore, this study provided a comprehensive understanding of the SDP’s status, strengths, and weaknesses, guiding the development of a new sports development program with policies and procedures to address the challenges faced by the current SDP.

This study examined the impact of crop production on economic growth in Nigeria utilizing annual time series data from 1981 to 2018. The study used Johansen cointegration test, Vector Error Correction test, the impulse response functions and variance decomposition for data analysis after the data series were checked against unit root problem using the Augmented Dickey Fuller unit root test. The study tested and found that increase in the production of cassava, cocoyam, groundnut, guinea corn, maize, millet, rice and yam spurs economic growth in Nigeria in the long-run except for cotton production and with only groundnut production contributing significantly to the output of the Nigerian economy in the short- run. The study, therefore recommends that the Nigerian government should encourage farmers in the production of crops through supply of fertilizer to increase their productivity and food output while improving their use of modern seedlings and technology in the production that may in turn increase the crop production while farmers should be encouraged to adapt best practices in farming to maximize crop yield.

God’s truth is not at odds with love. 1 Corinthians 13:6 tells us that love rejoices in the truth. Most people would say that truths about God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness are loving. But they do not always understand that God’s commands summaries what love is. The knowledge of the truth and love is indispensable to the Christian faith. As it were, the Christian faith is not just a function of an intellectual assent to some set of doctrines about particular religious beliefs. Instead, it is a personal encounter with God, who is truthful and loving. In Jesus, we have the full manifestation of God. Jesus Christ, as God, is truth and love personified in this wise. Thus, the Christian faith becomes that personal conviction of an intimate encounter with Jesus Christ, himself, the truth and love of God. In this article, we shall explain the concepts of truth and love. In doing this, the concept of knowledge, the hermeneutics of truth- the logical truth and the revealed truth; the hermeneutics of love, love as a theological virtue, and the Christian faith as knowledge of the truth and love shall be considered.
